“Great for the Nature buffs and not so buffs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2014

We arrived over an hour late for the tour due to the weather, and we expected that we would not get the guide, because we were late!! When we got to the desk, paid etc. the receptionist informed us we had missed the tour and probably would not get a guide. It was a group of seven so we decided that was okay, but she told us wait, went found the head guide who was getting ready to leave and he agreed to give us a tour (found this out after). He took us down the trail for a 20 minute tour, which felt like we received an hour of information about the Habitat, the plants, animals, and of course the birds. It was great, and we plan to make our way back up there for a full day, or even overnight!!

“Good for a day out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

Good for a day out. Interesting things to see. A very nice man made pool but the water is ice cold. A great spot for bird watchers. It is a far drive from the city though for tourists. Nice view of the valley.

“Nature Lovers Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

Just my second visit to the Asa Wright Nature Center and will certainly not be my last. Being a budding wildlife photographer this location provides the ideal location for shooting over a hundred species of birds and other wildlife. The veranda provides an excellent vantage point for looking out over the valley below. The feeders in the veranda attract a variety of hummingbirds, honeycreepers and bananaquits. Whilst the ones below can also attract other wildlife such as the Gold tegu or even the Common agouti.
For those who prefer a more natural environment without the feeders, the nature trails around the veranda leads you into the hillside where other wildlife can be seen. There is also a natural pool called the Clearwater Pool where you can take a dip in all day long if you wish.

“A Western Hemisphere Birding Mecca”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

Asa Wright Nature Centre is one of the best spots in the world for both serious and casual birdwatchers. We have birded fairly extensively all over the Caribbean, and in Costa Rica and Mexico, and still managed to bag 41 life birds here in four days. We also saw a lot of beautiful birds that we have seen before. A really pleasant experience was having coffee on the veranda of the main building (a refurbished cocoa plantation) each morning while looking out over a beautiful jungle valley and seeing at least 25 species of gorgeous tropical birds up close and personal.
The staff without exception were pleasant, helpful, and well informed. Our tour, arranged by Caligo Ventures of Arizona, was comprehensively complete. It included meals, lodging, airport transfers, on site guide service, and two excellent side trips. The first was an evening trip to a beach to watch big leatherback turtles lay their eggs. The other trip was to Caroni Swamp where we took a boat trip and saw hundreds of gorgeous scarlet Ibises.
The rooms are pleasant but not terribly luxurious and the food was okay, but not great. We were there the first week of June and the rainy season in Trinidad begins about then, but we had pleasant weather for our stay.

“Looking for Nature, Peace and Quiet ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Asa Wright Nature Centre has what you need for a great retreat alone or with company. I took my kids here. The staff was so accommodating and informative. They learnt so much and best of all they came away with a greater appreciation of the need for preservation and love for nature. The quiet and secured facilities are safe enough to walk alone and reconnect with yourself. The view from the restaurant terrace is awesome.
