The Shack is located in the Blue Hills area, which means that whoever drives there may not be able to enjoy their rum punch as much as the others - or plan a taxi ride !
There is a covered patio, a deck, and picnic tables right on the sand under a canopy of palm trees, 2 steps away from the sea : perfect setting to unwind. Great atmosphere with local music (and not too loud as is often the case). To me it is the best conch place on the island. I simply love their salad, the cracked conch was fantastic, and the fritter as well. The conch in the creole stew was overcooked though, with a rubbery texture that was bit disappointing. But the stew flavor was great. The conch coconut stew was loaded with conch pieces and creamy. The staff were really friendly and always ready to crack a joke. They also offer a small menu of aged rums and they fill the glasses in a way that would have any bartender in the US fired on the spot: at the Shack you get good value for your money!!
The only thing I'm disappointed about it their coconut cappuccino. I had imagined a large cup of cappuccino with shredded coconut on top instead of cocoa, and I ended up with 2 mouthfuls of tepid, watery coffee in an espresso shot and coconut sirup at the bottom. Stick to the punch !
It takes some planning to reach the place, but once you're there you get to understand the island life : well worth the ride !
