“Repeat Guests - We Will Be Back”

Coco Reef Resort

Jun 1, 2008
4/4 found this review helpful

Hello from Cathy & Ian from sunny Dunblane,

We stayed at Coco Reef 8-15 May after a week in Grenada; we had stayed at the hotel for a week in December 2005.

This must be the best hotel in Tobago; we have not stayed in any other hotel on the island but we have seen quite a few when we have stopped to pick up people for trips on the 'Island Girl' (by the way, this is an excellent catamaran trip), and some of the others look a little past their sell-by dates!

As repeat guests we were very impressed to be met on arrival by members of staff who knew our names and we very happy with the 'fast track' check-in for repeat guests, so if you have been before don't forget to mention this when you book your holiday. We were also allowed to have a courtesy room until 6.00pm on the day we left, which was a real bonus as we had used Virgin's chill-in, check-out service at 8.00am!

The hotel has a stunning location with a very clean and safe beach within the man-made lagoon. For those of you who were staying at Coco Reef at the same time, you may remember a man walking up and down the beach most mornings and afternoons, well that was me. For those of you who want to keep fit and work off the calories from the excellent food at the hotel please note that 10 times along the beach is equal to a mile. You might think I'm mad but after 2 weeks of all-inclusive living I put on exactly 0.1 kilos.

The hotel is great for couples and families with young children, although we suspect that older children might get a little bored. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We will be back soon.

Ian & Cathy

“No place in the world I would rather be.....”

This really is the most wonderful relxing friendly place we have ever been to. I can not understand people who are saying anything different to this.

We were lucky enough to get married at the Coco Reef and had the most amazing day of our lives. The staff are all so friendly and nothing is too much trouble - to many to mention but a few are- Kename, Janelle, Lucy, Gery, Mikey, Pat, Tele. Our wedding day was special enough but they really did make us feel as though we were the most important people there not just for the day but for our entire stay.

There were 15 people in our party and they could not have done more to make everything go as smoothly as possible.

The hotel has a colonial home feel to it and so it has a lovely friendly unique laid back vibe that we have not found anywhere else. I can honestly say that there is no where else I would rather be than in Tobago staying at the Coco Reef.

Rooms, Food, Views, Beach, Drinks and service are all superb. I went to the bar only once in our stay as there is always somebody around to take your order and get your drink for you even when you are on the beach - its these little things that really make it a super hotel

I would not have changed anything about our stay or wedding day apart from having to leave

“superb relaxing holiday at coco reef”

Coco Reef Resort

May 20, 2008

We have just returned home after a really enjoyable relaxing holiday at Coco Reef. This was our second visit, that we enjoyed just as much as the first one last year. If you want a quiet, relaxing beach holiday in informal surroundings, swimming and snorkelling with excellent food then Coco Reef is the place for you. It is definitely not the place for those looking for lots of activities, children, large groups and late night revellers.

We disagree with some other reviews and had a garden facing room in the main part of the hotel which was quiet and extremely spacious, overlooking the established tropical landscaped gardens. The housekeeping staff made a real effort every day to decorate the room with flowers which was much appreciated.

The soft sandy beach is a main feature of the resort - with excellent safe snorkelling around the manmade coral reef, that is a haven for tropical fish.

The food is superb, with an excellent choice - the Chef and his team should be congratulated.

Eric, the general manager goes out of his way to ensure that guests are made welcome and are looked after by his staff - if there any issues during your stay he sorts them out promptly and with minimal fuss.

Yes the accomodation is not 5 star luxury, and could do with a bit of a refurb and some of the staff are not as on the ball as they might be but who wants to stay in a stuffy characterless palace that could be just about anywhere in the world - not us!

We will definitely return...

We have just returned from the Coco Reef resort and had a fabulous time. The hotel is a few minutes from the airport but we were not disturbed by aircraft noise at all.
Check in was very smooth, as the taxi drew up the car doors were opened and we were escorted to a table where we were given a welcome cocktail. Our luggage disappeared and we were reunited with it in the room.
The rooms were adequate but with such beautiful scenary outside we spent very little time there.
The staff are reserved but helpfiul and professional. The service on the beach was excellent, drinks were brought to you on request. I would certainly recommend all inclusive, the food is exceptional in Tamaras and varied choice in the beach bar., most drinks including cocktails are included.
With regard to the Spa and gym, I felt the facilities are adequate but you can get plenty of excercise outside
The entertainment is good and finishes at 22.30 so not intrusive.
The manager takes any complaints seriously and comment cards are read and actioned promptly.
We were there for a week and will return at the earliest opportunity. There are very few negatives at the Coco Reef so try it for yourself

“General experience”

Coco Reef Resort

The hotel is great for couples or families who like to spend the whole day at the beach. It's is very save and clean. The sea is beautiful and very calm. There are also enough trees which protect you against the strong sun.
Some rooms are very nice, mainly the Junior Suites and Suites. Don't book any garden view room! Especially those in the main building are not nice at all. They are dark & small and there is no space for the clothes. The bathrooms are in bad condition and very small, too. Furthermore, you hear every word spoken by your neighbours.
The food is good but not excellent. There could also be more variety. Mainly we missed a bigger offer of vegetables.
The staff is mostly friendly but with some exceptions not well skilled. Some training should be recommended to the management.
The sports facilities are poor regarding the gym and a real spa we could not find. But anyhow, at this hotel you should not spend too much time indoor. It would be a shame.
The hotel is very well situated. It's close to the airport but not noisy and there are some nice restaurants next to it.
In general you should only stay at the Coco Reef, if the hotel itself is not very important for you. Then you will have a great time. If you are looking for a five star deluxe hotel, don't go there.
