“A very small site, but worth a quick stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

Fort George was an 18th century British fort, the ruins of which served as the site of a US Navy outpost during WWII. There's very little left beyond a few canons and some bits of the walls, but the plaques were interesting.

“A quick bit of history”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

You can view this in about 5 minutes. There is a couple of cannons and some signs to read. If your walking through the city and aren't pressed for time or doing an excursion it is interesting but I wouldn't visit it a second time.

“Wish there was more.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2012

I understand this site got rescued from the ravages of a developer in the 70's. Too bad it didn't get rescued sooner. It has good signage and portions of the fort remain for you to use your imagination on.

“nothing there”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2011

Fort George is a spot of ground and that's about it. The national museum which is just on the other side of the road is much better.
