I spent a week at the resort the end of May and hated to leave. As it turned out, I went alone as my other two travel mates couldn't make it at the last minute. No fear, the resort is definetely people friendly. Singles, couples and families. I exchanged into the resort on a timeshare exchange and consider myself extremely lucky as it appeared a good number, at least everyone I spoke to, own there and use their time themselves. They do rentals also, and from what I could tell, are VERY resonable. My unit was 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, pull out couch too if you needed to accomodate 6 people. Everything you could possibly need was available in the unit. King bed was one of the most comfortable I have every slept on. Since it is a timeshare facility, I expected to be at least approached by a sales person but no one at all bothered me. The employees, desk clerk to cleaning people were super friendly, caring and attentive. The desk clerks will make arrangments for you for everything from horseback riding to dinner reservations, Everything worked just fine, so I had no need to call for a maintenance person.

There are 2 lovely pools, beach with great snorkeling, plentiful lounge chairs and umbrellas at the pools and beach. Beach towels are also supplied. Kayaks, bicycles and a tennis court - all for the free use of the vacationers. Several grills for outdoor cooking.

The resort was damaged during Hurricane Ivan so there are lots of new furnishings etc.

Check in and out was taken care of in minutes, My flight home was not until late afternoon, so I deposited my luggage in the luggage room (check out is 10 am), layed out by the pool, then showered and changed in the hospitality room.

There are 2 computers in the lobby for tenant's use for those of us that have the need to "stay connected" to check e-mail etc.

I can't say enough about this little gem of a resort. Its fairly small by resort standards - only about 60 or so units, all 2 or 3 bedroom. That to me, made it all the more appealing - so friendly. By the end of the week I had made friends with so many people.

Definitely a place I hope to return to one day. ---The sooner the better!!

I had exchanged my timeshare for a week at Plantation Village and I will definately be back! This was a girls week, and all five of us were extremely happy.
The staff was very pleasant upon arrival and helpful throughout the week when we needed a taxi or a recommendation on a place to dine.
We stayed in unit 66 which was in the building furthest from the beach but that was ok because the walk was not far. The unit itself was great, 2br/2ba. The livingroom had a pull out couch which was comfortable to sleep on. We found that having a full kitchen saved us a ton of money. There is a grocery store a couple miles down the road, which a taxi will accomodate, and we had most of our meals in.
The beach at Plantation Village was great, the only downside to the beach/water was that there are very large rocks/reef in the water which made it hard to walk out and swim. It was great for snorkling, but you may want to bring water shoes! We figured out that if you floated out from the beach on a raft, you would skim over the rocks and it would take you into a sandy area. The water is beautiful, crystal clear. We saw trumpet fish, stingray, and many other fish right in front of the condo. We loved it!
I would highly recommend Plantation Village to families, girls week, or to anyone who wants to have a nice relaxing time.

The Plantation Village Resort is great! The staff was friendly. The room was spectacular. We had a 3rd floor ocean view villa. It was clean and had all of the necessities for our stay. I will definitely be staying there again next year. I really liked the fact that we had a 2 br/2ba villa but the den could be closed off to make a 3rd bedroom. All of the appliances were up to date. The decor was modern and tasteful. The resort is within walking distance of stores and restaurants. You can easily catch the bus in front of the resort to go downtown.

We had a fabulous time at Plantation Village Resort. It's not the Ritz, but it was clean, comfortable, convenient, and one of the most affordable condos on the island. We booked one night through the resort. Then we did a full week through Interval Time Shares. When you book through Interval there is an additional $190 utility fee charged by the resort (for a 3 bedroom).

We did not have any maid service during the week. They do provide beach towels which we were allowed to change up 1/2 way thru the week. (We also could wash them in the unit's washer/dryer.) 2 sets of bath towels are provided for each person and part way thru the week we had to leave our first set of towels outside for them to pick up. Make sure you bring shampoo as they don't supply any. They did supply bathroom soap/kitchen soap/dishwasher detergent. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook/eat with.

The tennis court was awesome (rackets and balls were provided in the condo). We were able to use the internet (need to bring a cable) in the condo as well as in the office. We loved using the kayaks. Never used the bikes but they had quite a few to choose from. We never used the pools... spent all our time in the ocean. The beach is small but they had chairs and they were never full (granted it was the first week of December).

We stayed on the 3rd floor in Unit 31. We loved having the ocean view from the patio and ate many of our meals there. The 3rd bedroom was more of a den but had two twin beds plus a queen air mattress. (We never used that room.) They have very nice grills outside for guests to use. They also had a breakfast get together by the beach one morning for all guests as well as an evening rum punch/appetizer get together.

This was our first trip and won't be our last! We loved taking long walks up the beach and snorkeling. The snorkeling by the condo was just okay. Not great compared to other spots. Cemetery Beach (North end of 7mile) was awesome. We saw a shark and the fish literally attacked us as we were feeding them. It was like being in an aquarium. Beautiful coral if you can find it. Snorkeling was also great just north of Cemetery Beach by the public beach/boat ramp that is at the Hell turnoff. There we saw puffer fish, squid, lobster, etc.... Did Sting Ray City and that was amazing. What I loved, though, was that every day, no matter where we were, even by Plantation Village, we saw sting rays.

Regarding phone calls... it was .75 for local calls and $1.75 a minute for long distance (including 800 #'s). What's weird is that my kids could call me from Michigan and my Michigan phone company didn't charge me for international calling... it registered as being a US call.

If we ever get the chance, we'll go back in a heartbeat! It sure beats this snow we're getting!!

I traded my timeshare for a week at the Plantation Village. It was a girls getaway and we had a fantastic time. The staff was always pleasant and helpful with our requests for coins for the laundry and for clean beach towels. We met soo many nice people who have their timeshares here and they were able to point us in the right direction for great restaurants and bars to watch the football game. Thanks to Sharyn and Ken from Tuscon. The resort will set you up with "Captain Marvins" tours and they will take you out on a snorkel tour for $39.99. The tour takes you to three spots Coral Gardens, Barrier Reef and the Sting Ray sandbar. We brought our own cooler with beer and rum punch we made ourselves and had a blast. You can walk to Kirks grocery store for all your needs and the Liquor store is just down the street. Plan ahead and make sure you stock up because everything closes on Sunday, this is a very christian island. Cant wait to go back.
