“Best place to stay on Seven Mile Beach - by far!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

I won't repeat what other reviewers have stated as I agree with them: great beach, shady areas, super condos, close to grocery store, clean, up-to-date amenities, daily maid service (except Sundays), very professional staff, etc. What people haven't said that you need to know is this: the beach is NOT at all crowded. You see, many of the smaller places folded and sold after Hurricane Ivan in 2004. These places were bought, razed, and in their place huge, multi-story hotels were built. The hotels are much too big for the amount of beach space available for all the people that stay there. When you walk by these places you see people side by side in chaise loungers with no space between them. We heard from those who have stayed at these places that people will get up early in the morning to claim a section of beachfront "property." At The Islands Club, however, this did not happen. They survived Hurricane Ivan with minimal damage. There is plenty of beach for everyone - no need to claim beachfront space. We use the beach to play football, have appetizers and drinks at the beachfront, sunbathe, read in the shade, and then we stroll to the condo for a drink, snack, or have a meal. It's so easy. You also need to know that the water/beach area is very accessible meaning that the beach has a gradual decline so that younger kids can easily play in the shallow water. And the beach is all sand (a few pieces of coral every now and then)! I also want to add that there is no pool and that is completely fine. Never once did we wish there was a pool. I wouldn't base your decision to stay or not to stay here because there is no pool. The ocean is warm, inviting and refreshing.
The bottom line is that The Islands Club is truly the best place to stay in on Seven Mile Beach.

What a wonderful vacation. We stayed in Unit 10 and it was just gorgeous and perfect. The accommodations were perfect. We especially loved the beds which were so comfortable. The service was impeccable and everything was within walking distance. we rented a car but really did not need to. Groceries, shopping and many restaurants including Camana Bay were all within walking distance. We came back to 2 feet of snow. We cannot wait to go back. It really was pure heaven.

Room Tip: Who goes to the Caribbean to use a pool?

Just the perfect place if you enjoy peace and quiet. We stayed for ten days in January after new years and rarely shared the lovely shady beach with more than one or two other people. We had a car for a few days, but we were fine without it the rest of the time. Our unit was 24 and it had everything we wanted and more. Great beds, comfortable furniture, towels galore...super great staff. The bottle of wine and rum cake was a very nice welcome gift from the office. We had movies and books and boardgames at the condo. The beach was raked each day and the water entry was easy with almost no coral rocks, just lovely sand. Swam with a turtle and saw a stingray catch her breakfast just in front of the condo about 30 yards out. Saw dive boats leave just two doors down every morning. The upper units had great views I am sure but we loved being on the ground floor. Time passed very slowly in the best way possible.

We stayed here again at the Islands Club in July. We booked a ground floor unit #2 with two bedrooms. Accommodations were excellent and location was beautiful. The beach and water were exceptional as always. Plenty of shade wit trees on Beach. Great property management.

We stayed at the Islands Club for 9 days in the first half of December '12 and really enjoyed it. It is walking distance to Foster's, several liquor stores (beer, wine, & spirits, as they're called here), and many restaurants. The cruise ferry terminal area in George Town is about 2.3 miles south, and walkable (sidewalks most of the way) if you're up for it. You can take the sidewalk the whole way, or take the beach for a mile or so before you have to cut inland to West Bay road. We walked it one afternoon and had drinks at a few spots along the way, then took a taxi back. You can go to caymangoodtaste.com to get a map of the restaurant, bars, and properties in the area surrounding the Islands Club.

The pictures of the units are exactly like shown on their website. Our unit was well appointed and equipped with everything we needed. We used the washer and dryer once which was very convenient. The refrigerator included an ice maker and filtered water dispenser and got a lot of use while we were there.

There is a tennis court and a fitness center with a small set of equipment. In the fitness center, there is a treadmill, elliptical, and bicycling machines, as well as a universal-type weight machine (cable and pully, needs some oiling). There is also a couple of benches, a bar with small amount of weights, 3 or 4 pairs of dumbbells, a couple of inflatable exercise balls, and a ping pong table. There is a TV and boom box for entertainment while you're working out.

They beach in front of the Islands Club was, in our opinion, the best in south and central SMB. We walked as far north as Calico Jack's, so we can't judge anything north of there. The beach is wide and sandy, and the entry to the water is also sandy. Other areas north and south of there seemed to have a few or more rocks on entry, but I guess that can change over the year depending on weather patterns. Our beach was not crowded at all. We felt almost like we were the only ones on the beach. There are Casuarina trees midpoint between the condos and the water, you can sit behind or in front of them if you want sun, or under them if you don't.

Everyone working at the condo (office, maid, maintenance) seemed happy and were extremely friendly. At check-in, we received a packet of information about the islands, tours, restaurant guide, map, and a bottle of wine. It was a nice touch.

If we had to do it all over, we would choose Islands Club again.

My husband and I have been vacationing in the Cayman Islands for about 12 years. We have stayed at various smaller locations and lost them to larger condos/hotels. In November of 2011 we boooked our first week long holiday at the Islands Club.. That is our only choice now. Service is exemplary, the beach is beautiful and private, no crowds and lines of beach chairs to deal with
Robert and his staff have an incredible sense of pride and it shows through! We already have our reservation for 2013
