“Prepare for disappointment!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

Buccament Bay is set in a gorgeous location without question. This is where the website begins and ends in its correctness of description of this resort.
Pros...John Barnes was coach at the soccer and this was excellent. As was the tennis coaching too.
The bar staff... Lionel and Carlson especially... Both exceptional individuals who do their utmost to help make your holiday special..
Villas very nice....

Cons...they advertise trader vics...this is not even built yet...
They advertise ginger and co sushi bar... We saw this once in nine days....
They advertise Safran as fine Indian cuisine... This is not fine cuisine at all... It can barely be described as Indian and is housed in a spare soulless villa next to a pond... You will be eaten alive by Mosquitos on an outside table!!!! In fact one night they ran out of Indian ingredients and changed it to a South American buffet... Numerous people walked out and were disgusted by what was on offer...
They advertise Jacks which is a steakhouse.... They ran out of steak three times in our nine day stay...people were ordering filet mignon on our last night and getting sirloin cut in half and stacked on top of each other... If you manage to get what you order however it is very nice...they advertise HQ which a nice coffee shop but repeatedly ran out of vanilla ice cream...not great for a resort full of children.
The bay beach club food is bland, repetitive and tasteless... Evening meals are served with plastic glasses...this restaurant is open every day... Jacks and Safran three days per week. Bamboo open once for breakfast. No Asian cuisine to be seen anywhere.
To sum up, management were awful and were seen partying whilst guests were unhappy and really didn't care if there any issues or not...
We were so disappointed with the quality we have checked out three days early and head office are refusing to refund us. However our experience was so bad we decided to try and salvage something good from from our summer break... We will be contacting head office on our return to England...we will post photos on TA shortly... Be warned, the website paints a great picture but all is not what it seems at BB. We will never return.

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your constructive feedback and compliments. We are very proud of our team, many of them from the local area, so we appreciate their hard work being recognised.

As communicated to you during your stay, unfortunately there were temporary logistical issues outside of the resort’s control at that time due to the carnival season and management did everything possible to manage the situation, but we regret the issue and apologise for the detrimental affect it had on your experience with us. Please be assured that, as our many positive reviews show, such instances are very rare, even on a small island like St Vincent during one of the Caribbean’s biggest events.

To clarify your comment regarding Safran, the Latin evening was in fact planned by the chef to provide variety and not due to a lack of Indian cuisine. Please also be aware that Trader Vic’s is not advertised on our website and we take great pains to ensure the content is always up to date; however, it was erroneously advertised by the tour operator you used, so we contacted them and that has now been rectified.

Regarding your comment about management “partying”, please be assured that you are mistaken because the exceptional team you kindly commented on is only possible with an equally exceptional and professional management team, and they would never behave in such a way. Some other members of staff do their best to welcome and socialise with guests, which we believe is important and valuable for the customer experience, but our team prides itself on its excellent levels of service, so “partying” and disrespectful behaviour would never take place.

Head office awaits your communication and will respond promptly.

We hope you will consider us again.

Regards,

Buccament Bay Resort

we stayed at buccament bay in april this year, like all the other reviews stated this is a beautiful resort. The staff food villas everything about it makes it feel so special. But you should go and visit Bequia an idyllic and beautiful island so easy to do it yourself, local bus, ferry, then a open sided taxis on the island. my only disappiontment was the evening entertainment or lack of it,
would have be nice to have had some traditional music or acts occasionally

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

We stayed at BB last week with our 2 daughters (20&16). The resort is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The grounds are well kept while the villa was comfortable, spacious, and luxurious. The two pools were beautiful and the sun loungers were very comfortable. We expected this from the reviews and were not disappointed. However, we also expected that we would have more choices of meals because of the restaurants advertised on the web site, but we were disappointed to find that certain restaurants were only open on certain days. Jack's is a wonderful steakhouse with superb food and excellent atmosphere (plus its the only one air-conditioned). We were able to eat there twice. Saffron is an Indian Restaurant with mainly outdoor seating (a few inside tables)and is currently housed in one of the villas. They served excellent Indian cuisine, but because it is outside (even the inside tables were open to the outside) we were eaten alive by mosquitoes! The Bay Beach Club is where all breakfasts were served buffet style, including an omelette station and a smoothie station (you have to ask to have fruit cut for you and served as a fruit plate-but this takes a while). It is an open restaurant where it was often hot and humid (again, outside). Lunches available only at the Bay Beach Club consisted of a mediocre salad bar and short menu or sushi from Ginger and Co. Sushi which is also located at the bar in the Bay Beach Club, but again, Ginger & Co. only on certain days (lunches only). A couple of days, Murphy grilled up some tasty prawns, chicken, burgers, ribs, or fish by the pool area. HQ is a coffee/ice cream/smoothie shop (some sandwiches) which is air-conditioned. Room service is available 24 hours but a $10 charge. Bamboo looks like a really neat outdoor restaurant, but it wasn't open for any of our visit! I understand we visited during a slow time, but we expected to have more than one choice for each meal. It was also very frustrating waiting sometimes 30-45 minutes for the servers to bring out your bill for EVERY meal (even though it's all inclusive, you still receive a bill to sign). By the end of the week, we simply asked for it as soon as we finished eating.

The beach is very, very small (what you see in the picture is it!). It was fun to watch the locals come and swim and the fisherman work in the bay. We took advantage of the resort's kayaks and snorkel equipment. They also offered sail boats, paddle boards, volleyball....typical beach toys. There was also a dive shop; my husband and daughter went on the kayak/snorkel trip which is offered everyday for $15 per person. They loved it and thought it was definitely worth doing.

We truly wanted to do a boat excursion, but the minimum number of people was not met (~10) and was cancelled due to possible rough seas the one day we were scheduled for a trip to Mustique. This was a disappointment as we really wanted to see some of the area. A free sunset cruise is included, but is only offered one night and unfortunately we left that day and did not have the opportunity to enjoy it (heard it's very nice). So, as for activities, it was somewhat boring for our family. We did not use the tennis or cricket facilities. The exercise facilities had 3 out-of-service ellipticals and only one working treadmill (located in a villa). For the quality and expense of this resort, that was unfortunate.

As from other reviews, the LIAT exchange is not pleasant. We stayed in Barbados the night before and had no problems flying to St. Vincent on the first flight of the morning. On our return, we waited in a long line at the airport, where confusion abounded. Flight times are really only suggestions, so get there early. Half of our luggage was left in St. Vincent (as was about 20 other passengers) due to weight issues (LIAT also is a cargo provider), therefore, luggage, not cargo is removed. Our luggage did make it back to Indiana, but do not expect any communication from LIAT regarding your lost luggage. If possible, pay extra and fly Air Mustique or SVG airlines; there were no lines and they appeared far more professional and organized. The flights were on time, and all passenger's luggage went with them to their destination. I heard about Harlequin airline coming soon, but looking at the progress thus far, it doesn't look appear so.

However, the staff is excellent. They really do try to make your visit relaxing and fun. Lionel, Carlisle, and Deven at the pool, Vibert the bartender, and Kim at HQ truly provided excellent service for us. Ivy kept our room spotless, and Francisca tried to accommodate our every desire (DVD player to excursions which never happened despite her efforts). We think this resort will be great (5 stars) when it is in full operation, but not exactly what we hoped for, especially for the time and hassle it takes to arrive/depart from the island. But, if you come with proper expectations, as the resort is not yet complete, all restaurants aren't open, not many activities offered, and no nightly entertainment, it is a beautiful, relaxing vacation. Don't forget your bug spray!

Room Tip: If you choose an ocean front villa, remember that in order to enjoy the view, you have to completely...

Thank you for reviewing your stay with us, we will take on board your constructive feedback.

We are delighted that you and your family had a great time on resort. Your compliments for the staff will be passed on and I am sure they will be pleased to hear what you have said.

We’re happy that you got to experience some the great amenities and facilities on resort including our fantastic onsite partners Indigo Dive & Watersports.

Unfortunately the amount of nights that our restaurants are open depends on how many villas are booked that week, but we always try to provide a wide variety of food for our guests.

Thank you for choosing our resort and we hope you will consider us again.

We spent 2 weeks at this resort in June for my daughters wedding and it is the best Caribbean resort I have ever stayed at the quality of accommodation, food and service is amazing there is no such thing as the word No at this resort if they haven't got it they will source it and provide it for you.

My daughters wedding was simply perfect Gennine and Sharon the wedding planners had listen to everything we asked for and we had a fantastic memorable day.

The management are very hands on at this resort they are visible throughout the day and are constantly asking for feed back which is so refreshing to see they really care.

As mentioned many times in previous reviews the staff here are outstanding, Lionel, Carlson Valdol and the rest of the pool guys make sure you have the best time round the pool providing drinks all day, murphy with his amazing Beach BBQ and great entertainment, all the restaurant staff at the Bay, Jacks , HQ , the lovely guys and girls at reception and not forgetting the beautiful voice of Andy who plays in Jacks it truly is a first class resort and would highly recommend it to any one .

Literally. I'm not rich but I am a world traveler. And Buccament Bay was THE nicest place I've ever stayed at. EVER! My room had simultaneous views of the oceans AND the mountains. The food was incredible and abundantly available to you at the bar, in your room, at the cafe, wherever you want it, good food is available. What really makes this place shine is the all-inclusive aspect of it. Snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, drinking, eating, its all worry-free.

The rooms are stunning, half of my villa was "outdoorsyish" with french doors that open to the outside to let the ocean breeze pass thru, patios on both sides, the private side having a plunge pool (think hot tub minus the hot). The other side is the airconditioned bedroom with a gorgeous bathroom with waterfall style overhead shower, amazing closet space, big flatscreen TV, etc.

The service in this place is also top notch. Every employee is extremely friendly and happy to help with any thing you might need. Also since the place is quite large, they do have bikes that you can use to get around. That just made the whole place for me. That plus the fresh fruit smoothies that I had like 3x a day. I love this place and will definitely be coming back in the future!

Room Tip: The best rooms are the ones nearest the pool/bar that face the ocean. When you get there you will se...

Visited May 2013. Accommodation first class - housekeeping twice a bay , food excellent, although perhaps a bit limited in Jacks. Drinks offering on the AI excellent. Ice cream and snacks from HQ lovely. Pool area and beach really nice although the beach is small (no long romantic walks along the beach) and top dressed with white sand which was showing signs of needing topping up - naturally black. The staff were "top" dollar, Special thanks to Keon and Henson at the bar - . Henson's smile could light up a room"!! The trips were great and although the one to Mustique was wonderful, the sea was incredibly choppy and a bit scary!! Do go into Kingstown - not typical pretty Caribbean town, but well worth a visit. Go for a drink at lunchtime in the rooftop bar/restaurant at the Cobblestone Inn.

Couple of negatives - at night the Bay Beach Club acts as both restaurant and bar - if you are not eating there but just want the bar facilities, you feel you are encroaching on people eating- could do with separate bar. There was no entertainment when we were there - given the remoteness of the resort, it definitely needs something.

The BIG issue - Liat airlines - absolutely appalling - no luggage either on the way there or on the way back!! Effectively, if they have a full complement of passengers, it is impossible for them to take everyone's luggage - the plane would be overweight, so major Health and Safety problem - add to this the fact that they also carry cargo - which clearly makes them more money than passengers and it is recipe for disaster. On our flight from Barbados to St Vincent, there were probably 50 passenger - only 3 cases arrived - we then spent two hours in a queue - no air conditioning - to report missing bags. They arrived early evening the next day. On the way back from St Vincent to Barbados slightly more bags arrived but still less than half. The Liat staff were pretty poor also. Make sure you take enough in your hand luggage on the way there, to last you a couple of days. To be fair BB provided toothbrush/paste etc and could not have been more apologetic-it clearly is a regular occurrence. However, I fear that unless something is done about this, not sure what - although BB say that they will be using Harlequin airlines for 2013 - clearly not happening yet - . Buccament could really suffer - I would not return for this specific reason and I am sure there will be other travellers who feel the same .

Room Tip: Wouldn't bother with sea view rooms as they are overlooked by everyone on the beach

As there was a lot of water around the hotel,we were worried that this may attract mosquitoes,so prior to booking we asked for assurance that these dreaded insects would not be around. We were given this assurance by our travel agent and once at the resort, the management had already taken steps to spray our villa. This was carried out on a daily basis,as was the whole resort. We had no problems whatsoever--brilliant.The whole staff were exceptional.'Jack's' restaurant, although open only two nights a week was as good as you would find in any holiday resort- Andy's singing and music a delight. The main /bar restaurant lacked a little imagination but nevertheless was more than adequate. The pools adjacent to the calm waters on the leeward side of the island were ideal.A very relaxing holiday
