We stayed at the Meridian from June 15-June 20, and our stay could not have been better! We stayed in Unit #1 on the first floor (on the right if you're facing the complex from 7MB). It was beautiful with flat screen TV's in every room, granite counters in the kitchen, and beautiful, roomy bathrooms. The satellite TV included all premium channels. High-speed internet access was located in the master bedroom. The unit included shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotions. The fluffy white towels were very luxurious and smelled so good...They were replaced each day through housekeeping. Yellow beach towels were also provided and plentiful. The kitchen was fully stocked with blender (much use this trip:)), coffee pot, all pots/pans, utensils, barware, etc. They even included dishwashing detergent (but no laundry soap for the washer).
We shopped at Foster's IGA across the street, and they had everything we could have needed...Very clean and reasonable. You can walk across the street, do all your shopping, and bring your shopping cart with you back to your condo. All you have to do is leave the shopping cart near the road, and they will retrieve it at the end of the evening...Very convenient! We had brought a few things on our own which we knew would be cheaper at home: peanut butter, granola bar snacks, travel-size laundry detergent (4 use bottles of Tide from Target), microwave popcorn, oatmeal packets, and rum (which we purchased duty-free on our stopover in Miami). We also brought along a few blow-up air mattresses (purchased for $1.50 at Wal-Mart before we left).
We were with our 2 boys (ages 5 3/4 and 9) and they loved being able to run out through the screened porch directly to the beach in less than 5 seconds. The complex had lounge chairs, tables, and shorty chairs (which were great for parking near beach entry). The beach area outside the complex was perfect with not too much of a rocky area upon entry.
There is construction going on on both sides of the complex. To the right (where unit #1 is located) is construction of a private residence...WOW! The structure is completed, but there is still work being done outside. To the left of the complex, the new Beachcomber is in the process of being built, and they have a long way to go! There is a crane there and a generator on site which can be a little noisy, but honestly it wasn't that bad! We also lucked out because we arrived on a Friday afternoon and they didn't work the weekend. Also that Monday was a holiday due to the Queen's birthday, so they didn't work then either. Tuesday and Wednesday of our stay were not that bad...You could not hear the noise at all from the inside of the unit. I'm posting pictures of latest construction as of 6/23/07.
During our 5 nights there, we ate dinner two nights at home and ate out 3 nights...twice at Edoardo's across the street...The other night we ate at Coconut Joe's. Edoardo's is absolutely amazing! We ended up eating there a total of 3 times during our Cayman stay (after our 5 nights at the Meridian, we moved to the Ritz for 3 nights). The kids loved their pizzas...but be warned you will have left-overs...This is where the condo is very convenient since you can take home left-overs and have a yummy lunch the next day!
Pat and Lee in the front office are very helpful...(Pat even helped us with a babysitter while we were there)...We would definitely consider another stay at the Meridian on our next trip to Cayman!
