We have just had the most wonderful short break with Bob and Marie at Seaclusion suites. When searching the Web for somewhere to stay you never know whether you can believe what is said on a website. In this case the only inaccuracy was that the website failed to do justice to an absolutely superb location.

From the moment Bob picked us up at the charming little airport to when he dropped us at the ferry at the end of the stay we were made to feel like family friends. Nothing was too much trouble for him or Marie. The room was spotless and comfortable and the view!!! Well I have never seen anything like it. They even laid on a pair of whales cavorting in the sea immediately below us as we arrived. This was a first for us and set the tone for a very special stay. Being high up, as well as a lovely view there was always a cooling breeze and it was so peaceful. The only sound you could hear at night was the chirruping of the cicadas and tree frogs and the gentle lap of the waves in the distance.

5 minutes walk down through their garden was what I can only describe as the most perfect beach I have ever seen. Soft white sand, deep turquoise sea and shady trees along its edge. All this and we hardly saw a soul the whole time we were there. Perfect!!

In the evenings we didn't bother to go searching for places to eat as we had our own resident gourmet chef on hand (Marie) to prepare the most amazing meals. How she does it I don't know but to sit on our own terrace, underneath the stars, as Marie and Bob served us some fabulous food was the icing on the cake.

One day they took us on an island tour which was nothing like an organised bus trip. After loading the jeep with sandwiches, snacks and lots of cold beers for lunch we set off to the most inaccessible and surely unvisited parts of the island as well as the usual sights. Everyone we passed seemed to know them and we must have waved to almost everyone on the island! Lunch was taken on another perfect beach after a swim in the sea. What a day, followed by another of Marie's special dinners.

If you want a quiet, restful holiday away from it all I cannot recommend anywhere else. This was as good as it gets. Thanks guys for everything!

This is without a doubt the best guesthouse I have stayed in. Hosts Bob & Marie are unfailingly welcoming & helpful without ever being intrusive. Marie's food is delicious, plentiful & extremely good value for money. Bob's local knowledge is unrivalled & he can organise any activity you want at a reasonable price - the day-long boat trip is particularly recommended. The suites themselves are immaculately clean, extremely comfortable & feature kitchenettes complete with fridge & cooker - although once you try Marie's cuisine you won't need the latter! There are breathtaking views across Sandy Island to Union Island, Palm Island, and The Tobago Cays, & a gentle breeze cools you as you relax on the comfortable balcony and watch the hummingbirds, bananaquits, & grackles amongst the aloe blooms. It is a short walk to any one of three local beaches, each of which is a delight for snorkelling and bathing. The surrounding countryside is wonderful for hiking & Bob can arrange vehicle hire if you want to explore - we rented a jeep for four days, but returned it early as we found there was nowhere better than where we were. If you want to eat out, incidentally, Bob or Marie will drop you off and collect you from the restaurant of your choice. Carriacou is a fabulously laid back place, but if you want complete serenity you would be foolish to book at carnival time or during one of the local drumming festivals - although Seaclusion is far enough away from Hillsborough for this really not to be a problem. This place truly is the zenith of peace and tranquility. We will be back.

“Perfection!”

Seaclusion Suites

This place is absolutely wonderful! We were looking for an island getaway that would be remote, romantic, affordable and exquisitely beautiful and Seaclusion Suites surpassed our every expectation. Set on a hillside with panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding islands, the suites – run by a caring and committed couple Bob and Marie – are clean, private, comfortable and deeply romantic. The hillside location guarantees cool breezes throughout the day with almost an absence of bugs, ideal for sleeping and lounging under the stars. A 5-minute walk down the hill brings you to pristine, practically private white and black sand beaches with shady almond trees to escape the sun and excellent swimming, shell-collecting, and snorkeling right from the beach. We spent most of our days hanging out on these stunning beaches and rarely saw another person.

Better yet, Marie is a gourmet cook whose meals will leave you coming back for more. Her attention to detail and willingness to accommodate her guests’ culinary preferences were outstanding – the food, the presentation, and her creativity in the kitchen were by far the best we found on Carriacou (including the highly touted “best restaurant on the island!”)

Bob’s knowledge of the island’s history, culture, topography, flora and fauna were extremely interesting and helpful. He is a committed environmentalist who has a thoughtful and progressive relationship to the local environment and its resources (Seaclusion Suites are solar-powered). Fresh water on the island is scarce; Bob and Marie live in a way that reflects an attitude of conservation and respect for this precious resource and they ask their guests to do the same, which we found to be only a minor inconvenience.

We traveled around the island quite a bit, saw many of the other accommodations available, and felt so incredibly fortunate to have discovered Seaclusion Suites and to have met Bob and Marie, who are genuinely friendly and gracious hosts. For travellers seeking a spectacular situation, off the beaten path, we could not recommend Seaclusion Suites more highly.

“A wonderful haven”

Seaclusion Suites

We recently stayed at Seaclussion for 10 days before Christmas - and what a wonderful time we had. Bob & Marie are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble.

The location is stunning and a lot of time was spent just gazing out at the views. Within walking distance you have choice of three natural wild tourist free beaches each with its own character and great snorkelling. A lot of time was spent watching pelicans diving into the sea for their lunch and crabs doing what crabs do!

I was 19 weeks pregnant at the time so cleanliness was an important issue for us and we found the acommodation to be spotless and the many meals Marie cooked for us were delicious & plenty!

Whilst there the annual Perang Festival was taking place so we prepared ourselves for a lot of caribbean loud partying - but to our amazement was not to be! You could occasionally hear some noise carried over by the wind, but surely that is part of the culture of the island. Carriacou is not a tourists island, it is one of the few which is still for the locals where tourists are
welcome to come and share their lives.

We wanted a peaceful, relaxing holiday to unwind after a very stressful year. We could not have gone to a better place or better people. We will certainly consider going back one day to introduce our baby to Bob & Marie and where he/she first went snorkelling in the wonderful warm seas.

Don't go there if you want 5 star 'I could be in any country hotel room', go their if you want 5 star ' in touch with nature & the environment living'.

“Not Tranquil at Night”

Seaclusion Suites

We recently stayed for the first time at Seaclusion and find that its website is misleading, It is certainly a tranquil location during the daytime, but if any of the many festivals are happening at the time of your stay there, be prepared for disturbance at night-time (for us on one occasion until 4 am).
We know that Carriacou gets livelier during fetes, festivals and carnivals, (we’ve stayed on Carriacou 13 times at the same time of year, so we are in a position to make a valid judgement) and were kept awake with the excessive noise levels from music being played as far away as 3 miles.
