I did a lot of research on Turks and Caicos before my trip. I wanted to find a small hotel on the beach at a good price. I was excited to find the Sibonne. The good reviews seemed to be from people similar to me and the bad ones seemed petty.
I arrived mid-October and stayed a week. I was very satisified with my choice - it was just as described and the pictures were accurate. The value room was fine as I spent my time outside. The refrigerator and extra mirror in the bathroom were appreciated. The hotel and grounds are clean and well maintained, the staff was pleasant and helpful. The garden is lush and green. The pool is nice but never used because the beach is so close. There were always plenty of lounge chairs and shade and fresh beach towels are available all day. The beach is not crowded in the off season so it's very quiet and relaxing.
The restaurant, Bay Bistro, serves delicious food (freshly caught lobster the first night). The chef is from Scotland and very personable and Junior at the bar was a lot of fun. The continental breakfast was toast, banana bread, 2 pieces of fruit, juice and coffee - more than adequate to start the day and more than I usually get in the US. Your meal is accompanied by a fabulous view.
I met the nicest people at the Sibonne - from Germany, England and the US. All were having a good time and some extended their stay. Guests included singles, couples, one family with a small child, a group celebrating a birthday and wedding parties. I ventured out to eat at the Aqua at the marina (fabulous) and Hemmingways (loud and no music), had a massage at Point Grace, visited the conch farm (interesting), shopped at Ports of Call and took a half day snorkel cruise with J&B (saw JoJo the dolphin).
There is a lot of construction on Provo and Grace Bay so I suggest that you go soon. Stay at the Sibonne if you want a nice, simple, clean, older hotel with character right on the beach. If you want a new, fancy hotel with lots of amenities you should chose elsewhere. Simplify your life - enjoy the incredible turquoise water, talk a walk, relax and release your stress at the Sibonne. I didn't want to leave and will return.
