“We will be back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

I reluctantly give this honest review, since I'd like to keep this place a secret. Our unit was well appointed, with a direct ocean view from 2 of 3 bedrooms. Nicely furnished, everything in good shape. Well equipped kitchen. Taura checked on our flights, and met us as we arrived. In unit washer/dryer. Steps to the clean, ample pool and ocean. Only downside was low water pressure. Spectacular and spacious for 6 people. Grocery 5 min away, 15 min to airport. Snorkeling at the reef right off the pier better than the snorkeling trip on the boat.

Too good to be true. Quiet and lovely location on the water. 3 bedroom unit perfect for our group. Kitchen good sized. All rooms well appointed and comfortable. Snorkeled off the dock. Easy access to Georgetown. Would not hesitate to return.

My wife and I have stayed at several Villas Pappagallo (VP) condominium units over the past 18 years. The overall condition of the various units has ranged from virtually outstanding to mediocre (as a previous Tripadvisor VP poster has outlined). One must remember that each VP unit is privately owned, which readily accounts for variations in unit décor, updating, overall cleanliness and other personal ownership touches. All in all, the vast majority of the VRBO and private rentals at VP are super; many are nothing short of outstanding. Architecturally, VP units are superb. Each two or three bedroom unit…regardless of location offers superb views of the garden area, the pool area and the ocean. Most units offer views of all three. The virtual beachfront units are truly beachfront…being within 100’ of the ocean. Almost all one bedroom units offer lesser views.

As outlined by previous Tripadvisor posters, Villas Pappagallo is not located in the mainstream of Grand Cayman. Rather, it is located on the extreme northern tip, and directly borders Barker’s National Park, allowing VP users several miles of remote beach and Grand Cayman backcountry. Unlike condo’s located on Seven Mile Beach, the only noise that will wake up VP residents are the rooster’s crowing…Grand Cayman is becoming rather Hawaiian with the number of free range “citizen” chickens.

Across the road from Villas Pappagallo is the Restorante Pappagallo (which is not associated with Villas Pappagallo). Having sampled dinner fare at just about every Grand Cayman higher end restaurant, Restorante Pappagallo may be one of the best calling cards for Villas Pappagallo, as it is literally a minute walk from VP and in our opinion, the best Grand Cayman restaurant, regardless of cost. Other than Restorante Pappagallo, there are no other restaurants, shops or pertinent vacation activities nearby.

Having stayed at many privately owned Caribbean island condominium complexes over the past 25 years, I can unconditionally state Villas Pappagallo is one of the best maintained, seclusive, personal and unique Caribbean condominium complexes available. For these reasons, and several more...we always look forward to stays to VP…and are already planning our return trip!

Room Tip: Condo's on the east side tend to be a bit quieter...although all units are quite quiet. Condo...

Dear Mr. Rayfield,

We are just back from our trip to the Cayman Island. We had a good time and I like to give you a little feedback of our experience at Pappagallo.

1. The location on the beach was superb.
2. The compound was meticulously maintained.
3. The people were friendly and courteous.
4. The carpet in your condo was recently cleaned.
5. The internet and the phone to the US provided in the condo worked well.
6. We appreciated you providing a cell phone for the Island although we never used it.
7. There were plenty of good quality towels.

We had a several issues with the condition of your condo:
1. The living spaces were not clean on the day we arrived.
2. Basically all horizontal surfaces were dusty throughout the condo.
3. All night stands were covered with a layer of dust.
4. It is not a one or two hour cleaning service with change of towels and bed linen that was needed. Instead a thorough deep cleaning that would probably involve two people for a full day.
5. We were promised midweek cleaning and change of bed linen. This never happened in spite of us calling and emailing you. When it had not happened by Thursday afternoon we told you it was too late.
6. There were limited glasses - four guests who wanted to share a bottle of red wine had to use three different styles of wine glasses.
7. Light bulbs were burnt out in the fridge and over dining room table.
8. The living room sofa is worn, nonprofessionally repaired and needs to be replaced.
9. The faucet for the right hand sink in the guest bathroom is not working it has no cold water.
10. The faucet for the kitchen sink cannot be turned over to the left kitchen sink basin.
11. The kitchen was not clean and instead of cooking we ended up eating out
12. The vertical blinds in the guest bedroom could not be closed. They were stack on the sides.
13. To enjoy the beautiful compound the windows needed cleaning both in and outside. They should have been cleaned upon our arrival.
14. The toilet in the guest bathroom needed three or four flushing to get rid of the waste.
15. The left hand side closet door in the guest room was stuck on the carpet and could not be opened or closed.
16. The bedspread in the guest room was soiled.

The Town Home we were in had an excellent view of the Gulf, was in great condition, with
all the amenities. There was a fine pool where you could swim after excursions in the Gulf snorkeling. It was a perfect place to retire to for our group after enjoying the features of Grand
Cayman Island . Always happy to recommend Villas Pappagallo (#36). WJG

We have traveled to a number of beach destinations in the Carribean and Mexico, and Cayman has been our favorite so far.

If youre staying at Pappagallo you will need to rent a car. However we loved driving around the island, discovering different beaches and snorkeling spots. I recommend Smith's Cove for great swimming and snorkeling, and GeorgeTown for shopping and eating out.

We stocked up on groceries at a nearby market and prices were very reasonable. We also tried some of the bars and restaurants. The seafood we had was all fresh and delicious. Theres also Wendys, Subway, Pizza Hut, and KFCs for those who favor familiarity.

The location of the villa was excellent. 10 minutes north of Seven Mile, very private, corner unit, steps from the beach. The beach is great for laying out, and we saw a number of fish snorkeling in the ocean. It is not a swimming beach and watershoes are recommended. It was nice having a pool and we used it a couple of times. There appears to be a hot tub but the water was never actually warm.

The unit was clean and well deocrated. It was definitely spacious enough for 5 people. I loved waking up each morning and relaxing on the ocean front balcony. The downstairs living area was updated and bright. The only reason we gave it a 4 was because the TV wasnt working and the electronic front door locks randomly malfunctioned.

The is a resort type atmosphere with large well kept condos, beautiful views of the sea, a private dock, a reef plentiful with marine life, miles of secluded beach to walk. a newly renovated pool and jacuzzi, friendly folks. A "home away from home" feeling as the condos are actually owners homes that are inspected and licensed by the Cayman Department of Tourism. Do not pass this up. Ten minutes gets you to any night life that you would want. A great five star restaurant across the street and many others within a few minutes drive.
