“Amenity Rich”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

Grace Bay has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and The Sands is a great place to enjoy it. Pick up a towel on your way to the beach and let the guys know how many chairs you'd like set up under an umbrella. Sail out into the crystal clear water on one of their hobie cats, or head out on a sea kyak. Pools scattered through the middle of the complex w/plenty of lounge chairs in both shady and sunny areas. Condo has an incredible view and is very spacious and comfortable. Huge balcony makes it even better. Great place for couples and families.

We just returned from a family vacation at The Sands. The beach is gorgeous with complimentary use of kayaks, paddle boards, hobie cats, and snorkel gear. There are no resorts to the right and left of the Sands so the beach really seems spacious. Every member of the staff (and everyone on the island) is sincerely warm and friendly. The pools are clean and fun. (They are installing a heater but we found the pool temperature perfect even without.) Could The Sands be slightly more luxurious? Perhaps, but our oceanfront room felt like home for the week with well stocked kitchen, books, lots of towels and clean rooms. Instead of paying double or even triple for some of the more upscale resorts we were happy with our choice and spent our time and money on enjoying everything Grace Bay has to offer.

Room Tip: Buildings 3 and 4 are closest to the ocean views.

Took our family of five (8 yearold old twin girls and 13 year old boy) Sunday through Friday on spring break. We stayed in room 4102 ocean view. We had a wonderful and relaxing time! Our ocean was ground floor, so we couldn't see the beach at all and barely ocean, but very convenient to run in and out the room. Pools are quit and beach is beautiful. Sands provided hobie cat, kayak, paddle board and snorkel equipment for free. Hemming ways is the only bar and restaraunt on premises. Food was ok, but very convenient. We ate there for dinner once and lunch most days.

Wife got sick eating at Danny Buoys I e night. Great meal with family at Mango
reef and Bay Bistro, both on the beach just a short walk left of the Sands.

Grabbed a quick geocache in the park next door.

Already talking about returning one day

We are just finishing up a weeks vacation at the Sands. Overall the hotel is very comfortable. The only thing I could suggest is that they need to update and renovate the bathrooms. Otherwise, the rooms are quite nice and have every amenity. The grounds are perfect and the pools were a lot of fun for the kids. The beach is absolutely breathtaking. The most perfect sand and water I have seen. Rivals Hawaii. You cant go wrong here. Hemmingways is very nice. We had dinner at the restaurant next to Sands one night and it was awesome, but extremely expensive. Everything is expensive on this island. Food costs are outrageous. We saved money by shopping at the grocery and having breakfast and lunch in our room every day. There is not much else to do beside water activities so make sure you are a water lover if you come here.

Room Tip: We stayed in building 4. Close to the restaurant. They have live music on Tues and Fri and dont en...

We have a 14 month old and an 8 year old and just returned from a fabuous week at the Sands Resort. The staff is very nice and super accommodating. The hotel is well-maintained and they implement any service requests in a timely manner. I remembered reading about some things online before we went and they were already implemented by time we got there! We stayed in room 3114 (Garden View --but we actually had ocean views as well.) They have 2 Hobie Cats, 2 wind surfers, a kayak, 2 paddleboards, snorkel masks, fins and beach toys galore so don't pack them--there is plenty for everyone. Beach towel service and umbrellas/grass huts on beach are all free to guests. free WiFi, which is surprisingly good. Hemingway's is the restaurant, on the beach --we had dinner there...it was decent, but pricey. Since we had the well-equipped kitchen we bought breakfast items and cooked in for that meal, packed snacks for lunch to the beach, then went out and explored for dinner. Plenty of places to walk on the beach for dinner if you don't have a car. I recommend renting a car so you can explore the island, grocery shop when you need to (although the hotel runs a shuttle for a fee I think it's $9.00), The island is not that big so its easy to get around (remember drive on the left though) and has some great things to offer, like da Conch Shack in Blue Hills and the Marina in Turtle Cove with the TIki bar, SharkBites or Magnolia for good eats. There is a great ice cream place you can walk to on the beach to the left. The Salt Mills is where all the souveniers can be bought and is within walking distance to the hotel. Some other great restaurants are Mango reef (on the beach @ Alexandra hotel) Smokey's for local food, Middle Caicos Cafe for local food, Lemon for great atmosphere/mediterranean, Caicos Cafe was delicious as well! The people are so nice in T&C both on the island and at the Sands hotel. We met a lot of nice people, alot from Haiti and Dominican Republic. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, bathroom is small--like a narrow hallway and no tub, just a stand up shower. The bed in our room was not that comfortable. Also the mattress on the pull-out sofa was very springy. Rooms have a Washer/Dryer which is a plus , they provide one box of detergent enough for 1 load.. We had a slight problem with tiny ants but we were on the ground floor and I suspect this is a problem on the whole island. Not a big deal since we weren't in the room that much. The front desk offered to move us but we liked our room so we stayed and dealt with it. The housekeeper sprayed and wiped down the counters for us. I would definitely come back to stay at the Sands. I like how this hotel is on the point of Grace Bay not right next door to other hotels ---the beach is wider so all the sun bathers are not on top of one another like at the other hotels. This hotel doesn't have alot of ammenities and is small--but is a best kept secret. It will be a vacation to remember and we will defintiely be back. the island is pricey though. Be prepared....groceries and gas $$$$$$ The water is gorgeous!!! Kudos to: Leonard, Miguel, Philta, Kenard, Anil? (bellman) and all the other fantastic employees of this hotel. Mona truly knows how to hire good people! Hope to see you soon!

Room Tip: We travelled with 2 kids so we wanted to be ont he ground floor and in Building 3 since it's con...

Thank you so much for your review. We appreciate your kind remarks about our team and will share your comments with them and the entire staff.

For a Caribbean destination we have very good restaurants on island and we are in such a beautiful location to experience them. We are glad you got a chance to explore the island a bit and experience the warm and friendly people of Providenciales.
We are so sorry that your bed was not as comfortable and will be sure to review the beds for any corrective actions. We love your phrase “best kept secret”.
We will continue to provide the best service that we can in hope of making long lasting memories for our guests. We do hope to welcome you back to The Sands.

I was a bit reluctant to come to the Sands at Grace Bay. My concerns were heightened during a messy check in when the hotel did not have the information we provided to the booking agent (hotels.com) and alt ought it was almost 4 pm, the room was not ready. However, I was mistaken. This is a nice property, well maintained and right at Grace Bay, a beautiful stretch of white sand and clear blue/turquoise water. The hotel is also quite central and you can walk to many restaurants and to a small shopping center near by. The rooms are very comfortable and have a well equipped kitchen, if you plan to eat in (we usually go out). The rooms are clean and they are made every day in a timely fashion. Usually around 10 or 11 the room was clean. The hotel does not have a lot of amenities, but they do have a few good things: they have free bikes which you just need to sign for; a tennis court; free wifi internet surprisingly good. This is a resort for families and there are a bunch of kids running around, but there is enough space for all and except on a few occasions in which a more devilish child was having a tantrum on the beach, it did not bother us. There is plenty of room on the beach and the staff will usually be able to find you a spot under an umbrella or a hut. The restaurant (Hemingway) is only average (see separate review), but there are many places you can go, and many are walking distance and others are a short cab ride away. We had a good 7 days vacation at the Sands.

Dear Bweksler,

We are so sorry that your arrival experience was not the best but are glad that after the first impression we were able to turn around your stay.

We are glad that you enjoyed our complimentary services i.e. bicycles, tennis courts, and internet. We always get compliments on the unique huts we have on the beach and the service. We will be sure and share this with the staff and know this will place a smile on their face, so thank you for your review and we do hope to welcome you back in the future.

I came along with my family which included young kids. I enjoyed every living minute of my stay. Everything was so readily available for us to enjoy! My kids loved the pools and water sports. Hemingway's was a bit expensive but it was expected. My husband and I enjoyed a romantic dinner on our wonderful screened in porch. Delroy at pool and beach cleaned shells for us and was really nice. LeslieAnne at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure that my daughter was sought after right away when she suddenly became ill. My kids loved the fact that she was so friendly with them and even remembered their names. Terry the bellman is a comedian. All in all- my room was awesome and my stay was magnificent. I'm going back again next year.

Room Tip: Stay in building 6 it's quiet and nice!
