“Day at the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

We visited Cockelshell beach during our cruise last week. It was amazing. Our ship was the only ship in port so the beach was not crowded at all. Several people are out there renting chairs and shade. We walked around until we found the deal we liked best. It was 15.00 for two chairs, shade, and two drinks. The taxi ride was 7.00 each for each way. We did not agree to the time that our taxi driver set with other guests, so we walked up to the taxi area and found one that was leaving. Many of the drivers wait there to bring people back if you do not want to stay as long or longer than other people who are in the taxi. The roads to the beach are rough, but a beautiful drive through the island. The driver will stop at Timothy hill for great photos on the way back to the ship.

“Personal Favorite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

I've visited twice and have hopes to again and again...out of this world type of place no doubt, not perfect...just my style. The drive to the beach is worth the cost of the cruise or flight to the island; beautiful sights, let the driver know you are interested in stops and it'll be done. I first visited in 2008, next in 2011 and noticed one on the island, the roaming livestock was claimed, otherwise the same. Monkeys everywhere along with pet-able baby monkey(s) on the beach, fresh aloe massages for a fee along with 'samples' until you select your therapist; I refer you a man who refers to himself as "The Doctor". An entertaining blind wild pig takes a dip from time to time, blocking your view ;) Sure, you'll deal with a certain amount of haggling, as there isn't an admission fee - haggle back and get what you want, the locals are kind, real, funny. I'm sure there are what some would consider 'better' beaches on the island and I bet you will pay more for the sandy spot. Really wonderful - I cannot wait to return.

“Amazing views of Nevis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

This beach had amazing views of Nevis & is located nearly at the closest point between the two islands. The views are breathtaking, the water is blue and perfect, and shallow so that you can swim. There are places there to rent anything you would ever need: chairs, umbrellas, snorkel stuff, jet skiing, etc. It is definitely a drive out there, but well worth it for a gorgeous day at the beach!

“Small Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

In my opinion, this was a very small beach. They have bars on the beack for food and drinks and there is a shop where you can rent water sports equipment.
As long as the beach doesn't get too crowded, this is a great beach.
