“idyllic location, wonderful staff, bewar Liat airways”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

Visited May 2013. Accommodation first class - housekeeping twice a bay , food excellent, although perhaps a bit limited in Jacks. Drinks offering on the AI excellent. Ice cream and snacks from HQ lovely. Pool area and beach really nice although the beach is small (no long romantic walks along the beach) and top dressed with white sand which was showing signs of needing topping up - naturally black. The staff were "top" dollar, Special thanks to Keon and Henson at the bar - . Henson's smile could light up a room"!! The trips were great and although the one to Mustique was wonderful, the sea was incredibly choppy and a bit scary!! Do go into Kingstown - not typical pretty Caribbean town, but well worth a visit. Go for a drink at lunchtime in the rooftop bar/restaurant at the Cobblestone Inn.

Couple of negatives - at night the Bay Beach Club acts as both restaurant and bar - if you are not eating there but just want the bar facilities, you feel you are encroaching on people eating- could do with separate bar. There was no entertainment when we were there - given the remoteness of the resort, it definitely needs something.

The BIG issue - Liat airlines - absolutely appalling - no luggage either on the way there or on the way back!! Effectively, if they have a full complement of passengers, it is impossible for them to take everyone's luggage - the plane would be overweight, so major Health and Safety problem - add to this the fact that they also carry cargo - which clearly makes them more money than passengers and it is recipe for disaster. On our flight from Barbados to St Vincent, there were probably 50 passenger - only 3 cases arrived - we then spent two hours in a queue - no air conditioning - to report missing bags. They arrived early evening the next day. On the way back from St Vincent to Barbados slightly more bags arrived but still less than half. The Liat staff were pretty poor also. Make sure you take enough in your hand luggage on the way there, to last you a couple of days. To be fair BB provided toothbrush/paste etc and could not have been more apologetic-it clearly is a regular occurrence. However, I fear that unless something is done about this, not sure what - although BB say that they will be using Harlequin airlines for 2013 - clearly not happening yet - . Buccament could really suffer - I would not return for this specific reason and I am sure there will be other travellers who feel the same .

Room Tip: Wouldn't bother with sea view rooms as they are overlooked by everyone on the beach

As there was a lot of water around the hotel,we were worried that this may attract mosquitoes,so prior to booking we asked for assurance that these dreaded insects would not be around. We were given this assurance by our travel agent and once at the resort, the management had already taken steps to spray our villa. This was carried out on a daily basis,as was the whole resort. We had no problems whatsoever--brilliant.The whole staff were exceptional.'Jack's' restaurant, although open only two nights a week was as good as you would find in any holiday resort- Andy's singing and music a delight. The main /bar restaurant lacked a little imagination but nevertheless was more than adequate. The pools adjacent to the calm waters on the leeward side of the island were ideal.A very relaxing holiday

Room Tip: rooms on the opposite side to the river

Just had the best holiday ever at this resort. Met a fantastic family who we will be definitely be staying in touch with (if Mr M & G can put up with us) and not only is it a five star resort but they also employ five star people to look after you while you are there. Particular praise needs to go to Vadol and Carlson who looked after us at the pool, Lionel in da house, who kept us entertained during the day and Keon, Henson (his smile is infectious) and Brenton who were fantastic behind the Bay Beach bar. The restaraunts were brilliant and served the most delicious food served by the friendliest staff possible. Accommodation is first class and looked after twice a day, Joicey, thank you for that. One small grumble, and it is a small one, the front office could do with being a bit better at communicating changes. Apart from that Thank you Buccament Bay for a wonderful time

The best hotel I've ever been to. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent staff. Very clean. Five star all the way. The resort had a variation of food. All cuisine. The steak house was delicious. The resort offers a sun set cruise. That is a must go, sign up!!!

A must go to resort. Worth every dime.

Room Tip: All the rooms are villa. Anywhere is good

The resort came highly recommended, and i now know why. The staff provide excellence, and strive for a very hgh standard. they literally bend over backwards for you. Day 4 they couldnt provide a service for a boxing match on tv so next day they gave us complimentary spa passes worth $400 :) :)

cannot fault one bit the food was amazing difference cusines, and great selections sports activities very good if you like the tennis football etc . Swiming pools are really good but i loved swimming in the ocean to be fair but 150% stay here you wont regret.

We have just returned from a one week stay here at the fantastic Buccament Bay. The staff really are what make this resort so special. From the minute you arrive and are met with cold towels and a cocktail, to the private in room check in, the food waiting for you in your villa and so on! The grounds are immaculate and worked on constantly. Our villa was kept spotless by the fantastic housekeeping team. Villa was a great size with plunge pool and deck outside, mini bar with water and soft drinks, beers could be added on request. There was only air conditioning in the bedroom which was slightly disappointing as it meant we always had to keep the doors closed so could not just walk around the villa freely.

The pools are fantastic and the sunbeds really comfy. Again this area was kept so clean and tidy. The beach is gorgeous and the water crystal clear. You could never finish a drink by the pool or beach before another one was brought to you!
The food is spectacular here, but especially in Jacks where the steaks are just amazing! If we stayed longer than a week however I think I would have liked more options to be available, as while it is delicious, the menus do not change. Murphy's beach grill is a must for the fresh shrimp and scallops! HQ is amazing also!!

Extra special thanks go to Brod, Lionel, Vidol, Daytney, Sasheen and Brenton - these guys are truly a credit to this resort and made our stay perfect. All the little touches like how polite everyone was, how helpful and friendly, the flowers by your sun lounger, the towel art in your villa, all just fantastic!

A few tiny things which need to be improved - the partnership with LIAT to get you to and from the island really lets this place down. Almost 4hr delay going to the resort then our baggage was left in St Vincent coming home. The quicker Harlequin Air is in operation the better - if this is still the plan. The international airport has been heavily delayed also, and this would make things so much easier!

We were really disappointed that we could not do any excursions as we were there during a quiet time so they did not have the minimum 10 people to enable a trip to run. I understand there are costs involved and the hotel still need to make a profit, just would have been nice to see some of the island or get to some other islands close by. We were offered an 'outside company' to do one of the tours but this was just a taxi driver and no guide or no idea of the cost. We also wanted to go out on the glass bottom boat and 30 mins before this was going out it was also cancelled due to a technical fault.
The sunset cruise was really good and you get to see a little bit more of the island - we weren't lucky enough to see any dolphins although the one before ours saw tons of them so keep a look out!

All in all this was a perfect holiday in idyllic surroundings with outstanding staff. We very rarely go back to the same place twice but would make an exception for BB!

Stayed here from 1st June to 14 th June and got married to my wonderful wife Melanie.

The hotel is aprox 30 minutes from the airport and the complimentary shuttle is very comfortable and air conditioned. Upon arrival the greeting from all the management was incredibly welcoming with a delicious cocktail and towels. We stayed in a beach front villa that included a wonderful big tub and rainforest type shower. Comfy bed, big walk in closet for the missus and nice living area with coffee machine and well stocked minibar. The outside area had a lovely plunge pool that kept way and was great for sitting in at the end of the day as the sun went down.

The pool area was excellent with barely anyone around and legendary service from the staff. Lionel, cunliff, Vadol and others were great. they could not do enough for you by bringing drinks and anything you want and need from the excellent coffee shop called HQ

We got married here and Sharon and Gennine were amazing at organising everything and ensuring it ran as smooth as it could. The location was stunning and the meal on the beach afterwards was delicious.

We toured the island with a taxi driver called Sean it cost us 200 US dollars and was well worth it. The island is so pretty and undeveloped. The people of the island are so nice and even tried to mimic my accent. Dark view falls, Belmont and black point tunnel were highlights.

overall tHe food was excellent especially at Jacks, again the friendliness and constant genuine smiles from the staff such as Emilymake it an excellent breakfast lunch and dinner.

My only complaint probably about this brilliant hotel would be the fact the food menus did not change in out two weeks there. lxo it's not the hotels fault it the journey back was tarnished by the four and a half hour delay with LIAT. The hotel is going to struggle unless they sort out there own airline as the "new" international airport is nowhere near done

Overall buccament is a great hotel and I cannot recommend it high enough. if you want a nice beautiful quiet Caribbean wedding I would reccomend it. Will be coming back one day.

Room Tip: Beach front villa
