“Southern Cross is Paradise”

Southern Cross Club

This Hotel is Paradise. We stayed for 4 days and wished we could stay longer. There are 12 units, 24 guests and 25 staff to keep you happy. The woman next door to us was a crisis minister. This was her 14th visit to the club. There are no keys to the rooms. It's like being in a large family. No one wears shoes. Dress code is more formal than a bathing suit at dinner. I spent a lot of time in a hammock. You can go for hours without seeing anyone but a Great Blue Heron. The food is excellent. The staff is wonderful. The other guests are lovely. We will go back every year. This place is perfect for privacy. It made Grand Cayman seem like Miami Beach. Debra and Seth Chwast.

We enjoyed our stay at Southern Cross Club. The secluded location, great staff and great diving made for the perfect vacation. Everyone was friendly and on a first name basis the moment we arrived. The dive crew took great care of us and we had some excellent dives. The resort itself is very quaint and the bungalows are well appointed. We loved the laid back feel of the resort. The food ranged from good to outstanding, and there was always a nice selection. Service was terrific and the staff went out of their way to accommodate you. Try to be there for the Friday night dock party, we had a lot of fun. There aren't a lot of activities on the island but you can ride bikes to hunt for iguanas, go bird watching, kayaking, snorkeling, but mostly we were happy taking it easy and enjoying a hammock and the view. One tip is that if you get a room in one of the deluxe bungalows, try to get upstairs. We loved the room but had to listen to the people stomp around above us and that was quite disturbing. This is not a good place to take children that need entertainment. If you are looking for some real relaxation or great diving, this is the place.

My wife and I just returned from Southern Cross Club and we want to go back already. The bungalow we stayed in was 2nd floor and had amazing views of the bay and Owen Island. We could see sunrises and sunsets from our balcony. The resort is beautiful and the staff is top notch. Chris (the manager) picked us up at the airport with a huge smile and our names, like he couldn't wait to meet us. The entire staff knew us by first name and were courteous, respectful and friendly. Everybody there goes out of their way to make sure that you have the time of your life. We don't scuba (yet), but did a lot of snorkeling. Chris even took us to two different locations on the island that have outstanding snorkeling. He dropped us off with a club cell phone and picked us up when we were ready to return. There is no pressure to do anything.
We actually spent Thanksgiving at the club. The feast that was prepared was fabulous, as were all of the meals. And if you miss a meal, as we did once while biking around the island, they will make you something when you return.
If you are looking for a place to dive, snorkel, or just relax and enjoy life, then Southern Cross Club is for you. We will definitely be going back again.

“::Got what I needed::”

I'm going to tell you what I got..

This was a full 5 days dive trip for the 3 of us. I'm 30, and the other are 22 and 21. We were probably the youngest people here. They thought it was going to be boring. We got nothing but FUN & RELAXATION!!!!!!

The resort just opened back up so there wasn't many people.. Which was great. Here was my list..

Property: Beautiful, LESS CROWED unlike Lil cayman Beach Resort..

Food: Hands down to the Chefs.. I'm a cook myself and the food was above average. I'm from DC and the meals were restaurant level..

Drinks: Terry made sick cocktails.. Really enjoyed it.. Expensive, but this is a vacation.. Just Chillout people..

Room: Simple, 20 steps from the water.. Peaceful. Although the maid really didn't FULLY clean our room until our last day. The toilet started to smell after the third day.. Need some work on this.

Dive Operation: FLAWLESS.. Had 5-6 divers at most.. Chis & Mike could not be anymore entertaining!!! Mike showed us where all the creatures were located.. One of the BEST diving I've had. We doved 10 times in 4 days! They were the best dive masters!!

Lil Cayman: The island is small, with only like 100 people. Not really much to do but if you plan your days right, it can be lots of fun.. Diving, Kyak to Owens island, Biking (Great!), Snorkel at Point of sand, tour the island and take pics of the giant lizard!

Problems: I would have given this place a 5 star but the only reason was that when we arrived.. We were not informed that the a couple was getting married on TV. After the 3rd day, major camera crew started coming and made lots of noises. We did not eally get our R&R but what can you do.. Sucks for us.

Beside the TV wedding program.. I loved this place.. Will be back.. This is the BEST Place on the Caymans!!!! Hands down..

“Not to Be Missed”

Arriving on one of those little planes was interesting onto the gravel runway!!!! The center of town consists of a general store, post office and a bank that is only open two days per week for only a few hours - so come prepared. The tall South African, Chirs, greated us with a big smile and open arms. He took our luggage and brought us to the most amazing place I think I have ever stayed. Pastel bungalows/duplex units, we stayed upstairs with a spectacular view. The furnishings were very Tommy Bahama-ish, complete with outdoors private shower. The only word I can use is complete relaxation from the moment you arrive. This is an all inclusive type arrangement so you need no money, no credit cards, just arrive and begin to have the best time of your life. We are not divers so there was nothing much to do but do what we came to do relax, read, swim, snorkel and eat. They have buffet for breakfast, lovely breads, pastries, omlettes and lunch had fresh salads, homemade dressing, quesadillas were great and dinner is a choice between two selections. The chef was great - Indian influence in their cooking, the chicken curry was wonderful. They have bikes, kyaks, dive lessons, and a small library to avail yourself of. Hammocks were great to relax in and the swing was fun too. Terry the bartender is very friendly and a world traveler with lots of fun stories. The staff is very helpful, friendly and accomodating. There is a small island directly across from SCC called Owens Island which you can get to via kyak or if you wish swim, we took the lazy route and they boated us out. Shells were abundant, water was the bluest I have ever seen. Came home with lots of treasures from Owen Island. So if you want quiet relaxing elegant place to stay, well SCC is for you. Their coin term for it is Barefoot Elegqance and I can't agree more. I can't wait to return. When I figure out how to post pictures, they will follow.
