“Best resort in T&C”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

We have been coming to this resort for 6 years and have never been disappointed. The pundits are very clean and we'll maintained. The gardens are second to none and are lush, healthy and the blooms are just amazing. We think the staff is second to none. Friendly, always there to help and make your stay enjoyable and your experience unique. We have been in many places in the Caribbean and Mexico but we now only come to Turks and Caicos and stay at the RWI. Some units advertise ocean view but that is stretching it. With or without the lush trees partially blocking the view, caring a sliver of turquoise waters ocean view is just misleading on the part of the unit owners. For a premium, you can get an ocean front unit and a couple of buildings offer ocean view but the further back the building you rent, the less view. Those units offer great views of the botanical gardens and you are never more and a 60-90 second walk from the beach and ocean. If you want an amazing holiday that will allow you to relax fully, you will love RWI.

Had a wonderful and relaxing trip to TCI and RWI was a very nice place to decompress! Ocean view, huge balcony and having a kitchen helped keep meal costs down. All staff very friendly and helpful - had 2 maintenance issues in suite and fixed right away. Bar and restaurant products very good and staff very nice. Happy hour fun too! The grounds are amazingly beautiful and lush and pools lovely. Beach was steps away, and wonderful! Others commented on beach towels but we always bring our own, so not an issue. The rooms were clean and beds very comfy! I filled out a comment card - I think the tile floors need mopping every couple of days, and a guest ice machine would be nice, although the bar staff always helped us out there. The only downside is the groceries and restaurants are pricey, as others have said. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ocean View in building 3 was lovely - room 332!

TCI was a great vacation. Relaxing, great weather, great people, lots of nice guests from all over the country and Canada mostly.
Low keyed with a great beach. I will post a photo from our room Residence 1 , third floor, studio.
Lounge chairs, beach towels, kayak, Hobie, in room blue ray are all included at no charge.
It is U.S. currency and electric, with British driving.
Cab to town $10, free bikes for usage. Town is about a half mile + walk.
There is a nearby grocery store. I recommend getting some water for the room frig (and put some in the freezer), get some fruit and yogurt. You can even sit outside this nice store for coffee and a bagel or muffin. Count on most of the grocery food to be double the U.S. pricing.
Drinks on the beach are nice. The resort (owner rented) has some events and specialty nights also.
The pools, jacuzzi and most of all the beach are excellent. Clean property, staff very helpful.
The beach sand is soft and not hot. Walking or running might be challenging because you sink in the soft sand.
Club Med next door can be noisy, but not bad.
The waters are crystal clear. Parasailing was a fun $75 experience.
No exercise room was a downer, no vent in the bathrooms made that hot.
Restaurants are pricey- about $35-$40 for an entree. Then add the other stuff and the 12% island tax and the 10% gratuity built in (we usually left more). Desserts are not worth it: they look nicer then they taste-kinda cruise ship quality, not fine dining.
Airport taxi is $20 per person each way. The airport really is not equipped for visitors. Island is not very built up which is nice. Some restaurants have live music on different nights.
GREAT relaxing vacation.

Room Tip: Residence 1 is the Ocean view

The most beautiful beach on the Caribbean provides a terrific setting for this resort. This resort is one of the more popular on the island for a week's vacation. The resort contains many studio and 1 bedrooms that are rented out for the owners by the property. We stayed in a studio, facing the pool area. The room was large and had a nice lanai. We had a fridge and microwave, and laundry in our unit. Larger units had a full stove. Bed was firm but comfortable. The staff were friendly for the most part, and everything was kept immaculately clean. Some updating is required, especially new loungers are required for the ocean area. Sometimes difficult to find a vacant chair but the staff were willing to help.

These are minor items: The walls are a little thin. You may wish to request a upper unit, not facing the pool if possible. The band music from the bar is a little loud, usually finishes by 10 pm though so we were not bothered (music is not coming from club med...it's local). Also, avoid a unit on the ground floor. We always had cleaning staff set up outside our botanical room, so it was noisy at times.

As far as value for the money it's probably not possible to do better on this expensive island.

As a middle aged gay male couple we felt safe on the island. We were occasionally greeted with an impolite grimace at our hotel, or slow service at a restaurant, but for the most part the islanders were polite and friendly.

Looks like a terrific place for families. There are kiddie areas in both pools.

The hotel restaurant, Pelican Bay, was fair. We found dinner expensive and better meals could be found elsewhere on the island. The presentation was nice, but the fish was overcooked and lacking flavour.

Room Tip: Request rooms not facing the pool area, possibly upper floor

The royal West indies is a beautiful resort. Everything you need is within walking distance. The pool hot tub and bar are great. The beach is unbelievably pretty. This is a very low key resort which means it is perfect for a relaxing vacation. We couldn't have picked a better place for our family to go to at Turks and Caicos. Its also right next to Graceway supermarket. Also the front desk will help you with any booking for water sports and excursions that you need.

Room Tip: Try to bike around rather than order a taxi everywhere, but beware you can only have the bikes for t...

We had a great dinner here.
Lobster was excellent, although pricey.
The bar has 2:1 at 5:00 p.m. which brings everyone out.
Derek (waiter) made my sister's birthday extra special!
Hotel is in a great location.
Flat rate p.p. taxis make it easy to get to.
Family members have stayed at this resort previously and enjoyed.

My wife and I just returned from one of the best weeks of our lives. The resort was amazing. Cleanliness, superior. View, outstanding. The staff was very polite and helpful. We were in building 2 which was very close to the beach and restaurant. The Grace Bay beach was absolutely gorgeous. What made it better was it wasn't crowded!

Nice job!

Room Tip: Buildings with a low number are closer to the beach.
