“Killa Villa - stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2010

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and made the best choice we could have made on this island. The location was perfect - 1 min walk from beach where there are villa del mar loungers and umbrellas with complimentry bottle water and towels. 7 min walk to IGA - prices are expensive but we ate from here a lot and was far less expensive than eating out everynight. Many restaurants within 1 - 5 minutes in all price ranges. Rooms were fantastic with great modern decor and amenitites. We stayed in a deluxe studio room - with washer dryer , fridge, toaster and microwave. We used the gas BBQ's a couple of times and had some grilled chicken and steaks. The pool right outside the door was perfect with the hot tub - the hot tub jets could be stronger though. A bar open all day is by the pool - drinks were steep though around $9 - so we bought from IGA - 6 turks head beer was $12 - good stuff! The Bed and the 7 pillows you had - 10/10. The houskeepers were fantastic - git some ice cream from IGA and give them a treat for their wonderful service like we did, they'll love it! The Casino is 5 min walk away and is small but you get some free drinks while playing. Bet on #8 on roulette for some winnings! The only downside was the INTERNET - you can plug the ethernet cable into your laptop and it will word better - Thanks VDM!!!

My husband and I booked with the VDM for our honeymoon. We stayed in the A bldg. The grounds were beautiful and the room...WOW!!! SO spacious! If you want to sleep in a bed that hugs you to sleep, this is the place! Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the kids pool. We didn't hear a peep out of anyone- it was just that quiet! The staff was great (we never had a drink at the bar b/c we were checking out all the other wonderful things the island had to offer), but I heard it is good. Our cleaning staff was extra nice and went above and beyond their duties. We got the one bedroom w/den. We loved the full kitchen with pots, pans and utensils, as well as the w/d in unit. The hotel is not right on the beach, but if you are looking at a GREAT place to stay in TCI for a great value, this is it!! The walk to the beach was maybe 2 minutes. We had the pool to ourselves each time we swam, and didn't have to worry about 10-12 children running and splashing. We have already talked about coming back next year we loved it that much! Our cable went out on SUnday night, but a big storm blew through so we think that's what happened. The water did have a "treated" smell to it, but it wasn't that bad. The hotel is within walking distance to a rental car place, IGA grocery store and the Port of Call shops as well as The Saltmills shops. The drawback was the internet was a bit spotty- the best reception happened to be in the bathroom. It was not that big of a deal, just my husband wanted to check his wk email and had a few issues with it. I would recommend this hotel to other traveling to the islands.

We were looking for a relaxing weekend away and found it at Villa del Mar. It's a new establishment with modern updated fixtures. It's only a 2 minute walk to the beach. Even with the close proximity to the grocery store and some hotel restaurants right along the beach, it is still best to rent a car. The island is small and you can get from one end to the other within 30 minutes. The best food (Da conch shack, Angela's Top of the Cove) is a little away from the resort area.

If you are on somewhat of a budget, this is the best deal you will find. The accomodations are beautiful - everything is brand new and very comfortable, and the people at the Del Mar are extremely friendly and will go out of their way for anything you need. The beach is directly across the street. It is somewhat quiet in the summer, so if you are looking for action this is likely not your place. One complaint - the little poolside bar and grill was closed when we were there last summer, likely because it was fairly new and not the high season. We did not find the food in Turks and Caicos to be that great, but we are somewhat food snobs living in Philly and New York City, and again that has nothing to do with the Del Mar. One recommendation, rent Sea-Doos for the two-hour guided tour. Not for the faint of heart, but a wicked good time and an excellent way to see all around the island!! All in all, the Del Mar was fantastic and definitely worth every penny. We were able to enjoy Turks & Caicos without spending a fortune.

Excellent hotel/resort. Directly across from the most beautiful beach you'll ever see or swim in. IGA grocery store a few minutes away and the grocery store has everything you would expect to see at home in your own - even the brand names are the same!!
Beautiful pools with small bar. Will definetely be returning again soon.

We stayed in one of the penthouses at Villa Del Mar for 5 days. The staff were amazing and very friendly, the rooms were very clean and I loved the decor. The location is perfect, it's close to the beach, a great food market and tons of restaurants. If we get back for a visit we would definately stay there again!

This property is very new and is not really a hotel. Its more a condo complex. In the rooms there are kitchenettes with microwave, coffee machine, cutlery, plates, etc. If you want something directly on the beach, this is not for you. The beach is +-100 meters away across the street. A hotel on the beach will also block the view. In my case, this was a non-issue. The beach is very close and also one of the prettier beaches I have seen. Rooms have individual wireless internet access points so the signal is very strong ; no going out on the balcony to get a better signal. The bed was super comfortable and the bathrooms very luxurious! Since this is a condo facility, there are not many staff on-site, so you may have to look for them if you need something.
