“Fantastic beach resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2009

Just came back from a week-- wonderful! Friendly people, perfect beach, great unit with beautiful sunset views. I've traveled throughout Asia, Europe, Mexico, and the US and Ocean Club is my favorite beach resort anywhere. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed at Ocean Club east from 3/25/09 thur 4/1/09. Had a deluxe studio for my wife, myself and our 6 year old. In the lobby at the resort they provided free coffee and computer use. I believe the resort is also wireless but we did not bring our pc so not sure how well that worked. Room was clean, had a nice little kitchen, screened porch overlooking the pool and was nicely decorated. Not sure why they needed screened porches because we did not see a bug the entire time we were there.
The beach and weather were both fabulous. My wife and I took runs every morning along the beach which streches for 12 miles.
Food was expensive as is typical at most islands we have visited. We stocked up at the IGA which had a selection similar to grocery stores you would find in the United States, though the prices were a lot higher. We ate breakfast and lunch at home and went out to dinner every night though they did have gas grills readily available if you wanted to grill. All of the restaurants had great food, though some had better service than others. They have lots of magazines in the rooms listing the restaurant options. I'm not sure I remember the names of all the places, but I think Cocoa Bistro, Opus at OC East and the sushi place at Salt Mill plaza were 3 of our favorites. Went to Horse (shack/head or something like that) casual bar on Sunday as they advertise live music and family games, but the place was not worth the drive.
We did rent a car for part of our trip. Taxi from/to airport is $15 a person. The hotel did have a shuttle that would take you to the IGA and I think that was around $30. We rented a small car that was almost $60 a day taxes included. Probably did not need a car as most of the restaurants were within 1 mile from the hotel. There is a free shuttle between OC East and West so you can take the shuttle to OC West (approximately 1 mile from OC East) and this would put you closer to several of the restaurants. Overall we had a wonderful experience.
I read an early review on this site saying the West was much better than the East, but I guess that would depend on your room. We ate breakfast at the West and could hardly tell the difference between the 2 hotels as they had such similar architecture.

We stayed at this resort during March and loved it. The pools and grounds are kept extremely clean and the location cannot be beat--away from the crowds and the screaming kids.

The staff onsite is very helpful and went out of their way to ensure that we were taken care of at every turn.

We loved that they provided clean outdoor grills that were cleaned each day. As a result, we grilled several times during the trip. In addition, we enjoyed the free shuttle to Ocean Club West. We spent a few days on the beach adjacent to that resort and found it equally satisfying. Sometimes we walked back to Ocean Club East, but it was always nice to have the shuttle service ready to pick us up at a moment's notice.

overall it was a great trip, and the service was first-rate.

This resort is located on a calm beach. We were very happy with our hotel room. we stayed one of the deluxe room. It was spacious. It had a kitchen area complete with cooking utensils, washser and drier. It had a large balcony which was screened.
We stayed there between March 8 and March 15. At the beginning there was zero fly, insects, and musquitos. But as time passed, we observed that the number of musquitos started to increase slightly. But it never bothered us. Weather got a little bit cool at night. It was windy at times.
We loved the beach. The hotel is situated in a calm area. There weren't a lot of noisy kids around. Music levels were kept low. So it is a nice area to relax and unwind. The food is pricey. There is a restaurant bar adjacent to the otel, which is less expensive. We ate there a lot. Their food was good. I think it was called Flamingo Cafe. It is located inside a local cultural market.
The hotel has a shuttle that takes you to their sister hotel which is located at West. There you can find more restaurant alternatives and there is a small downtown area you can walk. We took that shuttle to go to Grace Bay Club's bar and restaurant. They had a nice long bar that was called infiniti bar. It was very cool. The food and drinks are really expensive there but it was an experience you have to try.
Our overall experience with this hotel was very satisfactory. Its staff were helpful and kind.

Made a reservation through the internet, the pictures are of Ocean Club WEST not east, the quality of the rooms are night and day between the two, west being much nicer. Beaches are great service is good, just make sure you clarify a preference for west and stay far away from east because they will pull the bait and switch on the internet by only showing pictures of the west property then sticking you in the crappy east property.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2009

Ocean Club has two properties on Grace Bay (Providenciales, Turks & Caicos). The original resort, just over 20 years old, is at the East end of the bay, and the newer resort, approx 10 years old, is right in the middle of the bay. Both resorts are very similar: same style and similar layout, beach-side restaurant, pool, fitness center, tennis court. We chose the original Ocean Club (East) as it is a little quieter, situated away from other resorts.

We stayed in a Studio room, which is small (400 sq ft) with a kitchenette (microwave, hotplate, fridge, sink, dishes, cutlery, etc) but is all we needed, as we don't spend too much time in our room. Given the resort is 20 years old, the room was what we expected. Very clean and well appointed. Most of the balconies are screened in (although we didn't have any bug-related issues at all in February), and the studio rooms have very small balconies that overlook the parking area. To get a beach or pool view, you'd need to book a Junior Suite.

The restaurant on-site at Ocean Club is good. Casual setting with a great view of the water, good food, and friendly staff. The Opus Restaurant is attached to the resort, and was fantastic. The ambiance was great, service was good, and the food very good. One thing about Turks and Caicos, all restaurants are very expensive (appies $10-15, entrees $25-40, desserts $15, all in USD), so plan on spending at minimum of $50 each for dinner (much more at the higher end restaurants)

The resort is kept very clean. The 2 pools at Ocean Club East are cleaned every day, the rooms are kept very clean, the beach and pool chairs are in good condition and very clean. The staff do a great job of keeping everything in order, and well maintained.

The fitness center is okay, with free-weights, a universal-machine, a couple tread-mills and bikes. We didn't use the Spa-Tropique services that are available, so can't comment there.

The beach is absolutely incredible, with powder-white-sand that stretches for 12 miles. Umbrellas, beach-lounge chairs and tables are all laid out on the beach for use, and the restaurant bar is only a few steps away. Sunsets can be amazing, and the happy hour specials encourage everyone to come watch.

Free shuttle service to the Ocean Club West, which allows you to walk to 5 or 6 other restaurants (within a 10 minute walk), or you can walk the beach to other restaurants (quite a few choices within a 20-30 minute walk). We stalked up the kitchen with breakfast and lunch foods (IGA Grocery Store is a cab-ride away) and ate out every night. Never had a bad restaurant experience, they were all good, just pricey.

If you're looking for a place to unwind, sit on the beach, or by the pool, and not have to worry about anything, with a beautiful setting, then Ocean Club will be a great place!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2009

My family of six went to Ocean Club Resorts - East in TCI this past December/January 2009 for some scuba. We booked a 2 bedroom condo which is tight for sex people, but the condo is spacious and included a large screened deck. We were fortunate to be in B building which is right next to the beach and casual dining area. The condos are slightly run down as to be expected from a 20+ year old complex. For instance, mattresses were not firm, but since these are individually owned, it might be hit or miss. They were reasonably maintained and cleaned daily. Being next to the beach, we would leave the sliding glass doors opened at night and listen to the crashing waves. The complex itself has only a few amenities (pool, 1 tennis court, and casual dining outside.) Casual dining food was only ok and service poor (even poor considering just Caribbean standards.) Beach is very nice and protected by a reef 2+ miles off beach. There is a aquatic center there but you must pay for everything. Casual dining closes at 9 PM which sucks and there is no in room service. There is a nicer restaurant just off the compound called Opus (see my individual review for that). My take on this place: it is relatively cheap by TCI standards for what you get, but temper your expectations and expect to eat mostly away from the condo (or else cook.)

  • Liked — Being near the beach.
  • Disliked — The casual dining and service
