Mobydicktours' Stingray City excursion is wonderful! You're taken out on a very comfortable boat ride where the guides provide loads of fascinating information about the Stingrays - with humorous insight to boot.

The sandbar they take you to is teeming with the friendly Stingrays, and guides made sure that everyone who wanted to hold or feed one got to do so. In addition, the area where they take you snorkeling afterward is nothing short of gorgeous.

On the return trip, the guides pointed out some beautiful homes along the shoreline, and suggested a great place to eat (and provided a discount for the food there).

I highly recommend this trip to anyone - it'll be worth your while!

Great experience with Soto's Cruises

I had originally booked a tour with Fat Fish Adventures, but that fell through due to some mechanical problems they were having. Not wanting to miss Stingray City, I booked with Soto’s at the last minute. While it was a bit hard finding their location in a residential area, the staff was great. I believe it was Randy, Billy, and Sonja. My son got sunscreen in his eyes and Billy helped us wash it out. We went to the coral reef first for snorkeling. It was a bit overwhelming trying to take care of 3 kids in the ocean, but it was easily the best reef we saw while snorkeling. A stingray with no tail showed up and came right up to us. It initially freaked out the kids because it was rather pushy for food, but they soon became enchanted with it. Billy also said, “Want to see a moray eel?” We followed him and he swam down, clapped in front of a crevice, and the eel swam out. Now I’m a bit familiar with marine life, so I know that the eel was pissed off and defending its territory. I hung back with the kids and snapped photos, but I was wondering about the wisdom of antagonizing an eel. At the same time, I wanted to see the sucker and knew he wasn’t being hurt. J We then got back on board and went to Stingray Sandbar. (I now know Stingray City and Stingray Sandbar are two different locations – they just call them all Stingray City.) Earlier I posted in this forum that my Dad was very, very wary of interacting with the stingrays. He quickly warmed up to it when he saw how tame they were. And though Billy harassed the eel at the reef, he was very respectful of the stingrays. He told us to remove shoes and snorkeling equipment so we didn’t hurt the rays. I saw not everyone was doing that on other tours, especially on the Red Sail boats in the area. I would have liked to look underwater at the rays, but the welfare of the animals was more important. My 7 year old started really freaking out about the rays, though. Sonja took the time to work with him and just as we were about to leave, he agreed to pet one of the small males. By the end, the kids wanted to go back (and we did). They still say it was their favorite part of the trip. Overall Soto’s did a very nice job, were very personal, and I would use them again. They also did the tour for a good price.

We visited Stingray City the beginning of June on the recommendation of our friends and were not disappointed.
It took 45 minutes by boat to get there but the scenery was beautiful. Upon arrival I was surprised to see over 20 boats anchored in a circle. I was sure this was going to be too busy and a waste of our time and money. Boy was I wrong. Once we got on the water there were tons of rays to go around. They would swim right past you checking for treats of squid or fish. The water was amazingly warm and was enjoyable just to swim in. We had 3 teenagers with us and they loved it! Our trip was booked through RCC Freedom of the Seas and it went extremely smoothly. We had plenty of time to shop after by the port before getting back on board. This was a must do activity!!!

Because of the reviews on Trip Advisor, we booked Stingray Sailings on our recent cruise stop at Grand Cayman . Best stop on the cruise! Michelle was very responsive to our questions while booking the reservations. We had a party of 12 and they handled everything in a very personal and professional manner.
Chip was at the pier waiting for us when we got off the boat and loaded us up on a very comfortable (air conditioned) bus. After a short ride we arrived at the boat dock where Chip and Mark were there to take us on our adventure. Both Chip and Mark were VERY knowledgeable of the area and answered all of our questions about Grand Cayman. Mark even took the time to teach one of our kids how to use their SLR camera for get even better pics. Great personal touch!
The boat is the perfect size. There were a total of 19 of us on the boat, but at no time did it feel crowed there was plenty of space to lay out and get some sun, or just to sit under the canopy and enjoy the scenery and boat ride to stingray city.
Once at stingray city our experience was very similar to the other reviews. Both Chip and Mark got in the water with us and educated us on the best way to experience our adventure. I can’t tell you how many times our group kept saying “I am so glad we are on this boat” because just about every other tour group that was there came in an overstuffed boat that did not look very comfortable, and they did not get the personal attention that Chip and Mark gave all of us.
I know that it is sometimes hard to know if you are booking with a reputable/trustworthy tour but I can assure you that if you book with Michelle, Chip, and team you will not be disappointed. Great Job Stingray Sailings!! http://www.stingraysailing.com/index.html

We took a trip with Chip and Stingray Sailing and it was fabulous! We did just our family of 6. they were totally flexible and did a sunset cruise with a snorkel stop - totally tailored to what we wanted to do. also, since we were on the north side, they came and picked us up at Kaibo Yacht Club saving us a 45 minute drive each way. Boat was great. Chip's enthusiasm and friendly nature even better! he was so helpful and made the trip. Michelle is incredibly responsive - they are simply the best and we will use them again the next time we are in the Caymans! very accomodating and nice people!
