Hurricane Cove is not for everyone. We had a beautfiul 2 bedroom cottage that had the most spectacular view of St. Kitts. The living area is all covered but open. So the environment is a part of the experience. Birds fly in and out, as do the bugs at dusk. The bedrooms have closed doors and mosquito nets and we didn't have any real issues at night with bites. We did with the noisy wildlife outside which on a few nights sounded like animal warfare. The beds themselves are foam mattresses, one was hard and one was soft. The showers have very low pressure and hot water is at a premium. Someone suggested it was like camping-- it's MUCH nicer than that. But there is a feeling of being one with nature and not of luxurious accomodations. We liked the open, airy feel of it, but were also happy to get home to hot showers and a comfortable bed.

My wife and I have just returned from Hurricane Cove Bungalows in Nevis...Prior to our booking we read all the review good (and bad). We could not be more positive of a place to stay!
Arriving in Nevis, we were met by a taxi that the hotel had arranged. We had a chance to stop for groceries on the way to the property, since there is a store close to the airport. When we arrived we were met with warmth and sincerity by our hostess Kathryn Wyatt.
Just driving up the hill to the bungalows, the view was amazing. As we toured the island later, Hurricane Cove definitely has the best views. Once in our bungalow we were familiarized with the surroundings by our hostess.
Then the best part of our trip began........Privacy, peacefulness, one week of just relaxing and enjoying each other's company. Something we do not get a chance to do in our busy life as much as we want. Going out for dinner to experience the local food. Or, just staying in and having a meal with relaxation. No TV's. No radios, virtually no noise at all. What a great way to vacation. Now mind you for you enthusiastics that either want everything done for them--I think we call it being pampered or want to do a lot of partying..then this place is not for you. But you can be guaranteed one of the best vacations (as we did) that we have ever had.
We have returned home to mountains of snow...but our warm memories will last forever...Thank you Hurricane Cove and Kathryn for a great time in Nevis..
We will be back..

We recently returned from a wonderful week long stay at Hurricane Cove in Nevis. If you love a simple style, casual setting and gorgeous views, this one's for you.

A beautiful setting high above Oualie Beach overlooking both the cove and the nearby coat of St. Kitts. The spacious cabins (ours was 1 bedroom Baobab) are wood paneled and contain a fabulous porch, large bedroom, small kitchenette and bathroom with shower stall.

There was a pool for common use by several of the cabins (othes ahve their own pool). We used it regularly and only saw another guest in it during one of our seven days, so it felt like our private pool!

We could easily walk down the hill (up was another matter!) to Oualie Beach and the hotel & services located there. The Oualie Beach restaurant is very good and we enjoyed live music on Saturday evening by a local string band.

The convenience of having a kitchen allowed us to cook some meals when the mood took us. the absence of TV, radio and itnernet meant we could relax in the evening with a good book and get plenty of sleep.

A local taxi driver, Biddy Weekes, is on call for guests so there's no need to rent a car, and given the state of the roads that's good. Biddy was reliable, friendlya nd knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed his island tour one afternoon.

We woudl wholeheartedly recommend Hurrican Cove to anyone who doesn't need the luxurious pampering (and accompanying price tag) of some resorts.

Placed on a hillside overlooking the Caribbean Sea and a five minute walk from Oualie Beach Resort this resort is perfect for couples, singles, families and long stay guests and eco friendly clientelle.

We stayed in a one bedroom unit called Banana. It was clean and comfortable housekeeping cottage. The veiw from our bungalow was truly indescribable - across the channel to St. Kitts in one direction and a view of Oualie Beach in the other.

The bungalows are beautifully built and nicely furnished with lots of room. The bungalows are very unique, made from wood originating in Finland and brought over to Nevis.

Our bungalow had lots of open windows and the occassional bird stopped by for a visit on our window sill.

Banana Bungalow had a fully equipped kitchen, large bath, balcony/sitting area and bedroom. The unit had a ceiling fan and mosquito net over the bed.

Hurricane Cove is not a luxury hotel like the Four Seasons. If you want all the amenities of a luxury resort, this isn't the place to stay. If you are self sufficient and want clean, comfortable accommodations, a place to get lots of R&R, then Hurricane Cove fits the bill.

There was a steep climb of several stairs to our unit, therefore I wouldn't recommend it to disabled clients or seniors having difficulty climbing stairs.

It was hot in Nevis, but we quickly cooled off in their outdoor pool. Some bungalows have their own pool.

Next to the pool you can use their outdoor BBQ to cook dinner. They also have a store near the office where you can buy sundries.

Kathryn Wyatt, the resident Manager, was a gracious host and kindly arranged a local taxi driver, Biddy Weekes, to meet us at the ferry terminal.

Biddy is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Definitely contact him if you want a tour of the island or drive to the beach.

We had one of our best nights sleep at Hurricane Cove. We were worried it would get too hot with A/C, but with the windows open you could feel the cool tradewinds and loved listening to the crickets and tree frogs.

Hurricane Cove is a short walk to Oualie Beach Resort where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and evening entertainment.

I highly recommend Hurricane Cove and hope to enjoy a longer in the future.

This was our second stay at Hurricane Cove. The first trip was in 2002 when my husband and I stayed for 4 nights for our 20th anniversary. When it came time to plan a 50th anniversary trip for my parents I couldn't think of any nicer or more beautiful place to go. Our group consisted of my parents and three siblings and spouses. We rented Seastone (3 bedrooms) and Dove and Baobab- 1 bedroom each. It was a fabulous trip and Hurricane Cove was more beautiful than I remembered. The view from the bungalows is truly indescribable- across the channel to St. Kitts in one direction and a view of Oualie Beach in the other. The bungalows themselves are beautifully built and nicely furnished with lots of room to spread out. Each has a fully equipped kitchen which we used to cook most of our meals. We spent the majority of our time lounging around Seastone's pool and taking a dip when it started to feel too warm. There was always a breeze so we could always just move into the shade if it got too hot. We never felt the need for AC. The manager and staff were all wonderful also. Our flight was delayed coming in to Nevis and actually had to land on neighboring St. Kitts and ferry accross to Nevis several hours late, but Kathryn, the manager, had tracked our flight and had a van and driver waiting for us when we arrived at the ferry terminal. She had also notified the restaurant where we had dinner reservations that we were running late and arranged for a later seating. I've never received that kind of personal service anywhere else I've stayed. Kathryn also presented my parents with a nice bottle of champagne for their anniversary which was very much appreciated. Every member of my family was thrilled with Hurricane Cove and we are all hoping to go back before too long. If you are looking for a truly beautiful spot you will not find a nicer place.
