“wonderful trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

I enjoyed everything about my stay! I was travelling alone, recuperating from some serious health issues for the last 14 months, and found every one there eager to, not only accommodate my needs, but anticipate them! Not only the staff but their guests were so friendly I did not feel alone for long! The atmosphere alone, helped my spirits immensely. I will definitely recommend The Sands to friends, and intend to revisit often!

Dear Clb Texas,

Thank you kindly for your review. We are glad that we were able to meet your expectations especially giving that you were here to rest. The warmth of the staff and guests is enjoyed by many.
We agree sitting out on the beach and listening to the sound of the waves can be very calming. Again thank you for your recommendations and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind Regards,
Lidra Barranco

We stayed at the Sands in mid-October, unfortunately we were there during Hurricane Sandy. The hotel and grounds were nice, definitely more of a 3 star property, the rooms were slightly dated but the spot on the beach was priceless. The beaches were beautiful and the hotel is perfectly situated on Grace Bay. We did frequent Hemingway's as the weather was horrible and we didn't feel like leaving the property. Food was always very good, service was spotty, but the hostess Carolyn was extremely helpful and accommodating! We were hoping the hotel would be a little more accommodating considering it rained everyday we were there, but it didn't seem to phase them that we had flown all the way to this island with only one day where we could venture out onto the beach. We got a queen bed, a room with no view and the hotel was not full.

Make sure to venture to the shops near the Sands, there are a few bars/restaurants and some duty free shopping. We didn't find out about this until our second to last day, something I wish the front desk had mentioned. We rented a car from the front desk and it was a great experience, it was fun to explore the island and get out of our room.

We would love to visit Turks and Caicos again, but would probably not stay at the Sands. Good customer service during our rainy vacation could have definitely improved the trip and perhaps changed our overall opinion. The Manager party was cancelled due to weather, would have been nice to replace it with something for the guests..maybe a bigger hotel would have been more hospitable during the storm.

Dear KimS79,

Thank you for your recent feedback regarding your stay at The Sands at Grace Bay. We appreciate the time you took to let us know of your experiences and will share your kind remarks about Carolyn with her and the entire team.

We were disappointed to learn service in Hemingway’s Restaurant and the front desk staff was not consistently up to our usual high standards and have shared your remarks with the appropriate leaders so that we may have the opportunity to take corrective action.

With regard to your room accommodations indeed you are correct some of our studio ocean view rooms are equipped with a king or queen size bed. However we were sorry to learn you did not like the view. We understand our staff assisted you with an alternative room location and hope it was more to your liking. Though we had two of our buildings were out of service for bathroom renovations we were glad to know the renovations went undetected. You may have noticed in the residence you occupied our newly remodeled bathrooms feature stunning new travertine flooring, bath/shower walls, new bath and shower fixtures, new tub and fresh paint. We anticipate completion by the first week of December 2012.

Additionally, we are sorry you were not able to attend our re-scheduled manager’s cocktail reception that was held on Friday, October 26th instead of Tuesday, October 23rd. Typically, if there is inclement weather rather than cancel it altogether we reschedule the reception for later in the week. Your suggestions for rainy day activities are already being considered for future enhanced experiences.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write about your stay. It is because of caring guests such as yourself that we have a concrete basis of improvement.

We hope that we may have the opportunity to welcome you back to Providenciales.

Sincerely,

Mona Beeson
General Manager

Pros:
Perfect beach!
Best value/price.
Helpful concierge--Adrian made great recommendations for dinner and tours.
Always easy to get a taxi.
Very well maintained property: clean rooms and outdoor areas.
Hemingway's Restaurant is convenient.
Free bike rentals.

Cons:
The staff at the reception/check-in were not very welcoming. After a long day of travel, my experience would have been greatly improved if they would have smiled and said "Welcome, how was your flight?"
Slightly dated look in the rooms and pools.
The Spa Tropique has no facilities--just treatment rooms.

Room Tip: Note that a suite reservation states "Queen or King" bed so there are no guarantees. We go...

Dear Lapartier,

Thank you for your feedback ….

Indeed we have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Adrian is a wonderful addition to the team and I will be sure to share your feedback with him. The front office staff goes thru various customer service training through out the year, customer service is our top priority, its unfortunate that you had to encounter that experience at check in, we accept this as constructive criticism and to be use as a learning tool. We are constantly updating the rooms one of our newest update is the bathroom renovation which is currently ongoing, our next project which will start this year is placing in all of the rooms flat screen LCD TV’S. You are correct; the spa on property is just a treatment room. Spa Tropique is a large company on the island and have treatment rooms at various Resorts, once an appointment is made a spa attendant is dispatch to the location. As for the bedding we don’t guarantee, however we always try our best to accommodate.

Warm Regards,
Barbara Rigby

This was the 2nd trip to The Sands on Grace Bay on Provo. The promo was for a courtyard studio and we were upgraded to a garden view. The location is great, beautiful beach, quite, walking distance to restaurants, near the food store, friendly service. Only complaint was the help talking outside our room in the morning that woke us up at 7-7:30 am, not wanted on vacation. We were on the ground floor of building 6.

Room Tip: The lower the building number, the closer to the ocean you are!

Do not be swayed by previous negative reviews of the Sands at Grace Bay. True, this is not a luxurious 5-star property..nor does it pretend to be that. It is a very nice accommodating well maintained resort that met all of our needs while we were there. My wife and I stayed at the Sands for 6 nights, and could not have been more pleased. Contrary to what other reviews indicate, the staff, to a person, was friendly, and welcomed us with a "good morning" every day. Our oceanfront studio was perfect. It was clean, well appointed, and we had a wonderful view of the ocean. Our remodled bathroom was great, and we loved the rainfall shower. The screened-in porch was lovely, and we spent each morning with coffee overlooking the beach. The bed was comfortable, and our linens were just fine.
Grace Bay had the most awesome beach...flour-like sand and the bluest ocean you could imagine. There were plenty of plalapas and lounge chairs. On the one day the palapas were all in use, a staff member graciously set up an umbrella and chairs for us.
The grounds were well maintained and beautiful. The only quibble we might have is that the hot tub and pool temperature could have been warmer.
We had breakfast at Hemingways, and the eggs benedict were quite tasty.
We did use the grocery store shuttle while we were there, but be forewarned food prices are exceptionally high. Restaurant prices are accordingly high as well. A typical dinner for 2 without alcohol runs well over $100.
We would highly recommend the Sands at Grace Bay for anyone wanting a relaxing getaway on a beautiful oceanfront resort!

Room Tip: If you choose an oceanfront room, you will not be disappointed with the beautiful view.

We only stayed here two nights before moving to Middle Caicos. It was easy to drive to from the airport and no problem finding it. Check in was no problem, friendly front desk. There is no elevator so dragging luggage up flights of stairs was left to The Hubs due to my bad back. We were in bldg. one on third floor. It is the furthest from the beach, but still had a nice view. Loved the screened in balcony. When weren't on the beach I was on the balcony. The balcony chairs were the most comfortable ones I've ever had at a resort/hotel. Our room was fine-small fridge and sink-had we stayed longer we would have booked a room that had a kitchenette. Liked the "hidden" hammocks behind our building and the grounds were nice. They had like a small lazy river that I didn't get to try this time. We ate at Hemmingway's twice and both times were good. Set up a Snuba trip thru their excursion desk by Hemmingway's. The Hubs wanted to try the stand up paddle board so a guy drug it down to the water for him, thank goodness we were the only ones on the beach for that. Used a couple of the floats they have for you to use and just floated and relaxed. There was some renovations going on in the building to the front left of us and the guys would start arriving at 7am. I was already on the balcony both mornings but for 2 days it didn't bother me too much, probably would had it been a longer stay. Overall it was a good place for a short stay, would probably stay there again.
