“Family vacation done right!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012

We traveled with out 8 month old son and my parents. We had a 2 bedroom condo, with 2 king size beds, 2 large shower bathrooms, a powder room, fully equipped kitchen, living room and patio. We were in unit 4106 for 7 nights. It was adequately appointed for our needs, nothing too high tech TV wise, but we were there to see the ocean and the sand. We were on the end, next to the construction site, but as construction has halted there was no noise from that area. We liked being in the back as well. It was a short walk to the pool and the Somewhere Cafe and the beach area. We were provided beach towels to use on the chairs and umbrellas on the beach. It was low season so no fighting for space and with the baby, we were up at 7 every morning ready to hit the beach. Meshell at the front desk was very pleasant, provided us our towels every day and took the wet ones back. In the condo, we only had one towel per person for showers and things, which did get a bit sparse if we took more than one shower after being on the beach. We brought extra so that wasn't a problem. We were provided a full size crib and full size high chair for our son at no extra cost. The beds were comfortable and the rooms had their own air conditioners which helped keep everything cool. There was daily cleaning service to sweep the floors (all tile floors everywhere, hard and not great for learning to walk child). It would have been helpful to have had a broom in the condo so we could sweep, I felt we could have kept more sand out. The grocery store was a $10 cab ride there and $10 back for 2 people, groceries are expensive, but for 4 adults we spent about $80 each for the food and ate out only a couple of times. The cafe on site doesn't open until 8:30am for breakfast, so helpful to have our own food available when needed. The beach staff were very pleasant and helpful. Previous reviewers mention the whistle blowing at the snorkelers and they do that to keep people from a protected part of the reef which is very shallow. The signage regarding the buoys could be a bit more specific. There is plenty to see in the house reef, we did a few trips out there and saw a couple of turtles, octopus, barracuda, lionfish, grouper, snapper and angelfish.

Room Tip: If you have children, avoid the rooms closest to the cafe as they have nightly entertainment that ca...

We booked the penthouse 1302 (3rd floor corner) and the view was GREAT and we loved opening the glass doors on both sides to feel as if we were living outside! (keep the bedroom door closed to prevent a stray mosquito or two from coming in there). We ate breakfast on the balcony daily. The beach here is more narrow than Grace Bay on down to the east, but we had the snorkeling reef right out front...which makes for great entertainment in more ways than one.
Jerome will cheerfully get you set up with a chair.
Be careful as to not book a unit with a view of the Toscana next door, as it's unfinished, and not pretty (no work being done either). We had a view to the west , but we couldn't see the ugly building as the Somewhere Cafe/bar was there, which was fun to watch and listen to (USUALLY).
Not a fancy place---showing a little wear here and there, but very nicely landscaped and VERY pleasant.

Room Tip: corner unit was GREAT, loved being on 3rd floor with vaulted ceilings. Ask for a view that is absent...

We are at TCI for the first time.
Coral Gardens is a great value. It is perfect for our family. Not all fancy and stuffy:)
Our condo is 1112, quiet and private, with beautiful views.
The temps are a little cooler than expected and the WIND!!!

I stayed at the Coral Gardens in late February with my wife and two young children. We booked a very nice 2 bedroom, great view, well appointed, very comfortable. Although we couldn't see from our room, there was an abandoned, half built, construction site next door on the west side of the Coral Gardens - huge eyesore. Everyone that worked at CG's was super friendly and always helpful, especially the beach attendant. The "Somewhere" Restaurant was excellent, although the menu was limited and could use a little more variety and variation. The beach was beautiful, water awesome. But the beach was a small, especially at high tide. The grass umbrellas and chaise lounges were old, plus it would have been nice if there were some beach chairs. Directly in front of the beach was what was promoted as the best reef on the bay. I was extremely disappointed to learn that it was cordoned off and completely off limits to snorkelers. Plus if anyone went in the reef area, the beach attendants would freak out, whistle, yell and blow sirens - and this would go on all day. All snorkeling was limited to circling around the perimeter of a fairly small, very unimpressive reef. Sure there were fish and some coral, but visibility was low and compared to Hawaii, the South Pacific, the mediterranean or even parts of California - it was not at all impressive. Since this beach is heavily advertised as the best place to snorkel, it is a huge attraction for crowds not staying at the CG. Very busy location. Next to the CG beach was a drop-off/load place for all the many, many tour boats and para sailing boats. Sadly the beautiful Grace Bay really felt like Miami Beach or what I imagine of the Jersey Shore. Tons of para sailors zigzagging back and forth along the beach, people walking up and down the beach selling para sail rides or snorkel trips, and tons of resorts. There were many nice restaurants on the island. All very expensive and surprisingly not much fresh fish. Seems like all we could get was grouper or salmon - which was obviously not local. The grocery stores were amazingly expensive. A small hunk of Cheddar cheese was $10. No fresh fish. Six pack of coors light was $20. Six pack of local beers was $12. A quart of Jack Daniels was $50. The island was not at all picturesque, very dry and very, very poor. You would not want to go away from the resorts at night. Overall, the CG was very nice. Awesome condo with awesome view. Yet the Provo experience was overall disappointing. Very crowded, poor snorkeling, expensive. While we were there, we loved everything, but looking back and in writing this I find that I have more negatives to mention than positives. Made for a great trip, but I would never go back.

Coral Gardens is a great find. Snorkeling right off beach, two pools, very nice staff. We stayed in 1BR (Unit 4204) which was extremely well equipped and beautifully decorated. Then moved to Penthouse (Unit 2302) 2BR with family. View was great but unit was not very nicely equipped. Staff did their best to help. This is not a super plush resorty-type place. Always enough beach chairs, good bar service on beach. Would definitely return and recommend.

Room Tip: Most 1BR units are in right side building. Choose one closest to beach. Abandoned new building next...

First time to Turks and Caicos. Our 3 bedroom 3 bath room was very clean, well appointed and comfortable. Kitchen is reasonably equipped although to cook on premises would be expensive given grocery prices. We had view of the ocean (and also an abandoned hotel construction project next door which was not so attractive). Staff is great and helpful. Somewhere Restaurant and Bar (which is run by other managment) has good food that is as affordable as anything on the island (nothing is cheap) great drinks and periodic live entertainment. Staff at bar are lots of fun. Beach is pretty relaxed with protected coral reef right out front. Caicos Adventures dive shop on premises and we dove with them 4 days. Very well run operation. Only negative is you have to take a cab almost everywhere. They provide a cell phone for incoming calls.

We stayed at Coral Gardens for President's week/February 2012. We stayed in condo unit 2312, on the top floor. It is a beautiful two bedroom, three bath unit, with a gorgeous view of the pool and beach from the huge balcony. The balcony doors retract into the wall so the entire living room opens up to the balcony. We are a family of five with three teenage boys. Two boys slept in the twin beds of one bedroom and one son slept on the huge couch. Management was happy to bring up a roll away bed, but he preferred the couch. The master bedroom was nice and had a small walk in closet. The king bed was ok; mattress could use a flip - each side had indents where people sleep. The bathroom was huge with shower and jacuzzi tub. Kitchen was great; everything you would need for either making meals in or simply having complimentary coffee in the morning. We shopped at the terrific supermarket two minutes away and bought things for breakfast/lunch. We rented a car so we had dinner out every night. Some of our favorites were Seven, Coco Bistro, da Conch Shack and Bay Bistro. We decided to book at this property mainly due to the coral reef right in front. We snorkeled there every day, sometimes more, since it was just feet away. We saw great fish, two stingrays, one sea turtle and several barracuda. We snorkeled at Smith Reef and did the half day snorkeling trip as well. Coral Gardens' reef is the best because it is right at the edge of the water; no traveling necessary. Just remember to stay OUTSIDE the ring of buoys that mark the reef. You wouldn't believe how many people end up inside the ropes, even though it's pretty obvious that the snorkelers are hovering outside the circle. Oh well. Here are some other things we did with our boys: Golf at Provo Golf club, Froggie's ATV rides, Provo Ponies, parasailing (saw celebrity dolphin, Jojo, while on the boat!) kayaking at Big Blue Adventures and a drive out to Taylor Bay (worth the ride - gorgeous, quiet, shallow bay) and lunch at Las Brisas. All in all, a wonderful trip! Since we had a lot planned and were not going to hang on the beach all day we would tell Jerome (the man in charge!) each morning and he would have chairs ready for us, depending on what our needs were, sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon. He was great and organized the parasailing and the half day snorkel trip right on his cell phone - so easy. We tipped him at the end of the week as well as Celia, our friendly and flexible housekeeper. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a condo very close to the beach and snorkeling and isn't into the huge high rise, glitzy hotels. Coral Gardens is not among the most crowded area of Grace Bay hotels, which keeps the beach more quiet/less people. It was perfect for our busy family!

Room Tip: Would only consider top floor for the view, such as #3212. Stay away from side of property next to...
