“Casa Caribe- Cayman Islands- Seven Mile Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

WONDERFUL place to stay!! HIGHLY recommend!! Staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Resort was very quiet and peaceful. Beach has plenty of open space and was not crowded, unlike other resorts on the beach. Plenty of chairs, umbrellas and trees to lay under for those that want shade. Condo was immaculate, spacious, and had great amenities. Several restaurants and a grocery store nearby. Snorkeling was GREAT (go off to side though- less fish directly in front of resort and then go 100-200 yard off shore (where the marker is). Very natural and beautiful. Nice gym, pool, etc as well. Be sure to travel to stingray city and dolphin cove while there! i would also recommend a boat tour (i wish i had done this and read about them later- they were more affordable than i thought). The brochures and magazines in resort lobby have GREAT suggestions on things to do and places to go. BUses were easy to use and fairly cheap compared to renting a car. Be sure to go to cemetery beach for a picnic and snorkeling too!

Room Tip: Beach view!!

We stayed in April 2013 for 1 week with two small children and could not have been happier.
Positives:
1) Staff- Neal and Effie are great, will help with any logistical issues, and go out of their way to help you have a great stay
2) Location- Beautiful section of beach with amazing sand and calm water. Plenty of shade trees and umbrellas. You can walk across the street to the grocery store. There are many good restaurants within walking distance.
3) Privacy- This is probably the BEST thing about Casa Caribe. There is a huge amount of beach for the number of units. We walked all of seven mile beach, and if you are looking for a relaxing place without massive crowds this is the place to stay. Our stay was quiet and peaceful. These are condos, so there is no onsite restaurant/bar, but it takes 1 minute (at most) to walk back to your unit and get whatever you need.
4) Value- Honestly, looking at all the other properties on seven mile beach, Casa Caribe is probably undervalued for what you get
5) Rooms- Very nice. We stayed in one of the "smallest" which was over 1600 sq ft. We also looked at several other units which were unoccupied at the time. They are all very well equipped, and all have washers and dryers. All of the units have excellent views ( they are almost all oceanfront). Porches are screened

Negatives-
Really nothing. If one was super picky you could say that some units are slightly dated, but that is it.

Summary-
Will absolutely stay here again. Location is perfect ( you don't need to rent a car), gorcery store across the street. Beach is excellent, and not crowded, with plenty of shade trees and umbrellas. Units are huge, well appointed, and with outstanding views. For the money I think it is the best place to stay on seven mile beach.

Room Tip: There are NO bad rooms!! First floor units open directly onto beach

We were fortunate to hit a quiet week between the snow birds and the summer crowd. We came May 19-26. There was no competition for chairs or shade and no lines in the restaurants. Seven Mile Beach is definitely the place to be- Georgetown is not much and the stores close at night. Casa Caribe is immaculate and had a lovely clean beach. There are hardly any rocks in water unless you go out further or to either side. The snorkeling is very good further out- you don't have to go anywhere else, although Cemetery Beach is nice. Neal and Effie take great care of their guests and the maids are fabulous. The best part of Casa Caribe is the shade trees. There are huge cedar trees and my favorite - the Sea Grape Tree. I spent all week under it's protective branches. We stayed in unit 12 with 3 bedrooms & 3 bedrooms. It was spacious and beautifully furnished. There is a grocery store & shopping across the street. The buses are vans and you just wave them down - there are no bus stops. If you walk down the street they will find you. The restaurants are expensive but you can find some good values if you look. Eats is very reasonable. Two thumbs up for Casa Caribe and Seven Mile beach.

You can't ask for more in a beach vacation! Casa Caribe has it all... well appointed, large, spotlessly clean rooms, washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchens, screened-in huge patio, pool, hot tub, beautiful uncrowded beach in a perfect location on Seven Mile Beach, and convenient to food shopping and restaurants. The staff - Effie, Mgr., Neal, Resrvations, through to Housekeeping and Mantenance, go way beyond your imagination to make you feel like family, not just guests! Unit #3 has become our home away from home for the third year (on ground level, just a few steps onto the beach). My husband and I cannot praise Case Caribe enough... don't miss an opportunity to stay here - you will not be sorry!!

Room Tip: Ground Level units go straight onto the beach. There's a convenient elevator to the upper two s...

Unit 18 has 3 large bedrooms and 3 full baths. And a full size kitchen like at home. All air-conditioned, of course.
But the amazing feature that this unit has is the rarely found daylight on all four sides. And a grand-size screened in porch that gives a perfect view of the glorious sunsets. The Casa Caribe does have a pool, and an elevator.
It is so modern and well-equipped, with free Wi-Fi, MagicJack and Huge TV's with cable. We watched all of the basketball tournaments, and stateside networks. The Casa Caribe is waterfront with a 300 foot beach you dream about. Pure white powder-soft sand. Across the street is a super market like at home, deli, bakery and all. We treated ourselves with 2 weeks of paradise.

Room Tip: Unit 18 is by far the best for sunsets and lots of daylight. Quiet also.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

We last visited Casa Caribe in 1998. Not much has changed since then. And, that's probably why we rate this a 4-star instead of 5-star property.

We stayed in Unit 4, which is a 3-bedroom, two bath unit located on the first floor next to the center walkway of the property. While the unit was tastefully decorated, it hasn't been updated in a while. It's just a little aged around the edges.

The unit is well-stocked with books, board games and puzzles. In fact, some of our best times during this vacation were during cloudy days putting together puzzles on the screened-in porch. There were also inflatables, a couple of snorkel masks, and a set of fins.

One of the best aspects of Casa Caribe is that it is located in the heart of Seven Mile Beach. One of the worst aspects of Casa Caribe is also that it is located in the heart of Seven Mile Beach. We travelled at the height of Spring Break and the beach was very busy with walkers, particularly on the overcast days when the sea was heavy and cruise ships were in port. They weren't stopping on our part of the beach, but traffic was heavy. Similarly, traffic on Seven Mile Beach Road is heavy, but you are located within walking distance of several good restaurants. You could probably stay here all week and have no need of renting a car.

Nevertheless, Casa Caribe is an oasis compared to the Ritz Carlton or Cayman Beach Suites, which are a couple of doors down on either side of the beach. Those places are covered with beach chairs, people and jet skis. This is not to say that Casa Caribe is perfect. There are a limited number of beach umbrellas, and you need to claim your spot pretty early in the morning or get stuck in the sun.

Also, in our case, a large group of Spring Breaking college students staying at the complex decided that they would lounge directly in front of our unit. This resulted in a lot of drinking, cussing and trash on the beach.

In comparison, we stayed at Christopher Columbus for Spring Break last year. It's just more quiet at the North End of Seven Mile Beach. But, you need a car to get to restaurants. And, the water in front of Christopher Columbus has more coral and is not as good for swimming. For us, it would be a close call on whether to choose Christopher Columbus or Casa Caribe. Without the college kids, we probably would return.

We are just completing a week at Casa Caribe. We have a beautful beach front unit. The location is excellent (just below the Ritz) and the beach is NOT CROWDED. This is an important thing to note. The beach in front of the big hotels or really large condo buildings is wall to wall with chairs and people. Not so with a small condo building like Casa Caribe. There are maybe 4 or 5 other families on the beach here at any one time. The facilities are excellent. Our condo is spacious (3 BDRM, 3 Bath) and well maintained. It is beautifully furnished. The pool is great and very clean. Ditto for the hot tub. Staff here is also wonderfu. Neal made a whole host of reservations for us at restaurants, for diving, etc. We arrived very late on a Saturday night and Neville, the night manager, actually drove me across the street to the supermarket because they were about to close and would not be open the next day (Sunday). I managed to get critical supplies in the 15 minutes they were still open. Can't ask for better service than that! We will most certainly be back to Casa Caribe.

Room Tip: Corner condos are great if you can get one. Definitely go for a beach front unit.
