“Great stay!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2014

We had a wonderful family trip in March 2014. The staff were accommodating and moved our room when we needed a slightly different set up. The pools are incredible and the beach is outstanding - and not too close to the over crowded Ritz or Marriott. The beach side restaurant /pool bar is fine and has great drinks and good lunch food. Outstanding gym. Only change I would make is the price generally of eating out in the Caymans. I would definitely go back!!

Room Tip: Room 8201 has a great view and is technically water view not waterfront and therefore much less...

We recently stayed in the Beach Suites with a 7 yr old boy and 3 yr old girl for 7 days in an ocean view suite (one bedroom and living with pull out couch). The room itself had a fridge, microwave, and k-cup coffee maker. Huge tub and shower. Plenty of towels and robes. Safe. It was very clean with fairly typical hotel furnishings. Very good climate control. Small balcony you can't really sit on, but we weren't in the room very much so didn't matter. Kids were very comfortable, room kid friendly. The staff was very friendly (especially door men). Maybe the pool towel people were a little surly. The restaurant was excellent and similar in price to good restaurants elsewhere near the hotel. Try the Sticky Toffee Pudding - super yummy!! The pool was great. Ocean is stunning. The desk staff were extremely helpful and guided us to Captain Marvin's for the stingray snorkeling tour and I highly recommend them. Our snorkeling trip was awesome. I would definitely stay here again and recommend.

We just returned from our honeymoon, and I can't say enough AMAZING things about Grand Cayman Beach Suites, and their staff. We arranged our wedding ceremony there with Marina, an amazing person, and professional. She tended to every detail perfectly, and made sure we had everything we needed, and more! She was beyond wonderful. When I stated searching resorts for our wedding, I had the mind set that no matter which one I used, the scenery would make it beautiful. It did, but there was so much more than that. Our wedding day was perfect thanks to this wonderful facility and their caring staff. I cannot wait to receive the rest of our photos from such a wonderful day! Thanks GCBS and the lovely Marina!

This was our second stay at GCBS. It is a fantastic facility, a great location, has a great beach, has excellent and well appointed rooms and the staff are friendly and helpful. It is an easy walking distance to many superb restaurants and a quick walk to Fosters grocery store.

This hotel was previously the Hyatt. Accommodations are fine (especially suites with ocean view). A great sight after a long Chicago winter. Problem is noise. The front bedroom is next to the street so you hear car noise, as well as there is a restaurant across the street that plays live music that you can hear. They also are building a high new condo complex, which people on that side of the resort complained about the noise.

Service was not strong. Staff were not helpful and friendly. It seemed to be an inconvenience to ask them questions and they unfortunately gave incorrect information.

The actual hotel has good amenities, though the pools are small. The pictures online make them look bigger than they are. So they have all the amenities, including a red sails sports on site, but everything is on a smaller scale. The spa was very personal, and the people were great.

Restaurant selection on Grand Caymen around 7 mile beach was limited. Felt like the area was coming back with new development underway. Canama Bay had some selections and Luca's is great but rest were high priced for what you get. One option though is Deckers on Tues and Sat, all the lobster you can eat.

I would recommend the Catamaran trips by Red Sails. We took the early morning one which took you out to Sting Ray City before the crowds, then on to snorkel the reef. Also Atlantis submarine was a great experience.

We also visited the Cayman distilleries. Good rum, interesting tour. The owner and staff are very friendly and love to enjoy people interested to learn more about rum.

Hopefully you will find this helpful.

My husband and I spent a week this February 13-19 at the GCBS; this was the second time we have stayed there and our 6th trip to Grand Cayman. Once again, we were very pleased with the accommodations and service provided by the staff. We asked for the same suite that we had last year and they honored the request. If you can afford to take a suite with a full balcony, it is really worth the extra price. On the second day of our stay, we walked the short distance to Foster's supermarket and bought breakfast and lunch items. Having the full balcony provided a great spot for those two meals each day; a beautiful view and relaxing spot. Our balcony had a table, 4 chairs, and 2 lounges so it was a wonderful addition to the suite. Make sure you have dinner one night at Hemingways (right on the property) as ask for a table outside where you will have a lovely sunset view. The only thing I would change about the GCBS is to have the pools heated; they can be chilly. But there is a beautiful beach with plenty of beach lounges (with comfortable padding and sun visors) and the Caribbean waters are the very best. All of the suites face West so the sunsets are gorgeous. We have stayed at a number of hotels on 7 Mile Beach, and we really love the GCBS the best. You can walk to many great restaurants for dinner, there is a liquor store and a bank right across the street, and you can also walk to a number of nice shops. All in all, a perfect vacation.

Room Tip: We loved room 8204!

Stayed March 1-8. Had a great week, first time to Grand Cayman, traveled with brother and sister-in-law. Tricia (I hope I have her name correct!) knew from our reservation that we were celebrating a 60th birthday and offered us a complimentary room upgrade to an ocean front 2br suite. What a treat that was! Our room was awesome and the sunset views were fabulous. All employees at GCBS that we encountered were helpful, friendly and gracious - from the lovely ladies who took care of our room to the staff at Hemingways (don't miss their Sunday brunch), Side Bar, Pool Bar, towel attendants as well as the helpful front desk staff and door men.
Loved the comfy beach chairs and never a problem finding one which was a welcome change from other places we've stayed. Ice water, coffee and fresh fruit in the lobby was a nice treat too.
This hotel is in a great location, several restaurants, grocery and liquor store within walking distance.
