“Beautiful Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

I had been to this property 4 years ago and I must say that I was very impressed with the changes that have been made. The most important one being the addition of numerous umbrellas on the beach. If one wasn't available then the guys on the beach were always there to set you up with one.
We had a problem with the AC in our room the first night, it just never got cool enough. They sent someone right away to fix it but unfortunately it just never got cool. We switched rooms the following day and were upgraded to a pool/ocean view which was lovely! The only issue was that it was right above the hot tub. Hot tub hours are supposed to end at 11 pm but it's never enforced and people sit in the hot tubs drinking, laughing, and listening to music until the wee hours. Had to call down to the desk one night as people were so inconsiderate!
The beach is absolutely gorgeous with plenty of room for everyone. We had a few lunches out by the pool, food was good. On our last night we did the beach BBQ. It was extremely overpriced for what they give you, even though it was all you can eat. Plus, they automatically tack on a 15% gratuity, but since it was a buffet the waitresses only brought you drinks. $90 US for the two of us was a total rip off, I would not recommend it.
For breakfast we ate across the street at EATS or at the Sunshine Grille in the Sunshine Suites. Much more reasonably priced than the breakfast at the hotel. Always check your bill carefully, some restaurants add in the gratuity, some don't. We ended up double tipping a few times.
For dinners we enjoyed Ragazzi, Copper Falls Steak House and Luca,
We did an afternoon Stingray City trip. Don't book it through Red Sail at the hotel, they charge much more than some of the local outfits. We went through Acquarius with Captain Mario. It was a 4 hour trip, they picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel. There were only 20 people on our trip, not 30-40 on most of the other overcrowded boats. We got pizza onboard and Mario took lots of pictures of us which we could download for free. Would highly recommend his tour!
The hotel is very pretty, grounds are kept up beautifully and everyone was very nice and helpful. Housekeeping was great and they came around again every evening offering fresh towels and mini rum cakes! 2 water bottles were delivered every day and there's a mini fridge in the room.
There's really no need for a car there, they have these vans that are the local buses and it's $2.50US a person to get into town. There's also plenty of taxis right at the hotel.
The weather was perfect, the beach was stunning and we were very happy with our whole experience. We plan to come back!

Room Tip: I would avoid a room overlooking the hot tubs if you want peace and quiet at night.

I have been going to this hotel for over 15 years, recently they made some renovations to the rooms and also made some updates to the "outside experience " that really matter.

There are plenty of umbrellas and people to help you get set up on the beach ( THANK YOU!!)
the food and restraints got an overhaul as well - all great enhancements ! They even have fresh pressed juices at the coffee bar now!

The only room for improvement in check in/out at the front desk- it can be slow... so be prepared to be patient.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool can be noisy in the AM - if children are allowed to play ( and scream) un...

The second time I've been to this hotel. Both times I had a great experience. The accommodations are what you would expect at a Westin. Upscale but not over the top in every way. But what makes this place outstanding is their beach. It is big and best of all not crowded. Plenty of room to lay out and not be on top of your neighbor. The hotel has several time share/ condos on one side and the Governor's home on the other. So you are not squished among rows of massive hotels. There is peace and quiet - not loads of beach walkers and loud wave runners.

After having stayed at the Holiday Inn "Resort" (timeshare) that was reported by Interval International to be on 7 Mile Beach (but wasn't) and being miserable there we escaped to the Westin! They couldn't have been more welcoming with a friendly, well trained staff who greeted us with an upgraded room and a feeling of coming home. All of our senses have been taken care of here - from the lovely scent as you enter the Westin, the pampering of my toes at the Hisbiscus Spa, the beautiful view of the beach from our room, the taste of every drink and bite of food here at the pool bar as well as the Ferdinand's and the Beach House, the typical lovely bedding and robes in our room, great coffee in room, wonderful gift shops, nice artwork in hallways - all of this is the way it should be in a resort. The Holiday Inn group should take a field trip here to see what a resort truly is as they have a lot to learn.

I am staying here for a meeting. The food is OK and meeting facilities are very nice. However, when the room is cleaned, we don't receive new towels. We call to the front desk and ask for them. For an expensive resort hotel on the beach, I would expect that I don't have to make the call.

Thank you so much for sharing your comments with us. We are very glad that you enjoyed our meeting facilities; however, we do ask that you accept our apologies regarding the towel issue you encountered. It is never our desire to have our guests be inconvenienced in anyway so it is unfortunate that it was necessary for you to call down to the front desk to request more towels. Your comments will be shared with our Director of Housekeeping. We hope the next time you are visiting the island, whether it be for business or for leisure, you will allow us the honor of welcoming you back.

We didn't like the elevators in this hotel. They had a strange smell and made a loud noise and jerky motion when going down to the first floor! And outside hot tubs were not great. Otherwise hotel was fine and beach was perfect!

While we were thrilled to learn that you loved Seven Mile Beach, it was disappointing that not every aspect of your stay was positive. Thank you for alerting us to your concerns regarding the elevator; we will forward your comments to our maintenance team. The next time you are visiting the area we hope that you will allow us the honor of welcoming you back.

You'll love the beach and the clear Caribbean Sea for swimming. Friendly staff provide beach chairs, umbrellas, towels and refreshments, and the shoreline is perfect for long walks north or south as well as sunsets. I also recommend paying extra for a room that overlooks the beach and pool. "Heavenly beds" are very comfy, and the food is good. However, you should venture off the resort to sample other restaurants (like Wharf, Cracked Conch, Agua, Calypso Grill) and sign up for a snorkel or scuba outing. The coral reefs around Grand Cayman attract many divers for good reason.

Room Tip: Definitely choose ocean view.
