This was our family's first trip to Tobago and I reckon we hit the jackpot as far as accommodation was concerned. Plantation Villas certainly lived up to its billing and provided a very comfortable base for our holiday. The villa itself was very well fitted and comfortable. The welcome from the staff was warm and helpful and the maid service was brilliant. Ask her to cook an evening meal for you - it was just wonderful and well worth the few extra dollars. The Seahorse restaurant - just a hundred metres along the road - was terrific and we ate there on three occasions - food and service first rate although the prices are nearer european than caribbean. We enjoyed the quiet and relaxing location. The pool was like a warm bath and bar service friendly. For us the fact that the Carribbean is literally a few seconds away was just great. There were no crowds and there was no one trying to sell you trips, craft goods etc etc unlike around the other hotels and apartments. Swimming was very easy and we even managed to see a turtle laying its eggs on the beach one night. Sunsets were spectacular and best viewed after a cocktail. The bird life around the villas was amazing as were the iguanas. The mosquitoes and insects were a wee bit of a nuisance and visitors should bring a good supply of creams and sprays. The island itself was delightful. It was the start of the rainy season when we went so we had some amazing rainstroms which lasted for a few minutes and then disappeared. The temperature however was never below 30 degrees. Because of the location of Plantation Beach, I hired a car for the fortnight - not all that cheap and the driving is , let's say different - and that gave us flexibility. All in all, Plantation Beach was the perfect base for a relaxing, quiet and very enjoyable holiday.
