My boyfriend and I stayed at the Sea Spray Cottage for 3 nights in early May. It was our first trip to Grand Cayman and we loved it! We got a great deal on the Cottage (booked through Turtle Nest Inn) that included car rental. We were very pleased with the Sea Spray Cottage. It is part of a private residence, however it is an apartment that is attached to the garage of a lovely home, though the Cottage itself is not attached to the main house. While the Cottage is part of someone's home, we never once felt as though there was a lack of privacy, quite the contrary. On our first day we had the pleasure of meeting Bill, one of the owners of the Sea Spray. He was very gracious and helpful, but due to Bill and Anne's work schedule and our being out touring the wonders of Grand Cayman, we never had the opportunity to run into them again.
The Cottage was very well appointed and had everything we needed including bathrobes, beach mats, beach towels, sun hats, cooking utensils, hair dryer, and full size toiletries. Even though there was satellite tv, the cottage was well stocked with a selection of books, dvds and games. A cell phone was also available for use, you simply had to purchase a prepaid card from a grocery or convienence store to use it. For reference, we found the Cottage to be a good size, larger than most hotel rooms. It was about 550 sq ft, perhaps a bit larger. Larger than my boyfriend's apartment! Of course those staying that the Sea Spray also have full use of the facilities at the Turtle Nest Inn, though we never had the chance to visit the Inn.
We did not encounter any issues with insects during our stay. However there were adorable small lizards on our patio. A friendly siamese cat came to say hello a couple days as well.
We found the Sea Spray to be in a great location. We were about 30 minutes from Georgetown and the Seven Mile Beach area and about 40 minutes from Rum Point (the distances are not far, however the speed limit is slow). It is in a quiet residental area near some lovely houses. We found the quiet area to be a great retreat. My boyfriend and I are active young professionals in our late 20's/early 30's and while we like being in the heart of an urban area in our daily lives, we loved the quiet area of Sea Spray. We never had to worry about being disturbed by children late at night or by loud partiers.
We'd go back to the Sea Spray Cottage in a heart beat. It's a great value and the snorkeling on Grand Cayman couldn't be better!
