“VEOMA ALI's favourite place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

The history of this site is as rich as Caribbean religious history can get. For an inspirational escape and one of the loveliest views, this is your spot. The winding roads to get there have been neatly paved and it can be quite lonely. Be alert, but also be enchanted!

“Nice vantage point”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

The narrow drive up reveals amazing views of central and southern Trinidad. Worth a look. Don't drive all the way to the top as that's where the drug rehab center is and there isn't anywhere to really park and have a clear view. Best to stop at the church itself and at the seminary. The seminary has the clearest views, you'll see the entrance thru a cast iron gate on the right when you drive up. The church itself has a gift shop on the grounds as well as a small refreshment shop.

“just drove up the hill at sunset”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

The monastery is situated on the hill well above the city and has a lovely view including the airport. You can see the church, the guest house looks like a beautiful setting, and walk around in the gardens. We were also impressed with the number of people walking/running up the hill for exercise... it is quite a commitment!

We didn't do anything more formal, though I believe there are scheduled tours and a gift shop if you're interested in a longer or more formalized visit. Word has it there are not many monks left living there, and some of the property is leased out to other enterprises already, so I wouldn't be sure how long things will go on there.

“Serene”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Top of a mountain in north Trinidad with stunning views of Central Trinidad.

Nice little restaurant - wish I had known about it in advance of my trip to make reservations.

You can walk through the mountain trails and have a look at some artifacts and other historical things.

Lots of history associated with this place - it was one of the few places in the world where exorcism was done by the catholic church.

I got a lot of info by asking around, but would have been nice to have a tour guide who knows the inside outs.
