My sister and I went down in October 2003. The weather was great. I think it only rained the last day we were there. Plus as it was the off season it was not crowded at all. Everything was easily accessible to the resort. The casino was next door and there was shopping across the street and many restaurants were nearby. We also really loved the Gecko Grille located at Ocean Club. The food and staff were great. We also had some really nice shuttle drivers, who were extremely helpful. The hotel also had all kinds of water sports and activities to do. Most of the activities picked you up right on the beach. We got to go parasailing, snorkeling several times and tried beginner scuba. Again all the locals and guides were so friendly and made us feel at home. I can not think of one single bad thing to say, except that the vacation did not last long enough. I also thought the rooms were very nice too and well kept up. I am planning on going back next year. I highly recommend this hotel.

On oct the 8 we arrived in Prov after a short flight from Miami. The airport is small but the customs line moves fast if you have your paper work in order. All the people at the airport were helpful.... we had transfers with our resort package. We stayed on the Island 7 days total for our wedding and honneymoon. remember economy is based on tourism so tip if you can ...Ocean Club Resort (west) is lovely and well kept the rooms are clean and the kitchen has every thing you need to prepare meals (even blender for the do it your self crowd). The front desk staff Sonjia, Diana, and Siggie took care of our every need. The property is beautiful with colorful land scapes from front to back. The staff at the grill next to the pool were wonderful the chefs could really cook (conch) and the bartender was outstanding (rum punch). This the Island is paradise, turquoise water and carribean sun. It did get kinda hot; but you will manage. The local market is rather expensive by Carribean standards how ever if you made it to TCI you not a penny pincher. Make sure to sight see and eat in Blue hills thats the local section just a few minutes from down town. Got married on the Island have all your documentaion before hand signed and notarized to prevent getting coppies at 15.00 each ...the resturants are nice and the food is pretty good if you know what you are looking for ...ther are some lil tiny spots down town try to eat local the food is very good ....and tip ...place shuts down on sunday ....Ocean Club is an execellent place to relax, everyone we met were returns visitors to the resort and Island so I think we will see them again Brent & Patricia

We stayed at OCW from 30 Dec 2003 for a week. We stayed in a 2 bed
suite with views of the pool and ocean. It was nice but not as good as
it should have been for the price. Given that the resort is at most 5
years old, it already felt as though it could do with a refurb.
The seaside cafe was very expensive, and the service was quite surly at times. (breakfast finished at 11, we tried to order just before 11, but were flatly refused). My husband had to pass plates to the server regurally! Service at the Gecko grill was very slow . We had to send back wine 3 times it had definitely gone off! Our waiters included a gum chewing girl who assured me that there was no rice in my dish. It arrived with rice and she refused to remove it.
The beach was marvellous, miles of white sand and crystal clear waters. The tennis courts were good , but heavily booked at first. Other than that, not much else to do. We hired a car for a few days and saw everything on the island. It is quite small and basic - no real centre.
We had 3 kids aged 13,10 and 6. They enjoyed the beach, but we would have liked table tennis, or some kind of games room to keep them amused.
Overall, an enjoyable experience, but the staff need to improve their attitude. We stayed at Beaches after OCW, and the staff were much better
(and they were not getting tips). It makes all the difference!

The good news is that OCW is a very nice property with beautiful beaches. Once settled in, we had an enjoyable stay. Now the bad news...
I had planned this trip for 6 months - a family vacation with our 3 daughters (16-20). I had confirmed and re-confirmed every detail.
Imagine my surprise when we are routed to the "other" Ocean Club and advised that our accomodations had been modified to take care of some other guest! Ultimately, we got other, suitable accomodations at the OCW as well (as a free dinner at Gecko's) but that is NO way to start a hoped for stress-busting vacation. How they could do that is simply incomprehensible! That aside, we had an enjoyable stay. I recommend renting your snorkel gear from the on-site Turtle Divers office ($10 per day) We had Thanksgiving dinner at Coyaba which was truly stunning in appearance and service. The Seaside Cafe at OCW is certainly handy but they really need a course in service management. We waited 20 minutes for menus after seating and food took an hour. It was clear that no one really knew what they were doing. One thing that I had not read in other reviews was that OCW has large, professional gas grills in the middle of the pool area. We shopped at the IGA and grilled one nite which was fun. Contrary to some reviews, the bugs were not a factor nor was the constuction noise next door. (You can always close the windows and use the airconditioning to alleviate) We rented our car from Tropical Auto as recommended byOcean Club, and they did a very professional job - and are very close. We would love to go back as the beach and ocean part of the trip is simply outstanding.

After taking some time to reflect on our trip to Ocean Club West in
October, Ive decided to write a review. My wife and I are in our early
30's so we do like some excitment but also enjoy some time to our
selves. First of all, not to sound like a broken record, but the beach
is most beautiful my wife and I have ever seen. I took a morning dive
trip with Provo Turtle Divers and had a great dive and was treated very
well by the people there. We also took a sunset cruise with Sail Provo
and had an equaly good time. I would strongly suggest that trip. Other
than that, what ever fun you want to have on Provo, you have to make
yourself. As far as Ocean Club West go's, the only place to eat was the
SeaSide Cafe'. OK food, very pricey, limited selection of beers but
here's some advice for OCW, turn on a radio or somthing. It would of
been nice to relax around the pool, but the absence of a little music
and the avertised swim up bar, and the layer of film on the water, we
opted for the beach. My suggetion is not to take a chance with OCW and
getting put next to the construction site. It took us quite of bit of
complaining to get our room moved to the other side of the resort when
it was obvious the place was empty.
The rest of the Island is your typical Carribean Island under constuction. The people are ok, we didn't meet alot of locals. There is some fun places to go at night like the Shark Bite Cafe' and Danny Bouys. Hemmingways and the Tiki Hut are good for dinner. Overall, the T&C was good place to go, but I don't think I'll go back any time soon. The Carribean has so much more to offer.
