“Perfect Honeymoon- Hidden Paradise”

The Cotton House

Mar 6, 2008

To say that the Cotton House is amazing, is an understatement! My husband and I went here for our honeymoon in late August and had the most incredible experience. The staff could not have been any more helpful and attentive. From the second that they picked us up at the airport we felt so comfortable and pampered. The meals at the Cotton House are very good, but if you want a change i would highly recomend going over to Fireflies. The Cotton House staff will drop you off and pick you up. The whole island communicates with each other and everyone is just so friendly. The sunset at Fireflies is magnificent and the food is excellent.!
We also used the gym and spa at the Cotton House- very nice!
On our last day ( we were going back to St. Vincent to catch a flight to Antigua) there were high winds and they had to close the airport. The Cotton House staff stayed with us the whole time, brought us back and helped us rearrange our travel plans. we had to switch rooms for the additional night- so we got the opportunity to see another room. During our stay we resided in the COUTINOT SEA-FRONT ROOMS which had our own private plunge pool. Only way to go!!!!
For our additional layover night we stayed in one of the cottages. very pretty- but does not even come close to the sea-front rooms.

Overfall- fabulous trip! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away to a completly serene and peaceful beach- where no one will bother you!

Located on the beautiful island of Mustique, The Cotton House reigns as the most wonderful respite from reality one can find. Everything is first class. From the powdery white beaches to the selection of pillows one can choose from, nothing is overlooked on this island paradise. My first visit was two years ago and I'm happy to say that this visit even surpassed my previous one. When my husband and I arrived at the hotel, it felt like we were visiting friends. The staff is sensational without being intrusive. It is one of those places where people are always genuine in their happiness.

We were warmly greeted by Simonique who managed our reservations and oversees the front office. Since I was last there, a new general manager was in place. Her name is Pippa and she makes it her personal mission to insure that you have everything you need and want. There is also a newly installed kitchen from Italy, complete with the adorable Giacomo who was there to make sure everything was working as it should. And a new chef, who was making his debut the day after we left.

One afternoon we came back from the beach and stopped in the great house to use the communal computer to discover everyone decorating a newly erected Christmas tree. That night the entire great room was fully decorated for the holidays and twinkled like the stars in the Carribean sky.

If you are looking to kick up your heels and need to listen to techno music, this is not the place for you. But if you enjoy beauty, tranquiility and luxury on the beach, then nothing can beat The Cotton House. While no place is totally perfect, The Cotton House comes pretty damn close. I warn you, however, it is addictive... we plan on going back again next year. Once you find your paradise, it's hard to stay away.

We were over in Barbados but were unhappy with the beach and what we felt was overcrowding and widespread construction activity so off we went to Mustique after 3 days.
We called the Cotton House and a lovely lady called Simmonique in reservations could not have been more helpful, an attitude we found with all staff and management right the way up to Pippa the GM who is a real pro. Within 20 minutes not only did she find space for us (entailing a couple of room changes and an upgrade) but also booked our flights and arranged meet and greet on departure and arrival. This was not special to us but available to all.
As soon as we arrived we knew we were going to love it!
Cheap it ain't but boy do you get your money's worth. There are only 17 rooms of different types, sizes and facilities including pools etc.
First few days we had a Grenadine Suite. No sea view but two splendid rooms and two of them have pools. Next we had the Tower room which is one room but a character and view to die for. you sit on the balcony for breakfast overlooking cove and beach and then the sunsets......
Finally we were upgraded to a duplex suite which has two floors and a pool which was great.
In the hotel there is a lovely (and usually peaceful) pool and a fabulous beach which is great to snorkel from. On the beach there are plenty of spread out sun umbrellas and very comfortable sun beds. There are two guys who work the pool and beach, they are Kenny and Sean, two St Vincent guys who also epitomise the friendly attitude of the hotel.
The spa and gym are very good as is the main restaurant and beach cafe where you get the greatest sundowners in view and drink!
The island itself is very pretty with lots of beautiful beaches that are practically deserted apart from very useful sun shades and tables set up where the hotel will deliver a picnic if asked. you get around if you hire motorised golf carts which cost around US$50 per day. Go to Macaroni beach and live the dream.
Hotel food is good but not the cheapest. so for a change go to Basils overwater restaurant/bar especially on their 'Jump Up' evening on Wednesdays (I think) or try the Firefly which is a great place to eat as well as a great late evening watering hole.
Would we go back? like a shot! Second time we might take a villa or book the two bed villa attached to the Cotton House.
My advice? go there and enjoy!

“Fantastic Hideaway”

The Cotton House

I stayed at the Cotton House for a week at the beginning of the year. It was the first time I have been away as a single female traveller and I approached the experience with some trepidation. However, the staff were fanatastic calling me by name and making me feel truly welcome. The Hotel is owned by the Mustique Company Limited, but run by independants. The ethos is very much on privacy, security and Pippa, the general manager is absolutely great at front of house, making every guest feel special. The grounds are beautifully laid out, the beach is one of the best snorkelling beaches on the island and the spa has some of the friendliest staff I have come accross. I will most certianly be returning.

“Best Hotel in the World?”

The Cotton House

Apr 24, 2007
4/4 found this review helpful

We have just returned from a week in Mustique where we stayed at the Cotton House.

This is a great hotel on a paradise island. We stayed in a Lower Level Messel room, which despite being described as not having a view, actually had an awesome view across to the sea and the beautiful gardens of the hotel and the island.

The room was decorated in a Old Provence / rustic style entirely appropriate to a tropical island, and was very well appointed, very tasteful, and very practical. They even gave a provided a can of insect repellent! To answer a point made by another reviewer, the coffee machine in the room was a professional Nespresso machine that made proper coffee, and there was no charge for it's use.

We arrived at the hotel a day late thanks to a 3 hour delay on our Virgin Atlantic flight which caused us to miss our connecting flight. What did the Cotton house do? Re-booked us on to flights the next day, reserved a room for us at a Hotel on Barbados, and made their representative in Barbados available to help out.. That level of attention was typical throughout our stay. Requests were dealt with quickly and with no fuss. All staff, without exception, were friendly and professional. No stuffiness at all, just simple good service.

The nice thing about this hotel is that it doesn't feel like your staying in one. Our room felt like it was a room in someone's holiday home. The various little buildings that make up the hotel are all roomy and spaced out, and contribute to the feeling tranquility. There are no gates, no security guards, and on Mustique you genuinely don't feel you need them.

Mustique is a very special island, and the Cotton House is a fine hotel.

The only negative? I have to agree with some of the other reviews that describe the food as being a bit average, so we ended up mostly having lunch/dinner at Basil's Bar. The food in the hotel is actually not at all bad, and on a par with many so-called high end restaurants in London, it's just that the standards are so high everywhere else in the Hotel, that you expect the food to be the best you've ever tasted.
