The pace is in a very convenient location, that was the best thing. A very short distance from 7 Mile Beach, I'd say about 100 feet. The pool was great. They had a variety of watersports and activities such as Scuba Diving, Trip to Stingray City, Water Aerobics, Iguana Feeding, and Poolside Bingo. I had visited just after a hurricane, the main office and bar were both damaged. They had to use a condo for their office, which wasn't terrible. They had still been working on the damage from the hurricane, they were using the tennis courts for construction equipment storage, so the courts were off limits. Even if the bar was open, I wouldn't really call the place a club. It was more of a motel style resort. I think I would check out other condos or hotels before making reservations for this place, but it wasn't that bad.

Resort is like new. Short walk to beach is not a problem here-just down the path. With 7 Mile Sports on site and Don Fosters (used mostly) across the street you have your choice of dive locations any day you choose. Everyone is very accomodating. If you are a seasoned Time share owner you will not be surprised at the island surcharge for electricity. Be ready to give the Cayman Island government their due. This has nothing to do with 7 Mile. Coconut Joes across the street is good, but found Aqua Beach just down the road better for quality of food and entertainment. The Luau at Stingers next door is not worth the $24.95. The Royal Palms was excellent but pricey. Good entertainment also. Snorkel the Cemetary Beach - but go out to the farthest reef to get the incredible sights. Overall a great vacation -diving-snorkeling and relaxing. 7 Mile Beach Resort was a pleasant surprise given it was rated a 2.5 - 3 star.

My husband and I (late 20s/early 30s) spent December 8-15, 2007 at SMB Resort and Club. We traded a time share week through Interval International for our stay.

There are many pros to SMB resort, however, when they titled the name of this rental property they should have stopped before resort and club. SMB resort is really a condo about 1,000 square feet per unit, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, fantastic screened deck with super comfortable furniture I can't stop thinking about. It is comfortable and met all our needs. We had to find all our own activity, however. At several points I wondered if anyone else worked there except the manager behind the desk. There are no daily activities for adults and at night it is dead quiet. I don't know what would have happened if I needed anything (especially after 7 p.m.).

The location was fantastic. Rent a car and travel around the island - paid $200 US for the week with Thrifty at the airport. Coconut Joe's across the street has delicious food, however like everything on the island it is EXPENSIVE. We used our full kitchen at SMB to cook many of our meals. We paid $47 US for a case of Corona and over $50 each time we ate out including lunch.

We did 2 SCUBA dives with Don Fosters (across the street at Comfort Inn - $250 US for 2 tank dive for two people including BCD rental, etc.) and was amazed with Big Tunnel and disappointed with Fish Reef. The shop was very friendly and safe. Cemetary Beach snorkeling was truly like putting your face in a fully stocked aquarium.

Avoid Georgetown when multiple cruise ships are in and definetly check out Stingray City with Sotos. We drove all around the island in our rental car and ended up at Rum Point one day. This is one of the most beautiful parts of Grand Cayman. It is quiet and relaxing and the beach is beautiful. They do not allow you to bring food onto the beach so we packed a lunch and ate in our car. We did end up spending $20 on 2 drinks that were so-so. The scenery made up for it.

Of all the Carribean islands we've visited, this was by far the cleanest, safest and most American-ized. You will not find impoverished towns around your resort. It is all well kept up and mostly repaired from Hurrican Ivan. I would visit again. Enjoy your stay!

“Good location, comfortable condo, lacking resort amenities”

7 Mile Beach Resort and Club

We trade our Interval International timeshare every year for a Caribbean location. This year we traded for a 2-bedroom at the 7-Mile Beach Resort from March 3rd - March 10th and took another couple with us. We are all in our 30s and were not disappointed by Grand Cayman or the 7-Mile Beach Resort.

We had a great time. Condo was large, clean and fully equiped. The front desk staff was helpful and quick to answer our requests. We bought breakfast items at the grocery store, had our coffee and breakfast on the screened in porch over looking the pool and went out for lunch and dinner every night. Incredible restaurants on Grand Cayman, especially The Reef and Deckers. Yum! Do not miss these restaraunts. We ate Waahoo! every night!

Avoid the restaraunt at the Westin. (I think it was called Hemmingway's?) They made us wait a 1/2 hour for a table at 9pm, even though we saw multiple tables open. After a 1/2 hour, they asked us what our room # was at the Westin and we told them we were not guests there. 5 minutes later the hostess informs us that she cannot seat us because we were underdressed. We looked around and saw we were wearing the same type of resort wear the other guests at the restaraunt were wearing! I feel we were discriminated against because we were not Westin guests, which doesn't make sense because the Westin Restaraunt is open to the public - not just Westin guests. This really aggravated us!

Snorkeling was fantastic at Cemetary Beach. Stingray City is a do not miss. We booked our excursions through the activity desk at 7-Mile Beach Resort. (Wish we booked outside the resort just for Stingray City because we found out later that another company provided jet-ski tours to Stingray City. ) Took a sunset rum cruise on the Jolly Roger - great time! We rented a car one day and scooters another couple days to get around and go shopping in Georgetown. Very fun! Other days, we just took the local buses to get from point A to point B.

Coconut Joe's across from the resort is a nice place for a quick bite. Unfortunately, 7-Mile Beach Resort does not have an on-site restaraunt or bar. It was destroyed during Hurricane Ivan and hasn't been restored yet. So we had to go elsewhere.

It's about a block walk to 7-Mile Beach. We went for walks along the beach every night before dinner. Wonderful beach to lay out on in the daytime and catch sunsets at night. Great location, great resort overall! Hopefully, they'll rebuilt the bar/snack bar soon.

We would definitely go back!

“Absolutely Fabulous!”

The 7 Mile Beach Resort was absolutely fabulous! We traded our time share to stay at this resort. The staff at this resort was fantastic and went above & beyond the call of duty. Miriam in the office was kind enough to make restaurant reservations at the Grand Old House for us and also confirmed our Pirate Cruise aboard the Jolly Roger. She was incredibly helpful. Captain Andy, Mick & Vangie made our trip to Stingray City wonderful. Andy let my son help drive the boat and Mick dubbed my son "Captain ZigZag" due to his knack of steering (or lack there of). Every employee of the resort that we came in contact with was extremely nice and helpful. We loved being able to check out movies in the office. The pool was a bit cold for me, but my husband & son enjoyed it immensely. The hot tub was great. The beach was a short walk away and a bit small, but very nice. The rooms were incredible! All new appliances in the kitchen, the two bedrooms were very nicely decorated, as was the living & dining areas. The bathrooms were nice too. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the screened in balcony. Everything was great.

We stocked up on groceries at Fosters Food Fair, but later checked out Kirk's Market as well. Both have a good selection of foods.

If you are looking to try some great local restaurants, I'd highly recommend "Over the Edge" and "Heritage Kitchen." Over the Edge is near Rum Point, which also is a must see. The food was so good we ate there twice. We tried Turtle Steak, Grilled Wahoo, Conch Steak & Conch Fritters. All were really tasty. Heritage Kitchen is a small building behind the gas station at the four way stop. I believe it is only open on Thursday & Friday evenings. The have Fish Tea (a fish soup) and excellent steamed fish (plus other items). Very good.

For Beaches, our favorite spots were Rum Point, Smith's Cove and 7 Mile beach. The spot in front of Calico Jack's was great too. They also have the best Pina Colada's.

Stingray City was great, and the Pirate Cruise was a lot of fun. My son, who is 5, absolutely loved it. Well worth the money. We also spent a day at the East End and swam there and visited Pedro St James (great historical site) and Queen Elizabeth's Botanical Park, where we saw a huge blue iguana in the wild. If you like snorkeling, it doesn't get much better than Soto's Reef aka Cheeseburger Reef (due to it's proximity to Burger King). It's like swimming in an aquarium.

An absolutely fantastic trip and I'm ready to go back now!

Again, thanks to the 7 Mile Beach Resort & her staff for helping to make our vacation absolutely fabulous!
