I generally try to find the positive in a place and do not like to give poor reviews and your experience may be better than ours. I could have given this place a poor rating and on another day, maybe it would have been a better rating. We took the Stingray City/Tiki Beach excursion from the Carnival Legend and had a magnificent time at Stingray City and then went to Tiki Beach. The restaurant and setting seems nice enough, but we were not there for the restaurant. The complementary drink we were given was about 6 ounces in a dixie cup sized cup, which was really small. We did manage to get to the beach chairs and the setting was nice enough, although the beach was not very wide and the water smelled bad, which is out of the control of Tiki Beach. There was some rotting sea grasses or something in the water that made the smell; at least that is what i think and hope it was. Anyhow, my daughters and i went snorkeling around the reef which is right on top of the beach. You will need some type of shoes to be comfortable walking our in the water any distance. Once we got past the reef into a bit deeper water, we did see some good sized schools of fish and some of the most colorful fish we saw on our cruise. That was the highlight of this stop and maybe i should give a higher rating based upon that part of the experience.
They do have showers so that you can rinse off, but my bathing suit smelled badly when it dried even though i had rinsed off.
We were assigned a time to catch a bus back and we decided to leave a bit early, only to be told we'd have to wait until our time to depart, which seemed okay to us. One lady told us that we could get on an earlier bus back to the boat if spots were available. We thought that was reasonable too. Another lady with Tiki Beach told us that we'd have to pay for an earlier trip back even if spots were available on the bus. Personally, i think that woman planned to charge us to go back early and keep the money herself, so maybe it was not Tiki Beach's fault. I am confident that we are not the first people she tried to charge.
While waiting for the bus, we went to the bar to get a soda since we were all thirsty. We were completely ignored by the bar staff for close to 20 minutes before getting two soft drinks at $4 each. They too were small. At least they tasted good and they were cold.
Anyhow, maybe your experience will be better and if you are going for the food, then i guess that might happen. As for us, we would try a different spot the next time we are in Grand Cayman.
