The Good: 1) The beach in front of the CCC's is one of the best stretches on Seven Mile Beach. It is located at the quieter, northern end of the beach away from the large hotels but also away from the conveniences too (stores, restaurants). This was good for us but may not be for some. Managment goes to great lengths to maintain the high quality of the beach in front of their property. They rake daily and had a man tilling the sand to keep it soft and to remove debris. Shade is plentiful but some guests were territorial leaving towels, etc. to reserve vacant beach chairs for long periods. Seemingly some snuck out under the cover of darkness to secure the choice locations. The best water (least rocks in the sand) for swimming is to the left of the property's beach if you are facing the sea with your back to the condos. The best snorkeling is to the extreme right. Swim a direct line out from the large, private home to the north of the CCC's for the best snorkeling. Snorkeling was OK but not great (USVI better in my opinion with more variety of fish and coral). Cemetary Reef, a 10 minute beach walk to the north, is worth the effort. 2) The staff always was helpful and friendly. 3) The condo unit was very clean and well appointed.
The Not So Good: Road Noise. Within the condo road noise still was loud. The road along 7MB is very busy. To be fair, road noise likely is a problem at most 7MB properties as they are sandwiched between the road and the beach.
Some Advice: 1) Make certain to reserve an ocean view room. The units on the first floor offer the most convenient access to the beach but sacrifice some ocean view compared to the units on higher levels. Even the ocean view units on the higher levels are preferable to the garden view rooms and well worth the extra money. 2) The buses that run along 7MB are a good alternative to the expensive taxis if you don't rent a car. They run frequently and cost C$2 per person for one stop (as near or as far as you'd like). 3) The Calypso Grill is a nice location for dinner. All restaurants on the island are overpriced for the quality of what you get (we live in NYC to offer some perspective). The location of the Calypso Grill is worth it for the experience. 4) If you are traveling with a child in a car seat be aware that some taxis don't have seatbelts. Make sure to request one specifically.
If you are planning a vacation to Grand Cayman then the Christopher Columbus Condos are a good choice.
