I was surprised when I looked up RP and surprised by all the negative press about the cab drivers! We did not have a plan that day, maybe a beach. Came off of Carnival Magic, walked around for a bit, trying to see if there was a decent beach to walk to (lame, but just trying) but we were just having fun checking out the scenery and shops. Grand Cayman is beautiful. After realizing we're tired of walking, we tried to find food. Just so happens we came upon a taxi driver on the corner trying to get business with a sign to the beaches. We got on with another couple that wanted to go the Seven Mile Beach (which I now learned, which is pretty much the same?) I didn't see RP on any of his signs but we did not want to spend like 20 bucks to go to a beach (even if there were add ons) so the cab driver suggested RP. He realized we didnt want to spend the money so suggested the cheapest. He even mentioned a free one, but we weren't excited about the possibility of a dirty crowded beach. Just TALK with the cab driver. He was really good about discussing it (even though we felt like he was jukin us thge whole time) but nope, he held his word! Maybe because he already had to take the other couple way up north anyway! We were REALLY nervous because we absolutely did NO research and it turned out RP was awwwwwwwwesome! Cab ride was 4 each, entry was 2 each. The food was deliciousssssssssss, our server was awesome! Even got suckered into getting a few drinks and I usually hate spending that much on drinks. I was jsut so relaxed! Service was only slow at the beginning but it was because it seemed busy. We did not rent anything else, they had the typical (chairs, snorkel, etc). Bathrooms were near perfect!
The beach was slightly crowded, but we jsut walked up the beach about .5-1 mile and it was LITERALLY LIKE HAVING OUR OWN BEACH. BEAUTIFUL. We just layed on the sand where the water meets and just hung out! No kids. Just occasional people walking by. Apparently it's free to walk anywhere. So sure, you can relax at the RP and enjoy the awesome food, drinks, and service.....but we wanted to explore!
Then, we walked back to RP, cleaned up and got to the front where cabs were waiting on us. THIS WAS THE PERFECT UNPLANNED TRIP!

That's a GREAT review, thanks. The Royal Palms is a good choice. It is family run, we care about the cleanliness, the quality of the food and how you are treated. We are the closest and least expensive location on Seven Mile Beach. P.S We have a pool. Have a wonderful New Year.
