Seriously - I tried very hard to think of something negative to say about the West Bay Club to give my review a little more credibility, but I can't think of a single thing. We stayed in a 2-bedroom ocean view suite; and it was nicely-appointed, beautifully-decorated, spacious, and comfortable. We were on the first floor on the very end of the building, so we probably had the worst ocean view on the whole property, but it was still a great view. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful (making dinner reservations, getting cabs, etc.). The complimentary breakfast (continental + scrambled eggs) was fine. We didn't eat dinner at the Atlantic Grill, but we had dessert there one night and lunch there one day (we went to the IGA for "provisions" and mostly ate lunch in our suite), and both were good.
The beach was fantastic. I don't know if it's truly the "best beach in the world," but it's a very nice beach. We walked a couple of miles down the beach and found that the West Bay Club is situated on the widest part of the beach by far. There was plenty of room for families, couples, friends, etc., to spread out. Some of the other resorts down the beach had very small beaches with tons of people on them. The West Bay Club beach (and the whole resort, for that matter) never felt crowded.
The beach attendants were wonderful. They will set up chairs and umbrellas pretty much anyway you ask them to, and they are eager to help with all of the hotel's non-motorized watersport equipment (Hobie cat, sea kayaks, SUPs, windsurfer, snorkel equipment - really, anything you could want). We saw them take inexperienced operators (kids or adults - didn't matter) out on all of those items and teach them how to use them. They also brought around slices of delicious watermelon in the mid-morning every day as a complimentary snack. The beach chairs are nice and comfortable, and they set you up with two towels on each chair (I'm sure they'd give you more if you needed them).
We didn't use the pool, but only because I don't go to the Caribbean to spend my time in a swimming pool. It was beautiful, and the pool area looked very comfortable.
As far as Provo in general goes, the water there is the most beautiful I've ever seen. I've been all over the Caribbean, and the water is always beautiful, but I literally could not take my eyes off the water in Provo. We went snorkeling on a private charter on the Beluga (see my review there), and the snorkeling was also the best I've ever seen.
I don't do separate restaurant reviews, but we particularly enjoyed Coco Bistro and Mango Reef. We also ate at Hemingway's and Las Brisas. Hemingway's was more of a sports bar atmosphere (of course the final NFL playoff game was on when we were there, so that may have had something to do with it), but the food was good. The atmosphere at Las Brisas was outstanding (Chalk Sound is gorgeous), but the food was just okay. We went to Da Conch Shack on Thursday night (when they have live music), and that was definitely an experience. Delicious food in a strange combination of local/touristy atmosphere.
I do have one complaint about Provo in general: cab fare is insanely expensive. It's on a per-person basis, and it ranges from $6-15 per person (or maybe more) depending on the length of the trip (there were 3 of us, and the cab fare from the airport to West Bay Club was $45 - plus tip). HOWEVER, one of the cab drivers the front desk ladies called for us on the first day was so friendly and helpful that we kept requesting him after that, and after he had driven for us a couple of times, he started giving us breaks on the fares. We HIGHLY recommend Kalvin (local # 241-3576). Be good to him, and he'll be good to you.
