“Good but $$$”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

The setting was amazing and the service was exceptional...
There was so much to choose from, and it all sounded great. We went with the fresh catch and pork tenderloin...WOW!!!
The deserts were okay and the wine was refreshing.
I know everything costs more there, but it was a bit of a shock...so keep that in mind, but know that the food was terrific!!

“Too large of space”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Parallel 23 could be more amazing if their space wasn't so large, it's too big to be able to be accommodating and well staffed. The service wasn't great. When we made a reservation we asked to be seated outside in the garden are, which they said was fine- we got there and they said they only had seating inside. Finally the manager overheard the convo and had us sit at the bar with complimentary drinks- the bartenders were not fast moving or friendly, but the drinks were good. Finally 30 minutes past our reservation we were sat in the garden area.

We went during lobster season, so I got the butter poached lobster, which was fantastically amazing and LARGE. I almost couldn't eat it all, but you can't leave lobster behind.

After all is said and done, the food was good and the manager made up for the lack of communication. I'd try this place again and would have other people go aw well. Drinks and food are good, we might have had an off night for staff.

“Very nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

The food and location are very good. I read trip advisor during the week and it looked like the restaurant was having some service issues but not the night we were there. Really a great experience. The mac and cheese was awesome!

“Great food-beautiful setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

The restaurant has great ambiance. The service was great. The kobe appetizer was the BEST we have ever tasted! I had the duck entree and it was really quite flavorful. The only bad dish we experienced was their creme brulee. It was terrible. But it wouldn't deter us from returning to eat here.

“A Challenge For Barry Cohen”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Parallel 23 has much to recommend it. There is the ambience which deserves special commendation---it is special and the setting on the table and the setting in the garden is unique. The tables are well spaced, the lighting is great. For the last 6 years, we always have this restauurant as one of the best on the island. We cherished out meal there in the past.

As for the food, we disagree with the W family above, this restaurant has superb food and the kitchen works hard and well to make it good. Four stars from our dining family for all courses--especially high marks for the rositto. The food is good, very good.

Last night things went off the rails for Parallel 23 when the main course took so long to arrive at the table (52 minutes after the first course had been cleared), and at the 35 minute mark, the wrong main course aimed for another table arrived. There was no relief offered, and the server was diffident and disinterested. The mood was, "hey you are going to be fine with this."

I asked to speak the the manager at the end of the meal, Barry Cohen, a lovely manager arrieved--he was glad to learn of my displeasure, but I was not sure after our conversation if he felt complaint noted, or our restaurant is too good to have this happen.. But as I explained, this whole thing could have been avoided if someone had simply said---we ran inta a problem in the kitchen or your drinks are on us, or something. It wasn't---with new options like the Beach House springing up, the ambience and indifferent service is going to move this restaurant from the top of the list to a more middle rank.

Barry Cohen---the challenge is yours. the ball is in your court.
