We were chartering a sailboat from Sunsail and wanted to stay nearby. We looked at the Beachcombers & Mariner Inn but went with Sunsail's Lagoon Hotel mainly due to proximity. Overall, it worked for us.
We were greeted warmly by the front desk person, Roslyn who was very helpful & patient with all our questions/requests.
We stayed in room # 103. It was very simple and straighforward. Two queen size beds, a small bathroom, dresser, desk, open closet and small balconey overlooking the marina.
The hotel and rooms are in need of an update which I believe the management would agree. The room was showing its age and wear. But we were not looking or expecting anything fancy so we were not disappointed. Everything worked especially the air conditioning (remote controlled wall mounted) which was most important to us. Despite its age, the room was very clean.
One bed had a very soft mattress causing some morning back aches so we switched to the other bed which was better the next (last) night.
Our only complaint was the noise on the first night (Saturday) after a very long day of travel. We were invited to the dance party which should have been a hint that it was going to be loud. We were too tired to pick up on the hint. Well, it did not take long to realize that ear plugs(which we used) would be needed and that did not eliminate it all. The party went on late, followed by an extended "last call" at the bar and then barking neighborhood dogs. So needless to say night #1 was not as restful as we needed but night #2 was 100% better.
We ate at the restaurant (Gus was our waiter) & bought drinks (or picked up mixers/ice for room happy hour) at the bar (Sam the bartender). The staff was great, food was pretty good (lunch better than breakfast) and ambiance was relaxed. I especially like sitting in the restaurant or bar overlooking the marina.
The hotel is set on a very nice piece of land with sea views, Bequia in the distance and includes 2 pools which my companion spent time enjoying. The pools are in the back away from the hotel & elevated with some trees nearby.
So all in all it really did work for us. Rating is hard because the hotel property does have faults that if you were not aware before hand, it would not be pleasant. But the staff, service and location made up for weaknesses.
