It's been a few years since our last stay at CoralStone Club but admittedly things are still as well run as in the past. Didn't recognize faces or names of some of the staff but felt the same friendly welcoming atmosphere. I mentioned great value in the title because having stayed at 3 other of the properties in the same stretch of central SMB over the years, feel this offers the most for your money. I still think another property in the area offers a higher level of luxury on furnishings and overall feel but the pricing reflects that too. It's nice to have options.
Booked directly through CoralStone's website and was able to view the rooms available with updated photos. A major plus when one wants a certain look or bedding. I know many like ground floor condos but we prefer the higher floor--3rd here--and corner unit if possible(just not the ones next to Water's Edge or Ritz-- in my opinion the view is compromised slightly). We've rented unit 35 previously and were pleased to be able to do it again. Booking and payment using online/email wasn't an issue. Paid an amount upon booking then a few days prior to arrival an email came reminding that the final payment would be taken from credit card but if another card needed to be used to let them know. I appreciated the reminder email because I had changed my card number and was able to without any hassle just give the new number.
I also inquired about grocery delivery service and while Corina(office) offered to pick up a few things herself, she also gave caymanshoppers(Eddie Ebanks) as an alternative. Knowing I had a larger list, I figured I'd use the outside agency. I had never used his services but highly recommend him/it now. I was able to just forward my own shopping list via email and everything was in the condo upon arrival. Mr Ebanks also wasn't worried about collecting his money the Saturday we got in(well I'm sure at some point he'd have felt otherwise:) so I just left it at the front desk for him to pick up that Monday. His set fee is $65 for ANY amount of items. I've been charged 20% of total at one place for grocery shopping(fair to me) but also paid $150 to another company that based their fee upon number of items. He does shop at Hurley's so I'm not sure if there's a price difference compared to Foster's but I use almost the same list every time there's 4 or more of us and price was in line with past trips. I know delivered grocery shopping isn't a high priority for most but I liked that CoralStone Club had recommended a great company.
We arrived after the normal business office hours for the summer but because there was another family also coming in, Corina had stayed to greet us. I know this isn't the norm and I understand the reasoning. We would have been helped by another employee who lives on property had she not been there. Yet I repeat what I've said after staying at other places--it makes such a difference to feel that we were important enough to warrant a warm welcome. I recall having to play phone tag with management on a previous trip because the condo that we had reserved didn't have the same bedding that was shown online and we needed to be moved. The on site staff didn't have the authority to do anything other than give me her phone number. That was a letdown after having picked a certain unit a year in advance only to have to take whichever was open. (We didn't have any issues on this trip).
Pool area is very nice. Lounge chairs still aren't our favorite type along the pool area(not as comfortable laying flat on stomach--use your body weight to push them up/down). Approximately 8 lounges on each side of the pool plus 2 or 3 tables w/4 chairs. Plenty of umbrellas in that area too. The pool is an infinity pool plus has a zero entry(no steps into shallow end). Unfortunately the first few days of our trip it wasn't being run properly to get true look but by mid trip someone must have flipped the switched LOL because it was running. Kind of a pool snob as it's usually where I'm always found. Water was extremely warm. Possibly a fluke but the water cooled off a bit once the infinity pool action was running. The hottub is present but I wasn't anywhere near it! Some did venture into it so it's nice that it's available. We also liked that since our last visit the switch to run it is now located near the hottub as opposed to having to walk a distance. There are tennis courts but didn't use them or the gym either(gym is in it's own building). The grounds overall are just kept beautifully. Beach chairs(typical type which are easier to maneuver when trying to turn from one side to the other), umbrellas and small tables are plentiful. Oh and a good assortment of huts. I'm fairly certain the place was booked yet it never felt crowded because of the layout. While interior and exteriors had been updated/renovated since Ivan, because the property is older in terms of some of the others in the same stretch they are fortunate to have a wide beach compared to many of the newer properties. The entry into the ocean is also easy. It's location is great. Watersports available at Ritz next door or a couple doors over at Westin. Want to grab a drink or bite to eat, places are easily accessible on foot.
Housekeeping---every day like clockwork the condo was cleaned, towels replaced and beds made. Welcome binder was in room along with other info about things on the island to do and see. There was coffee/tea packet for usage in the condo but we hadn't used them so can't specify what type it was. Just like most other condos, anything you could want/need is in the condo from plastic cups/plates to lovely glass ones. We really liked this particular condo because the family room had a good size, comfortable sofa with a lounge seat at the end of it. Just modern enough for us with an island twist thrown in. The beds aren't the most comfortable that we've encountered. Balcony with table/chairs is screened in but the juliet balcony isn't(think that's the term--2 lounge chairs and table outside master bedroom). There is one tub in this particular unit located in one of the additional bedrooms not master. Of course each unit has a washer/dryer combo.
Worth noting that Coral Stone Club now offfers 2 bedroom pricing even though the units are 3 bedrooms. They just lock off one of the bed/baths. I think certain ones are offered in that category but well worth inquiring if that's all one needs(parties of 1-4). On the other hand if there's a special being run it may be beneficial to just rent out the full 3 bed/3 baths.
