I have not stayed at the new Nikki Beach development, but on a recent trip to TCI, following the international marketing hype and having read Nikki beaches own website, I ventured to Leeward to have a look for future purposes. I was not happy with both what I saw (frankly the project is ugly), nor by the inappropriate positioning or future plans for extending the project.
The project that Nikki beach have now put their name to in TCI is, in my opinion, a shameful display of greed over sensible and sensitive eco aware development. The hotel, condominiums, marina and possibly even a man made island (Star island) will likely destroy one of the most spectacular marine corridors in the world. Whilst Nikki Beach must not be criticised for wanting to occupy such a naturally beautiful place the company should surely now stand up against the continued destruction of the area by the developer with whom it has entered into an agreement with.
As a forward thinking company commited to unique and fun experiences NB must surely realise that a young and increasingly eco-sensitive clientel will (hopefully) reject this inappropriate type of development for ones based on true (yes I too read the marketing about how 'green' this project is- do not believe the hype!) eco-aware development.
TCI is still wonderfully beautiful so please continue to go as I intend to, but please take a look at the destruction taking place partly in the name of Nikki Beach so that you may make an educated decision on whether to support this project before booking your stay here.
As a past Nikki Beach fan I for one am extremely disappointed that they will no longer feature on my list of possibles.
