“Great value on all levels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

It's been a few years since our last stay at CoralStone Club but admittedly things are still as well run as in the past. Didn't recognize faces or names of some of the staff but felt the same friendly welcoming atmosphere. I mentioned great value in the title because having stayed at 3 other of the properties in the same stretch of central SMB over the years, feel this offers the most for your money. I still think another property in the area offers a higher level of luxury on furnishings and overall feel but the pricing reflects that too. It's nice to have options.

Booked directly through CoralStone's website and was able to view the rooms available with updated photos. A major plus when one wants a certain look or bedding. I know many like ground floor condos but we prefer the higher floor--3rd here--and corner unit if possible(just not the ones next to Water's Edge or Ritz-- in my opinion the view is compromised slightly). We've rented unit 35 previously and were pleased to be able to do it again. Booking and payment using online/email wasn't an issue. Paid an amount upon booking then a few days prior to arrival an email came reminding that the final payment would be taken from credit card but if another card needed to be used to let them know. I appreciated the reminder email because I had changed my card number and was able to without any hassle just give the new number.

I also inquired about grocery delivery service and while Corina(office) offered to pick up a few things herself, she also gave caymanshoppers(Eddie Ebanks) as an alternative. Knowing I had a larger list, I figured I'd use the outside agency. I had never used his services but highly recommend him/it now. I was able to just forward my own shopping list via email and everything was in the condo upon arrival. Mr Ebanks also wasn't worried about collecting his money the Saturday we got in(well I'm sure at some point he'd have felt otherwise:) so I just left it at the front desk for him to pick up that Monday. His set fee is $65 for ANY amount of items. I've been charged 20% of total at one place for grocery shopping(fair to me) but also paid $150 to another company that based their fee upon number of items. He does shop at Hurley's so I'm not sure if there's a price difference compared to Foster's but I use almost the same list every time there's 4 or more of us and price was in line with past trips. I know delivered grocery shopping isn't a high priority for most but I liked that CoralStone Club had recommended a great company.

We arrived after the normal business office hours for the summer but because there was another family also coming in, Corina had stayed to greet us. I know this isn't the norm and I understand the reasoning. We would have been helped by another employee who lives on property had she not been there. Yet I repeat what I've said after staying at other places--it makes such a difference to feel that we were important enough to warrant a warm welcome. I recall having to play phone tag with management on a previous trip because the condo that we had reserved didn't have the same bedding that was shown online and we needed to be moved. The on site staff didn't have the authority to do anything other than give me her phone number. That was a letdown after having picked a certain unit a year in advance only to have to take whichever was open. (We didn't have any issues on this trip).

Pool area is very nice. Lounge chairs still aren't our favorite type along the pool area(not as comfortable laying flat on stomach--use your body weight to push them up/down). Approximately 8 lounges on each side of the pool plus 2 or 3 tables w/4 chairs. Plenty of umbrellas in that area too. The pool is an infinity pool plus has a zero entry(no steps into shallow end). Unfortunately the first few days of our trip it wasn't being run properly to get true look but by mid trip someone must have flipped the switched LOL because it was running. Kind of a pool snob as it's usually where I'm always found. Water was extremely warm. Possibly a fluke but the water cooled off a bit once the infinity pool action was running. The hottub is present but I wasn't anywhere near it! Some did venture into it so it's nice that it's available. We also liked that since our last visit the switch to run it is now located near the hottub as opposed to having to walk a distance. There are tennis courts but didn't use them or the gym either(gym is in it's own building). The grounds overall are just kept beautifully. Beach chairs(typical type which are easier to maneuver when trying to turn from one side to the other), umbrellas and small tables are plentiful. Oh and a good assortment of huts. I'm fairly certain the place was booked yet it never felt crowded because of the layout. While interior and exteriors had been updated/renovated since Ivan, because the property is older in terms of some of the others in the same stretch they are fortunate to have a wide beach compared to many of the newer properties. The entry into the ocean is also easy. It's location is great. Watersports available at Ritz next door or a couple doors over at Westin. Want to grab a drink or bite to eat, places are easily accessible on foot.

Housekeeping---every day like clockwork the condo was cleaned, towels replaced and beds made. Welcome binder was in room along with other info about things on the island to do and see. There was coffee/tea packet for usage in the condo but we hadn't used them so can't specify what type it was. Just like most other condos, anything you could want/need is in the condo from plastic cups/plates to lovely glass ones. We really liked this particular condo because the family room had a good size, comfortable sofa with a lounge seat at the end of it. Just modern enough for us with an island twist thrown in. The beds aren't the most comfortable that we've encountered. Balcony with table/chairs is screened in but the juliet balcony isn't(think that's the term--2 lounge chairs and table outside master bedroom). There is one tub in this particular unit located in one of the additional bedrooms not master. Of course each unit has a washer/dryer combo.

Worth noting that Coral Stone Club now offfers 2 bedroom pricing even though the units are 3 bedrooms. They just lock off one of the bed/baths. I think certain ones are offered in that category but well worth inquiring if that's all one needs(parties of 1-4). On the other hand if there's a special being run it may be beneficial to just rent out the full 3 bed/3 baths.

Room Tip: Wouldn't recommend end units towards Ritz or Water's Edge. Check location of units in regard...

We stayed at Coral Stone the last week of June. We were on the bottom floor which was wonderful for our kids and convenient for us. Place was beautiful, next to Ritz, rooms were gorgeous and place was immaculate! Highly recommended over the crowded Ritz and Westin. Walk to Governor's Beach and snorkel. Absolutely wonderful!

Coral Stone Club is well located on the 7 mile beach right next to the Ritz Carlton . The 3 bedroom condos are in great shape and well furnished. This small enclave has a nice large beach area compared to the crowded ( but elegant ) Ritz next door. Their website gives a true depiction of the club. We are used to a more "islandy " feel when visiting our favorite Caribbean islands , but Grand Cayman has its pluses. Quite built up, it is easy to get groceries, restaurants, and the roads are good for sight seeing. The Club caters more to families rather than singles. We will bring our family and grand children for the next visit because everything was so convenient, but for just the 2 of us , it will be back to St. John for that Island-fee.

This was recommended by friends who have stayed here. We loved the CSC for its great location, wonderful views, and the relative privacy compared to surrounding resorts/hotels. The staff were very appropriate and anticipated to our needs. Maureen, our housekeeper was most helpful. Valerie, the manager, helped us with reservations when we could not make them ourselves. The pool and beach never felt crowded even though we traveled during the Easter season. The grocery and liquor stores and nearby restaurants were very convenient as well. Once, we wandered over to the beautiful Ritz next door for lunch, and enjoyed the meals and drinks, but were so happy to return to our little slice of paradise.

Our families took a private Eco boat tour with John MIchael Stafford to Stingray City, Rum Point and snorkeling. This was a highlight of our trip. Two of us dove with Ambassador Divers on the reef and Kittiwake wreck. Once again, we loved the smaller boat and the ability to tailor the dive trip to our particular desires.

The rooms were really nice. When combined with service, beauty, location and amenities, I cannot imagine needing/wanting to stay elsewhere in Grand Cayman.

Our family booked a unit at Coral Stone Condos March 19th through March 26th. I booked our unit online and exchaged several emails with Corina & Valerie, who are wonderful! We arrived to a stocked condo with food and beverages, thanks to Eddie Ebanks, who owns Cayman Shoppers.
Although check-in was not until 4pm, our condo was perfect and ready when we arrived at 1:30pm, so that we could begin our vacation. Our family consists of myself, my husband, mother 'n law and two kids -- 12yrs & 10yrs. This is an excellent property for families with children. As a matter of fact, the majority of guests had children that ranged in ages, infants to tweens.
Corina & Valerie manage the CS property and are an absolute pleasure. We stayed at the property for seven days and never had any issues or any unpleasant experiences. As a matter of fact, both Valerie and Corina went out of their way to assist us in printing out our boarding passes before our departure. And, they always had a smile on their face.

Coral Stone is located along 7 Mile Beach (a.k.a. SMB). The property has a convenient location along West Bay Rd.
You are able to walk up the street about two blocks to two liquor stores, Fosters supermarket, and quite a few resturants. Coral Stone is also located right next to the Ritz Carlton hotel. We enjoyed sitting on Coral Stone's very wide and less crowded beach and pool, while glancing over at the Ritz's very crowded beach and having a chuckle.
We did take a walk over to the Ritz's beach bar based on a few reviews by other reviews and found it to be a bit stuffy, pricey and the staff seemed snobby.
The property was kept and manicure daily, the pool was cleaned and maintained on a daily basis and houskeeping service was amazing. "Our beach" was never crowded even during full occupancy, and the pool was full of great kids and very friendly families.

Security was a constant presence at the pool and beach area, even during the hottest days. A few days, we offered cold water to the guards, as they were doing us a favor. Actually, one morning at 3am I was unable to sleep and found a security guard walking the pool area.
Despite recent reviews regarding inappropriate comments made. We had no such experience and traveled with our daughter who although is 12yrs old, she is 5'7" and looks much older.

Things to do .......
Walk up to the Beach Suites, formerly the Hyatt Regency and have fun with Red Sail sports -- banana boat rides, kayaking, etc
Have lunch there as well, enjoy a cold beer or fruity drink at the Seven Mile Beach Bar -- Wil & Brad are the best!

Book a private tour with Ebanks Watersports -- We booked the 5 hour tour to Stingray City, snorkel spots and lunch at Kaibo, located at Rum Point. Captain Renel and first mate, Lindy showed us a great time.
Shawn Ebanks will pick you up right at the condo and drop you off afterwards.

Enjoy dinner a delicious dinner at Deckers - Try to eat outside.
Tues night is all you can eat lobster (as well as many other great dishes) & Thurs night you can enjoy the local talent of Hi-Tide.

Eduoardos is an italian resturant that does not look like much from the outside, but what a fantastic meal and beautiful decor inside.

Thanks again to Corina, Valerie and owners of Unit 12 for a fantastic Spring Break on Grand Cayman!

The property was kept and manicure daily, the pool was cleaned and maintained on a daily basis, houskeeping was amazing and the beach was never crowded. There was also security on a daily basis for the guest pool area and beach.

Room Tip: Bottom floor units are best for young children.

Nice facilities. Clean, well appointed. Perfect location. Great for folks without children. However, we had a very bad experience with a security guard who made very inappropriate comments to my 19 year old daughter. When we complained we got nothing but a lame apology for a ruined vacation. Don't bring children or daughters to this cono.
