“Exceptional Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

The Southern Cross Club is a special place. We were the only guests there who were first timers and having been there now I can understand why their guests keep coming back for more. Exceptional service, diving and food. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful. We dove, did stand up paddle boarding, went bone fishing and circumnavigated the island on scooters. It was a blast. And the price is extremely reasonable. Can't wait to go back.

Unbelievable level of service in diving, dining and accomodations with a truly personal level of engagement. You can't help but enjoy the staff. The small setting can bring with it more engagement or less depending on your interest. In addition to the staff your fellow visitors have equally interesting backgrounds and personality. Our family has been there 4 times and planning a 5th. Our fourth child was just certified to dive at 10 yrs old and this is the only operation where I felt comfortable bringing her for the open water dives. Kids can't wait till next year.

The Southern Cross Club is simply paradise. The staff is amazing. The dive instructors were friendly and courteous, and gave excellent instruction. I traveled with a friend mine who did her "discover scuba diving" resort course with Mike and I tagged along. I've been diving for years and the quality and amount of instruction she got on this one dive was amazing. I would highly recommend doing dive training here. The food and drinks here were excellent. The day we arrived one of the fishermen caught a 60 lb yellowfin tuna so that night we had fresh tuna steaks. Dinner and meals got better every day. The bartender Gabriel from Argentina makes some of the best classic cocktails I've had anywhere in the world and really is a master mixologist...on this tiny little island in the Caribbean. Everyone who works here really seems to care that you have an excellent stay. We stayed in one of the oceanfront deluxe residences and you literally wake up the the fabulous beach and ocean, then take 5 steps and you're on it. Then you can walk back and take a shower on the private balcony right outside your room. If you want nightlife and restaurants this is the wrong island for you. If you want your own little slice of paradise with truly genuine hospitality then look no further, you have found paradise. The only thing I didn't like was leaving. Thanks to everyone at SCC from Laura who picked us up at the airport and checked us in, Nickie and Sherry who took great care of us, Gabriel for making the best cocktails you can ask for, Neil for recommending said cocktails, and the rest of the friendly, professional staff for making our stay memorable. See you soon, can't wait.

"When you see the Southern Cross for the first time.." As the song says you'll understand now why you came this way! What a great place to have a relaxing vacation. The resort is small and quiet, the beach is beautiful, the staff is great, the service is perfect, the food is delicious and the diving is some of the best in the Caribbean. The resort started as a fishing camp in the 50's and that vibe carries on today. It's casual and very laid back. We started diving vacations here in 2000 and have returned every year since then. It's beginning to feel a little like a family reunion when we return - that's the way the staff treats us when we arrive and we've met several other couples and groups that return every year at the same time we do. Diving and fishing are the Southern Cross Club's specialties. There is almost always freshly caught fish for dinner sometime during the week and there are always 'fish stories' told at lunch and dinner by the fisherman at the resort. The diving is uncrowded, the dive staff is very attentive and are excellent at pointing out the things underwater that you wouldn't normally see on your own. Little Cayman is not touristy and there is not much to do other than dive, eat, relax and sleep. It's our perfect kind of vacation spot.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 through 8 are from the old fishing camp days and right on the sand close to the water. Room...

Phil T
There is no other way to describe the combination of qualities that made our trip so wonderful than to say we hit the "JACKPOT". The staff was friendly, warm, accommodating and personable. The food was excellent bordering on great at times. Locally caught seafood with imaginative presentation made dinners something to look forward to. The room was fresh, clean and well kept in addition to facing the sea for a wonderful vista. The island itself is a beautiful, quiet , peaceful getaway in which to lose yourself and relax far from the daily grind. Last but not least is the diving and the dive staff. The dive sites were fantastic. Colorful, teeming, healthy reefs on every dive came to be expected and was the norm. The dive staff was the safest we have ever had the chance to dive with. They ran a great boat and were very knowledgeable about all the sites, in particular the little animals which are so hard to spot when you are unfamiliar with a location. I can not say enough good things about our stay at Southern Cross other than we will be back. Thank you to all the staff.

We have returned here every year for the past 13 years, because quite simply they have the best diving and resort setting in the world. Always small group diving with 2 dive-masters in attendance, in a pristine marine preserve on the flats or on famous Bloody Bay Wall, with a 100% safety record. Fishing always available with fishing guide in deep sea, tarpon pond, or lagoon, rod and reel or fly. Food three times a day is always wonderful, and so are the bar and bartenders! Lots of privacy and sand between each guest unit, and always a perfect view of the lagoon and sea from each. Abundance of staff, all of whom are very nice, attentive and very helpful. Resort is VERY beautiful, peaceful and restful, not the super-busy touristy scene on Grand Cayman.

Two years ago we braved a 24 hour coach class flight to visit SCC after reading the many Tripadvisor reviews in the hope that this would meet our expectations. That trip did not disappoint us.
We have been fortunate enough to travel to many diving destinations over the past 23 years but are not repeat visitors believing that memories are unlikely to be equalled a second time around. In May this year we broke with tradition and once again visited the SCC and are glad we did as it was the equal of our first trip, if not better.
Many establishments strive to make their guests feel at home but there is something magical about the formula that makes SCC what it is. The staff is very friendly and professional, the rooms spacious and comfortable, the food and presentation excellent whilst the honesty bar and white sand between the toes just seems to make you chill. The mesmerizing wall diving is what we go for but when not in God’s domain there are the bicycles for exploring the island (great fun), kayaks for a visit to the private Owen island and of course fishing for those inclined.
If you seek a first class diving or fishing vacation without the four dreaded “Ts”; tourists, traffic, telephones and television, you are unlikely to be disappointed with SCC. We weren’t. Would we go back yet a 3rd time? Yes most certainly!
Thanks again to all those wonderful people at the SCC.
