“Ocean Breeze. Blue Waters. Silky Sand. What else do you need to know?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

We couldn't have picked a better time to get away! We visited the resort From January 21 to 26. We love travelling in what is considered the "shoulder season" nestled between Christmas and spring break. Not only that, the weather back at home was down right cold. We've travelled to several islands and we have to say that Turks & Caicos is now our favourite sunny destination!

We chose to stay at the Ocean Club West property (there is also Ocean Club) for we had heard great things about it. We have two kids ages 8 and 13 and this resort was perfect for us. We weren't interested in all inclusive buffets or being surrounded by tons of people during this vacation. We just wanted to relax and the kids found that playing at the beach and the pool was entertaining enough.

We booked into a 2 bedroom unit on the main floor of the Sea Coral building. Our room faced the ocean and had direct access to the pool area from our large screened in patio. It is also within a 1 minute quick step to the silkiest beach ever. Seriously, this location will take your breathe away! The resort is low-key and you can choose to do absolutely nothing. But if you're interested, there's a tennis court, bikes, games, and beach toys for you to use with compliments. You can also book excursions ($) my husband and older son went snorkelling one morning and had the best time getting close to colourful coral reefs and fish in the ocean.

The resort is located on Grace Bay Beach and was voted as the #1 beach location in the Caribbean in the January 2013 issue of Travel & Leisure. It's spectacular! There were plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas for guests only to use (included). No need for us to rush out early in the morning to reserve chairs at the beach or the pool. And only once did a woman come up to ask if I wanted my hair braided. There weren't any hassling from beach vendors and it felt safer than any other island we've been to. BTW..Ocean Club West and Regent Palms were the only two resorts in Turks & Caicos listed in the T&L Magazine's best hotels in the world (Jan 2013)

The room we booked also had a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, utensils etc), 2 full bathrooms, 1 powder room, washer/dryer. It also had a dining area and living room area. Three TVs too. The rooms were clean, spacious and efficient.

The resort is within walking distance to great restaurants and the grocery store (sparkling clean one too!). Across the street from the resort is a wonderful French pastry shop that opens at 7:30 am for fresh baked croissants and quiches that are AMAZING! A few steps to the right and you'll find a shwarma resto and the best Patty shop on the island.

There are two shiny Weber BBQs at the resort for guests to use as well. Very clean and well maintained!

Ocean Club West is perfectly situated and a real gem!

Restaurants (most have websites) worth checking out and all family friendly...

Seaside Cafe - $ (located at the beach at Ocean Club West - we had Jerk Chicken dinner on Caribbean Night)
Yoshi's Japanese -$$ - we enjoyed ramen noodle bowls and fresh sushi!
Coco Bistro -$$$ - our favourite!!! You'll dine under tall pine trees. The dinner is amazing and you must try the coconut pie!
Da Conch Shack - $ is really good but a pricey cab ride. If you go, it's kid friendly. Thursday night entertainment is a live local band and you may just want to stay a while and dance under the stars. Dining is beach front (bring bug spray for the sand flies)
Lemon's Cafe - $$$ - delicious meals, must try the date phyllo dessert and have a fresh mint tea at the end of your meal.

Don't waste your time at Jimmy's Dive Bar if you're in a hurry. This is a 5 minute walk from the resort and is a popular spot for casual drinks and burgers. Service is extremely slow and it's a little pricey since they make people wait forever for the food. We were patient and knew it was slow and it was a cloudy day when we went. But people who didn't know about the slow service were upset and walked out.

Everyone was friendly and gracious wherever we went. We will definitely go back!

Additional Tips: Not much shopping (yet) except for Bambarra Rum and some island art done by local artists.

Give yourself time at the airport when you leave. The security check line is crazy.

I would highly recommend the resort for its convenient location to the grocery store, nearby restaurants and shops. The restraurant at the resort closes early and has a limited menu. We preferred cooking our own dinner and using the brand new gas grills. We spent a week in the studio suite which was gorgeous - our partial ocean view overlooked the fountain, I guess that's better than a parking lot view.

My husband and I have enjoyed this resort 6 nights. My husband and I have enjoyed this resort 6 nights. The official check-in is at 16:00. But we arrived in the morning and at our request, immediately got the room. We were able to relax and sleep. Then we went for a walk and see the neighborhood. The hotel is in an excellent location in the middle of the tourist area of Grace Bay, right on a gorgeous, white sand and a very long sandy beach. Idyllic landscape, magical sunsets, walks along the sea - what could be better for a romantic couple! Branched trees and shrubs make shade and coolness throughout the day. I note that only two resorts Ocean Club have a lot of greenery and trees. A large number of beach loungers and parasols is located on the soft white sand. Beach is very clean and without dust, the water is always calm with convenient and safe access. We took the smallest room - studio for two people. It consists of a bedroom and a kitchen area. A separate entrance to the bathroom. Large balcony - terrace, where there is a table, two chairs and a soft sofa. The room has a fridge, washing machine, stove, microwave, coffee maker, blender, toaster, dishes, forks, knives, spoons, etc. You can feel at home, cook anything without a problem. To be honest, studio room was smaller than I expected. A bit old but in good condition. There is a real problem with the pressure of the hot water in the bathroom. He is very weak, so the temperature of the water in the shower is very low. The room has no view, one road and the nearby resort. Sometimes noisy. We lived on the third floor of a high. so this is not a problem. Quality of cleaning in the room is average. The housekeeper kept forgetting to bring coffee to the room and shower facilities. I had to go to the lobby and take it yourself. Kitchen area and it did not clean the plates with spoons and forks is not washed. Bed linen is changed for a new one on request, can be every day. It was nice. Plenty of towels of different sizes in the bathroom. I did not like control hot and cold water in the shower. It is very old and not comfortable to use. We must remember that the resort is quite old, so room equipment such time and age. Near the hotel there are plenty of cafes, restaurants, shops, a large supermarket Grosery with a varied selection of food and drinks. This is a 5-7 minute walk. Local restaurants are quite expensive, about 80-100 dollars for dinner for two people with no drinks and no tax and tip. BBQ for dinner - this is a very useful and pleasant option helps to save money and get to know other guests. For example, we met our fellow citizens, who are now living in New York. Of course, I recommend this Resort for a relaxing and joyful holiday.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a pool view. On the ground floor there is a large terrace with a separate door fo...

I stayed at Ocean Club West for Christmas week 2012. I had an ocean view room (Bldg E, Room 517) which means I could get a glimpse of the ocean thru the gardens. It was very nice. My room was situated close to the pool, restaurant and most importantly the beach. I had an end unit so had a screened patio off the living room which wrapped around to the side then had another patio off my bedroom. My room was very spacious; full kitchen, one and half bathrooms, dining room, breakfast bar, living room and a washer and dryer The grocery store is within easy walking distance. After reading from other reviews how expensive everything was, I brought in my own non-perishable items (coffee, tea, snacks, clothes soap, dryer sheets, etc.) I'm glad I did so I didn't have to buy that stuff at island prices. I will pass on that recommendation to others heading to the island. The staff at this resort were very nice and always helpful. The day before I was leaving, the front desk staff even called to see if I needed to secure a taxi to the airport. I did need one so they made that reservation for me. The beach is great. It was very clean and never ending. You can walk quite a distance in either direction to enjoy it. There are lots of shops within walking distance of this resort also. I attended the Maskanoo event a short distance from the resort on Dec. 26th. There was a parade, music, rum, grills offering jerk chicken, etc. The street was closed off so you could walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. This festival was held a short walk from the resort also. It was a great vacation. I would recommend Ocean Club West. I can't think of anything negative about it. When I return to T&C, I will go back to OCW.

T&C is like stepping into a postcard. The most beautiful water you can imagine and the locals are very friendly. We had a destination wedding and stayed at Ocean Club West. It was wonderful. We loved Provenciales, the island is quaint, not overly busy or crowded, and its very safe. We walked or bicycled almost everywhere, and didn't worry about being off the resort after dark at all. The resort has beautiful gardens, easy access to beach area with complimentary chairs and umbrellas, beachside cafe for drinks and lunch, and is located within walking distance of several restaurants and shopping. We really liked the large screened in balconies, the weather was perfect the week after Thanksgiving and we slept with the sliding doors open every night. It's also quiet! Took a boat tour and snorkeled the barrier reef, amazing experience! Coco Bistro was definitely the best dinner we had, the food and ambience are fabulous. The resort provides bicycles free for guest use. However, they aren't in the best condition so you should check them over good before you take off (we had a flat tire experience) and they have to be back before dark which is a little bit of a bummer since the sun goes down so early. Ageee with some of the other posts, it is a very pricey destination. Also most restaurants automatically add gratuity or a "service charge", in addition to a high tax. Otherwise one of the best vacations ever and would definitely recommend!

This condo resort is located in touristy part of town so most of good restaurants, grocery stores, shops are close by, it has private beach accesss with beach chairs, towels all included in the cost for guests to use. The pool area is nice, we were satisfied with the service. The on site restaurant is decent and overlooks the amazing grace bay. If you want to spend relaxed, not much adventure vacation with younger kids this is the place for you.

Great place to stay! Suite 133 oceanfront. Just returned and can not wait to go back! Great staff and very well maintained! Everything you could want in a rental.Very pricy restaurants but there are several nice grocery stores.Must rent a car to see this great Island. The Conch Shack was great but we liked Bugaloos better. Very friendly waitress named Mar from the Dominican. The food at the resort was very good and priced right.Music on Monday nights and Friday nights.Very relaxing vacation!

Room Tip: Go Oceanfront if possible and rent a car!
