“LOVELY BUT EXPENSIVE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Day trip to Mustique. Our taxi driver dropped us at the Cotton House Hotel where we had lunch. I had a Steak Melt with Salad and Coleslaw and the best Cuban Mohito I have ever tasted. My partner had Red Snapper with Fries and Coleslaw with a wonderful Fruit Smoothie. The bill which included another 2 beers was US$96, horrendously overpriced for what we had. However, it was delicious. Only downside was another guest who had 2 dogs with her in the restaurant, and who didn't seem to bother where these dogs were, wandering around the whole area. Money obviously talks :(

“Perfect spot for lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

The Beach Café, a waterfront annex of the Cotton House hotel on Endeavour Bay on Mustique’s west coast, was a great addition to the island when built about a dozen years ago. It’s a perfect spot for lunch, located right at the edge of the sandy beach, with views out toward Bequia and along the coast. The food has steadily improved over the years, and lunches now are a real treat for those staying on the island. The menu has a mix of interesting salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, grilled fish, and pastas, including daily specials, and a nice wine list. Like everything else on Mustique, it could not be considered inexpensive. It is very casual, most people coming in swim suits with cover-ups. The café is open to hotel guests and to those who own or rent houses on the island; I’m not certain if it is open to those arriving on the island from boats for just a few hours, since other reviewers seem to not have felt welcome in that circumstance. The island in general is not set up for “nonresidents,” with the exception of Basil’s, where many of the patrons are from boats stopping in the harbour.

“Second class citizens”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012

We arrived by boat To Mystique and were greeted by a 30 ec$ visitors charge per person. Oh well we think this place has got to be worth it. Then we were informed that we couldn't go to Macoroni beach - there were celebrities there. Oh well never mind - we guessed that there was bound to be other great places to visit. We were recommended the Cotton House. $15 us to get there - no worries - sure it would be well worth it. To find a nice beach - beautiful sea - although beach not easily accessible due to coral/rocks. The cotton house looked very inviting and pristine with comfy loungers and double hammocks dotted around. Staff looked impeccable too.

On trying to order food/ drinks we were interrogated as to where we were staying, we were not allowed to access the restaurant, we were frowned on as we were still damp from the sea and I was required to fetch a towel so as not to dirty any outdoor seats I sat in. The clear feeling we got was that we were not welcome. We were asked to move our things away from the restaurant and the staff did not seem to trust that we were not going to disappear without paying our bill. I said thank you numerous times with not so much as a your welcome once. Very disappointing atmosphere. Very pretentious feel. We asked for a taxi to be ordered which unsurprisingly was no trouble at all. A real disappointment. I was a legitimate visitor - with money to spend - felt like the scene in pretty woman when she walks into the shop and is not considered good enough to spend her money. A real shame.
