“The resort is not ready for guests to stay.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We went to this resort under Grand Caymanian Resort during the second week of September. We were surprised seeing the new name, Holiday Inn Express resort. The reason we chose this resort because of location. By looking at the map it is away from the busy hotels and resorts area like 7 mile beach. We expected to have good privacy here.

I would like to give 5 stars for the location although it is without beach, but so many problems we faced ruined our week long stay.

Pro: 1. Right at water front, but no beach, all rocks and seaweeds.
2. Quite, no other resources around.
3. Beautiful golf course near by
4. No timeshare presentation
5. Good shuttle services
6. Clean
7. Beautiful weather
Con: 1. Need big improvement on customer services and operation. When I checked in, I asked for higher floor because I always have problem sleeping. The lady at the front desk lied to me that all rooms were filled. The fact was less than 1/3 were filled. We saw less than 10 people on the first few days. The hotel renovated the floor during low season. The operation manager left a letter to inform guests one day before the job started. The worker used the electric drill digging out and breaking the tiles in front of my room. I felt my nerve was going to break down because it was shaking in my chase and brain. I asked the man to stop. I finally asked the man to stop. He did. I came out and left a note for the manager at the front desk. No words from the management or the front desk.
2. No beach walk
3. Many problems in the kitchen. It is not ready for resort/time share place. No coffee mug and spoons, no cutting board, no new dish washing scrub pad. They left the used one for us. When we called, we were told that they never put out the new one. No dish washing detergent. Broken kitchen cabinet handle. Microwave did not work properly. Cannot set it to stay working. No kitchen scissor, no toaster. However, the maintenance man and housekeeper always came when we requested, but some problems could not be fixed.
4. Safe deposit did not work.
5. Shower did not work. The man fixed it many times and we gave it up. We did not take the shower on the first day.
6.Towels were very hard like sand.
7. Orientation - not thing. No resort personnel or orientation as advertised. The restaurant workers just put a small pot of coffee out, just enough for 2 cups. It was just the tour sale.
8. Internet was super slow.

Dear MeKat513,
Thank you for your recent review of the Grand Caymanian Resort Timeshare facilities, a shared property (different accommodations) with the Holiday Inn Resort. I am so sorry to hear that your stay with us was less than stellar. We strive to provide the most comfortable accommodations and overall best guest experience possible; however, your feedback has helped us to identify a few areas of opportunity. I've taken note of each of your concerns and will certainly address them with the appropriate departments to ensure the necessary actions are taken. Our timeshare property is undergoing improvements and we apologize for the inconvenience that was caused during your stay. We do hope that should your travels bring you back to Grand Cayman that you'll give us another try. I'd be happy to personally arrange accommodations. Thank you again for your feed back. Kind regards, Brooke Meyer (bmeyer@grandcaymanian.ky)

This is an old property that hasn't been maintained. While waiting over an hour for our room to be prepared we witnessed 4 different guests go to the check-in counter complaining of either issues with their room or the property. I didn't even bother reporting the irises with my room.

The only positive thing to say about the property is that they have a daily shuttle to take you to downtown, grocery shopping or seven mile beach.

My wife and I just came home from a week at this resort and found it to be disappointing. The staff was great from the front desk to the serving staff and housekeeping. The grounds, swimming pool, rooms and amenities need a lot of upgrading. They just don't seem to be organized enough to change a light bulb.

Room Tip: This resort is on the windward side of the Island. You would be much better off on seven mile beach...

We were here during off peak and the resort was under renovations with lots of painting, tileing and carpeting going on. It was a very quiet place on the North shore. There is no swimming beach, there is a beach for sunbathing and lots of hammocks and chairs to relax on. The pool was nice, the dock was great and we were able to go on a wonderful excursion right from our dock to Sting Ray city. Swimming with the sting rays was so wonderful because we were the only boat there being that there was no cruise ship that day and it was off season. The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff nice. But activities were published and then cancelled so there was not much to do at the resort. We rented a car and drove all over the island and snorkeled and visited many different beaches, that was probably the nicest thing about Grand Cayman that it was so easy to get around. Driving on the left only took a day to get used to. It took about 5 mins to drive from the main road to this resort because it is located by a golf course that you drive through with many speed bumps.

Stayed at this hotel Oct 23-26. Two double beds. Room updated. Huge bathroom. Nice outdoor patio/deck. Grounds well kept. Very quiet. Staff was friendly. Enjoyed the free shuttle. Besides coming back one night at 7pm and room wasn't cleaned but called front desk and 3 housekeepers showed up shortly. At breakfast twice and dinner once at restaurant. Decent food and kids eat free which was helpful. No other complaints. Would stay here again. Everything on island is close so this being off seven mile beach wasn't an issue

Located on the opposite side of the peninsula from 7 Mile Beach, but a short shuttle ride away. The staff were friendly and attentive. Great area for an early morning walk or jog. The room was clean and comfortable. No beach onsite, but the views were awesome.

Fantastic stay. Room was upgraded to king suite. The place was quite as it was off season. Clean and tidy location. Pool was lovely and the staff were attentive. We really enjoyed or stay. We had a hire car and used this to get around the island which was ideal. This hotel does not give you a beach but we drove to various different beaches daily. The only recommendation I could give is for some sand around the volley ball court so that children could play in it.
