“Great location and diverse menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

A group of 10 of us were nicely accommodated at CocoMaya. The Tapas menu gave a variety of options for all of us. The beachside location and architecture gave it an elegant feel. When we walked in, we were surprised and it turned out to be a great evening!

“Know what you are looking for.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

Primarily a restaurant with a great little bar at the end. The bar has swings for seating on two sides, which in my opinion is all you need to know about the vibe around this place. Couches in the sand and a fire pit make this place very unique to the island. Great place to pass a little time. I go for a gourmet beer in the afternoon. Not the best place to catch the sunset, but a great view none the less. The food is exceptional. My average rating is purely based on the price. The portions are very pricy and small. You spend about $25 for an appetizer (tapas). Its a great place and the food is good, but you should be ready to spend 300 for a couple if you plan to order a bottle of wine.

Hello and thank you for visiting us at CocoMaya!
I am pleased you liked what we are doing but was surprised by your pricing comment.
As we have advertised on our website - our tapas start at $9 and do not go above $17
Our larger plates which are mains do not go above $39.
Non the less - I am happy you enjoyed your time at CocoMaya.
Thank you.

“Beautiful Restaurant, Beautiful Setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

We have been to CocoMaya several times since it opened for both cocktails and dinners and we have always enjoyed ourselves. On the beach facing west, the setting is perfect for having a drink and watching the sun set behind the islands. The meals, the service and the atmosphere are just what you would hope to experience on a lovely tropical vacation. Being annual visitors to Virgin Gorda for many years, we know and understand the difficulties of getting supplies, good ingredients, etc. and then providing quality meals. The people at CocoMaya have figured it out. I look forward to my next visit this coming January.

Hi
Thank you for your review.
I am a massive fan of the Dolche de leche cheesecake also!
If you love the CocoMaya roll - check out out the Fire Cracker roll next! Crispy Salmon skin on the inside.....delicious!

“Two trips to Coco Maya”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

We had two occasions to enjoy Coco Maya while staying on VG. One was for afternoon drinks at the bar and the other was for dinner. First of all, sitting at that bar (especially the swings) in the afternoon was wonderful. I also can't say enough good things about Seri (not sure if that is how her name is spelled)...our bartender. She not only made great drinks for our group of 8, but she also "put up with my brother"...who would not stop flirting with her. She handled him well! :) The second time we came back later in the week was only for dinner. After a quick trip back to see Seri...who remembered us, we headed to our table. Our group ordered quite a few tapas and shared them with the table. The Miso soup was very good, but with so much in the soup...it did need a little more broth to technically be called a soup. It was decided that the ribs were to die for. That was the very favorite at the table and had we known that..we would have ordered more of that instead of some of the other things we ordered. Some of the Asian Fusion tapas and appetizers were a little too spicy hot for some of us, so make sure you ask before ordering if you have a problem with that. One app. in particular was the Portabella Mushrooms. It brought everyone...including the big guys at the table...to tears and grabbing for the water. The Tarantula sushi was very good, but by the time we got around to it...we were all getting pretty stuffed. It was amazing how little it took to make everyone feel as though they needed rolling out of the restaurant. :O Don't over order, as it is easy to do with tapas. OK..Enough about the food. One of the real special things about this restaurant and bar is the location and view. You are right on the beach and at night there is also a fire-pit that you can lay around on loungers and just enjoy the evening or you can sit in the couches right out on the sand. This is one of the newer restaurants on the island, as far as the architecture and is quite unique for the area. The parking is also better than most restaurants. Coco Maya is a fun place to go and just have a good time. I know they also have music some nights, but we did not hit it on either of those times, so I can't say anything more on that. Don't hesitate to go and spend some time...either late afternoon (bar opens at 3) or evening. It will be a high light for your trip to VG.
