“Party of six, 50 min. wait for main course food service”
We sat down just after 6pm, thanksgiving evening. A nice table at the end of the room with a view of the water. The wine and appetizers we ordered were served shortly after being ordered.
Ordered dinner, we waited and waited and waited, the boys, being 10 and 11 while being very good, can only sit still for so long, without getting into something. We asked about our food several times, and were told it was coming soon each time.
The first time the waiter filled my water glass I told him that I drink a lot of water and would he please keep an eye on it. My water glass was filled to 2/3 level most times, and twice the waiter ran out of water in his pitcher before getting to mine, and then didn't bother to come back to finish filling all the glasses.
It turned out that our nice table at the end of the room turned out to be the last place they came to provide service. To give them credit, they did offer a second bottle of wine, for free, to try to make up for their lack of quality service, we accepted their bottle.
After 50 minutes of waiting, our dinner came and was prepared well, and everyone was ok. The head waiter asked my wife if she needed melted butter for her prawns, which were very large and wonderful, she said yes, please. They came back and asked how my steak was cooked but forgot about the melted butter for my wife and I, my dish was a surf and turf.
I had to go to them and ask for the melted butter. Very, very poor service and follow up!!!
They add 15 % to your bill for a tip, I usually tip more, this meal, I would have given 5 to 10 %.
This is the problem with mandatory tips, TIPS means, to inspire prompt service, it was wasn't anything close.
The food was good, the service destroyed how nice the setting was, and our plan for a great meal with wonderful friends.
