I stayed at Plantana for the second time in December of 2003. Although Plantana gets five stars for location, unfortunately it gets just three for everything else. The complex sits on a gorgeous and expansive stretch of beach, away from the crowds. Most recently, my husband and I rented the one bedroom penthouse, in part because this unit has a large deck from which to take in the incredible views.

However, the deck was overgrown with foliage, which actually obstructed the view. We spent some time initially moving the large plants and trees, which were in heavy terracotta pots, so that we could see the ocean. We also threw away an open bag of potting soil crawling with bugs, cleaned the table and chairs using bleach, and sprayed the deck with Raid. Although we didn't expect to be performing manual labor on our vacation, we did enjoy sunset cocktails on our deck every night.

The condo itself has a view from every window. The bedroom was large and comfortable and the kitchen was invaluable. Overall, however, Plantana is getting a little run down. The furniture seems old and the kitchen outdated. You can't beat the location and the views, but the property needs some sprucing up (which we did notice a lot of the other units were in the process of doing).

I have stayed at one other location but went back to the Plantana and will continue to go there. We go every year. Next year we will have a wedding there. You can't beat place where the beach is only steps away from your condo. Sitting on the beach and watching the sun set every night is wonderful.

Plantana is the coolest place i have ever stayed...great view, awesome location, and just a place to kick back and relax...

The condos are 2 BR, 2 BATH (some 1 BR & BATH) living area, kitchen, dining room, and washer/dryer...Pool and ocean are steps from the door...Request ground floor for easy access to the beach as 2nd and 3rd floors are harder to get to (You have to go around back to get to them)...FUN place to be...Would highly reccomend taking breakfast and lunch food as prices are very high at Fosters (grocery store) and at resturaunts...

We just returned from a 5 night stay at Plantana condo's on Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman and it was great, what a location!! The four of us, my husband and I and our two teen sons rented an Oceanfront "A"condo, lower floor, Plantana #10. We had a wonderful view of the beach and only steps away from that gorgeous ocean and white sand!! We would not hesitate to stay at Plantana again on a return trip. I used Cayman Vacations for booking our 2 bedroom 2 bath condo and everything went smooth. The condo was clean and well kept, we had maid service daily except for Sundays. It was nicely decorated, one King bed in our bedroom and two doubles in the second bedroom. It's not what I would call luxury accommodations but very nice and worth every penny.
Location, location, loacation!! The beach in front of Plantana is one of the best on Seven Mile Beach. We had wonderful weather, it rained for about 10 minutes one day and that was it. The boys rented waverunners at the Westin and had a blast. It is the prettiest water we have ever seen, even nicer than Hawaii. I highly recommend Plantana to anyone vacationing to Grand Cayman.
