Mario was right on time at the cruise dock and as he was frantically trying to get everyone gathered round, I realized how this part can be stressful for tour organizers. A few people from our ship didn't show up after 15 minutes so we had to leave. Apparently they called in approximately 45 minutes after the meeting time and were quite angry. It was very easy to disembark on time in Grand Cayman as we were there at least 10 minutes early. But tour guides do need to get us back in time for the cruise ship departure, so it's a balancing act, really, and we feel Mario reacted perfectly.
And then on to Captain Mario's boat, a very nice-looking ship that brought us to a cool snorkelling spot. Lots of fish, a moray eel and great visibility. Then onwards to starfish point, which was much better than I first thought. It's quiet, peaceful and the beach area is absolutely superb. Finally, we arrived at Stingray City as all the overcrowded boats were leaving. Fantastic timing! Swimming with the rays will always be remembered as one of the coolest things we've ever done and the kids absolutely loved it. We all felt very safe and never felt we were disturbing these wonderful animals.
