“Small but interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2015

small but interesting museum in Georgetown Grand Cayman. Small but sweet gift shop attached. Reasonably priced gifts, Christmas ornaments, mugs, etc.

Only being in Grand Cayman for a short time, we didn't stay long in the museum or gift shop.

“Well worth visiting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2015

After several visits to Grand Cayman, we discovered the National Gallery, and stopped in to check it out.
very worthwhile - the special exhibit was luminescent forms was very interesting...the permanent collection was good also - quite a range of expression, from sort of primitive, to abstract...
very enjoyable..I plan to visit again

“Excellent for a small island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2015

If you arrive here expecting a gallery like MOMA or the Smithsonian you will be disappointed.

But this is a super gallery for such a small island. With a permanent collection upstairs and an ever changing one on the ground floor.
The one we saw was photos of grains of sand. They were called stacked photos as the technique was to take a number of pictures of the same subject, all with a shallow depth of field and then combine them to make the whole picture sharp.

“Interesting exhibition”

The Foraminifera exhibit was fascinating. the Permanent Collection is always interesting to view. The gallery is well worth a visit to see fine arts in Cayman.
