We had a great week at The Cotton House. The property is very elegant and comfortable and the staff is very good and well trained. They go out of their way to look after you and add little touches to make your stay even more enjoyable.

We were there at the start of the low season and the hotel was quiet -- which was ideal for us. We were given a better room than we had booked, without asking and without the hotel even mentioning it: it was just done, graciously and thoughtfully. That was typical of the place and its excellent manager, Pippa Ona Williamson.

The beach is beautiful, with good service from the nearby Beach Cafe. There is a scuba diving centre on site, and also kayaks, sailing boats, etc.

The housekeeping is excellent: our room was kept beautifully by a delightful member of staff.

The food is good, but not great; perhaps not surprising for an island like Mustique where all supplies are imported. Breakfast and dinner are served on the airy and elegant verandah: a delightful setting. Thankfully, unlike so many hotels these days (even first class ones), breakfast is ordered from a menu, instead of a buffet.

“Good hotel, but do be careful when eating...”

The hotel itself is pretty standard fare for the level at which it is pitched, and the staff are helpful and professional but perhaps, ahem, on occasion, a little stiff.

Fantastic location and stretch of beach, with some of the best snorkelling in Mustique just off the shoreline.

Do be on your guard at the beach Cafe though. Our party sat down to eat here (after being regular customers for some time) and witnessed birds helping themselves to food from plates destined to go to diners. The wily birds weren't shy, we're talking feet and all in the plate..

OK if the plates were then replaced, but not so. We then watched the staff re-arranging the food on the plate and serving it.

In one example the birds waded into the mayonaisse pecking into the various other condiments, and a member of staff shooed them away, stirred the condiments and served that as well.

As it's bad form to raise an issue on here without bringing it to the establishments attention (how old fashioned), I spoke to one of the staff who had witnessed the event. His response was that we needed water pistols to scare the birds. Hmmm. Not protective nets for the food then!?

We declined to eat there any more after that (drinks only), which is a pity because the location is great.

When you charge a top line rate and are present in a top line resort then expectations are raised. When you then deliver less than average you have a problem.

S.

“The Cotton House has improved!”

On our last stay we found the restaurant a little disappointing. The tiled floor remains (such a pity its not wood) but the Menu and the food have both improved considerably. The waiting staff at the restaurant are OK but nothing like the staff at the Beach Bar/Restaurant who are as good as they come, as is Pippa, who runs the Cotton House superbly; visit while she is still there!

This time we stayed in a room by the beach with a small pool which was nice but the bedroom was not very large and would have been better with less furniture. The use of the other space was not very efficient but that is part of the charm.

Other than the things I mentioned everything else was superb. They are also great at arranging planes, booking restaurants even on different island etc etc

From moment you arrive you realise you have found something very very special. You are greeted firstly at Barbados airport by a representative from CH who guides you through immagration and customs and then directly to you light aircraft for the 40 minute transfer. On arrival on Mustique another representative of the hotel collects you and takes you to the hotel where waiting to meet you is the GM Pippa.
Pippa and all of the staff make it clear from the offset that whatever requirements you may have they will endeavour to deliver. All members of staff were extremely polite and helpful at all times and virtually all of them called you by name,a nice touch.
The grounds of the hotel are immaculate as are the rooms which are spacious and airy we stayed in a duplex suite with the advantage of your own pool which to be honest you dont really need as although the hotel was full some days there was nobody at all around the main pool.
Food at both resturants was superb with discreet yet top quality service.
Mustique is a great place to explore rent a mule from the hotel and off you go the hotel will deliver your picnic to whichever beach you fancy they will drop you off and collect you from the other resturants on the island in short nothing was a problem well done and thankyou to Pippa and all of her team.

“Perfect Honeymoon- Hidden Paradise”

The Cotton House

Mar 6, 2008

To say that the Cotton House is amazing, is an understatement! My husband and I went here for our honeymoon in late August and had the most incredible experience. The staff could not have been any more helpful and attentive. From the second that they picked us up at the airport we felt so comfortable and pampered. The meals at the Cotton House are very good, but if you want a change i would highly recomend going over to Fireflies. The Cotton House staff will drop you off and pick you up. The whole island communicates with each other and everyone is just so friendly. The sunset at Fireflies is magnificent and the food is excellent.!
We also used the gym and spa at the Cotton House- very nice!
On our last day ( we were going back to St. Vincent to catch a flight to Antigua) there were high winds and they had to close the airport. The Cotton House staff stayed with us the whole time, brought us back and helped us rearrange our travel plans. we had to switch rooms for the additional night- so we got the opportunity to see another room. During our stay we resided in the COUTINOT SEA-FRONT ROOMS which had our own private plunge pool. Only way to go!!!!
For our additional layover night we stayed in one of the cottages. very pretty- but does not even come close to the sea-front rooms.

Overfall- fabulous trip! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away to a completly serene and peaceful beach- where no one will bother you!
