We had a great dinner here.
Lobster was excellent, although pricey.
The bar has 2:1 at 5:00 p.m. which brings everyone out.
Derek (waiter) made my sister's birthday extra special!
Hotel is in a great location.
Flat rate p.p. taxis make it easy to get to.

My wife and I just returned from one of the best weeks of our lives. The resort was amazing. Cleanliness, superior. View, outstanding. The staff was very polite and helpful. We were in building 2 which was very close to the beach and restaurant. The Grace Bay beach was absolutely gorgeous. What made it better was it wasn't crowded!

Nice job!

Room Tip: Buildings with a low number are closer to the beach.

My husband and I just returned from a week at the Royal West Indies Resort on Grace Bay. We went to celebrate his birthday and retirement and to get away from the bitter cold. Our hotel suited us perfectly because we were right on the beautiful beach and we could walk or ride the hotel bikes to restaurants. Our condo was lovely, beautifully decorated, and we ate breakfast on the patio each morning. The hotel provides hobie cats, ocean kayaks and snorkeling equipment in addition to the bikes. The landscaping is gorgeous with lots of bushes and trees in full bloom (in January). I agree with another reviewer that the prices of food on the island were about double what we're used to paying so that was a bit of a shock.

Room Tip: We stayed in a one bedroom, ocean front, so we could see and hear the ocean. There are also lovely...

great location--right on grace bay. well landscaped. well maintained. not five star, but well run and solid four star property. studios are about 550 square feet and have a big balcony and kitchenette. quiet and private. would return. could use better pillows--we requested them and they were provided which were better.

Room Tip: if possible, get room on side away from club med. but even on club med side you don't hear anyth...

We went for the oceanfront one bedroom. Building 1 is definitely where you want to be so you can see and hear the ocean. The view is lovely (keep in mind that there are 3 floors and no elevator), the furnishings are in good condition, and the kitchen is well stocked with the basics. We enjoy that the room is cleaned on a daily basis as this in not always the case when you rent a unit that belongs to someone else. Having a washer and dryer is big plus. Pelican Bay is okay for food; breakfast was mediocre...and there is no room service.

Room Tip: 1 bedroom in building 1 has a corner balcony and is quite lovely!

My husband and I spent 8 nights at the Royal West Indies Resort and while we had plenty of options to fill our time, we chose mostly to relax on the beach. Upon arrival to TCI, we were a bit shocked by the prices of food and wished we had gotten the advice to bring food with us (peanut butter, snacks, etc.). The bar at the hotel is fantastic and the happy hour is 2:1. The hotel restaurant (Pelican Bay) on the other hand is very pricey and we found many other restaurants that gave more food and better service for a similar/better price. With that said, the lunch portions give you more bang for your buck and the convenience cannot be beat.

The beach is magnificent! The staff is attentive and you are able to get to the beach off of the boardwalk and get towels, beach chairs and an umbrella to spend the day looking at the most beautiful turquoise water. The pools are very nice and there is one large hot tub. The grounds are so beautiful with professionally maintained trees, flowers, and grass. The pathway to the beach is so pretty.

The rooms are great because the balconies are private and open with comfortable patio furniture. There are full kitchens/kitchenettes with a refrigerator, microwave, wine openers, silverware, cups, mugs, etc. which make it very easy to prepare your own food in the room.

We used the bikes that are available for two hour periods almost every day. We went to the grocery store to buy food to make lunch in our room and buy water. We also felt very safe walking to all of the restaurants we visited. We were encouraged to take a cab because the walk was a long one, but most places are walkable and actually pretty close.

As far as places to eat, we walked to a french bakery called Caicos Bakery every day and it was AMAZING. We got coffee there and delicious pastries, desserts, breads, and whatever else she had out. The small cups of coffee at the Pelican Bay were $5 each and there was no cream, so an alternative was necessary. We went to Coyaba which was next door to Royal West, and then walked the beach to several other hotel's restaurants.

The hotel staff was very helpful and we had them coordinate all of our restaurant reservations and excursion reservations. This hotel was definitely worth the money and I would recommend it for its affordability and quality. I would not describe it as luxurious because many of the area hotels had more beach activities included, better restaurants, infinity pools, etc. but the Royal West Indies was perfect for us because we were interested in a well kept resort, clean room, a beautiful beach with towels, chairs and an umbrella, and kind and helpful staff. We got all of this and I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The ocean view rooms are worth it!

Although everyone has their own opinions, I can't believe a previous post that said to beware of Mario! Mario is one of the absolute highlights of RWI ! As well as Premy and Markensen too! This was only my second trip to TCI but I was amazed that all of the staff at RWI remembered who I was. And of course, they make you feel like you belong there - like you are "home"! The staff at Pelican Bay are top notch! They treat their customers like they are true friends! It's a great place and the food is great too!
I highly recommend RWI and I would definately disagree with the suggestion to "beware of Mario"!
